Great video Steve! Great to see what it looked like from the outside!
@Diesel Dave Trains, we were almost at capacity. Our sleepers have been social distancing since 1962 at 20 pax / 10 cabins per twinette carriage and 18 pax/18 cabins in our Roomette carriages. At over 1000m2, we could have 250 pax on the train...capacity at present is 136 pax plus crew.

The 44 classes look very flash!

Hi Steve, great to see you back on the "Tube" !! I trust you've been well and all that ? It's good to see a tour running during these crazy times and I hope they got enough people to pay for the trip?
Look forward to more videos from you sir!
    Cheers Gregg.

G'day Gregg, Simon, Adrian and Diesel Dave,
      Thanks all for the comments.
Yes, a bonzer day weather wise for a tour train to arrive.
Been over 12 months since I last aimed the video camera.
I had pondered the social distancing drama.
And, am wondering if that was the reason for the Paterson tin hares not appearing.
Three coaches plus a vintage omnibus in Bathurst to cart the patrons to Abercrombie House.
No doubt that for the tour, the ticket price tag was expensive.
I guess that with the current situation around the globe, any tour operation would be either expensive or not feasible.
      Steve.

Great video Steve. Looking forward to looking at the rest. I know I have a lot of these but great to see the highlights too.

G'day Kent, just managed to sign in to reply. Not much goes on here in the Central West now days. The only occasional thing of interest being an hysterical job appearing.

Cracking effort Steve, the bridge at Athol is a good spot, I used to go there for the Cube ore train in the evenings. The old barracks at Bathurst looks like it has been sold off to private ownership? Don't know how they make money out of that train as Social Distancing they cannot fill it to capacity. Great footage, thanks Steve.

Oh, forgot to answer your Barracks question.
It was part of the local Community College.
But, I have no idea just what or who it belongs to now.
There appears to be regular residents.

Happy New Year to you Steve, haven't heard from you for awhile so guess you are out camping/hiking or just lazing about at home. Haven't done much this way due to the heat, done some video over the weekend at Manadagery, Red Bend, Grawlins Plains, Forbes and Ootha plus a little at Condobolin the week before. Hope you had a great Christmas too, very quiet one out here...Dave

      G'day Dave,
Xmas was solo here, except for the parrot giving me a scare Xmas morn.
He caught a toenail in a curtain during his exercise and pulled it out attempting to get free.
      Blood going everywhere.
He has healed and is now back to his obnoxious self.
Achieved nada here over the past 7 weeks.
Just attempting to avoid the plague.
Yes Ootha is an interesting spot.
You won't get me going out that way during summer.
I was amused by the latest rail incident out that way, near Kiacatoo.
A wagon collapsing onto the rails and being dragged like a sled.
A wonder that it didn't go bush.
I would like to get back out to Manildra to shoot at the Jumbo at some stage.
Otherwise, nought planned until the next camping caper at easter, IF things permit.
      Steve.

@@aussiealco Good news that you are fine and hibernating, been too hot here to go out most days, I don't bother with most trains that are the usual NR, 81 and 82 class which deletes most off the list. Went down to Yarrabandai an hour ago and video the SCT train from Perth with solo CFCLA CF class in the lead, must be light loading. What is your parrot? I have wild parrots that call in here, Red Rumped Grass parrots and Major Mitchell cockatoos plus usual hordes of Pink Galahs. OK on Kiacatoo, heard something came adrift on the steel train ex Whyalla with ore wagons they attached at Broken Hill, last Wednesday I think it was. Take it easy, getting hotter, 40 deg by the end of the week they say for around here.

      G’day Dave,
40 C, you can have that.
I luv heat, but only so far up the thermometer.
30 C is me most fav temperature.
Hot and humid here today, but thus far nil agua tumbling from them black clouds.
The bodgy budgie is a standard grotty grey quarrian (cockatiel).
I have had various parrots over the years including rosellas and rainbow lorikeets.
This one is the most obnoxious, but I would miss him if he karked it.
He thinks that this house belongs to him, and has chewed every bit of timber.
The Major Mitchells appear each year to inhabit Centennial Park briefly.
They chomp on the pine cones dropping them on pedestrians when ever they can.
I am hibernating until me left eye cataract operation occurs.
Just 6 days to go, unless the plague suddenly attacks here and we go into lockdown.
Been waiting 12 months, so don’t want to have it postponed.
The radio controlled loop points out beyond Condo interest me.
Such a concept not possible while I was rattling around in stinking TOW territory.
I am not a fan of TOW, preferring TRAD ETS and OTS&T safe working.
But, radio controlled loop switches did exist in Tassiemania when I lobbed down there.
Yes, I can fully constumble yer lack of interest with NR, 81 and 82 class rubbish.
I will always like Aussie Alcos and even English Electrics.
      Steve.

@@aussiealco Not good the eye issue, mate in QLD had his done, seeing too much now he reckons, waited 18 months on public system. Just nudged 40 degrees at 1330hrs this arvo, had to go to Orange to see a specialist, a lot cooler there. Only ALCO action here is three 48's on the branch line grain work and the odd visit from the resident Broken Hill yard shunter 80 class for trip inspection and servicing. Haven't seen SSR out here for awhile, occasional Cube with the 1100 class and those Danish loaves of bread. Done some video out at Red Bend last weekend, not keen on going out in this heat. Thought I would video some 48's while they are still chugging about. Lot of Cockatiels at Gunningbland and Derriwong, huge flocks. Only Eastern Rosella out here, no Crimson Rosella's, Green Red Rumped Grass parrots, plenty of them. I have tame Apostlebirds here, they come in side and wander around, Happy Chappies my daughter calls them! Dave

      Cooee Dave,
Yes, snagging a trio of dinky toys is worth the effort regardless of the temperature.
They continue to vanish, so will become endangered eventually.
I loved working them, but not many cohorts agreed with me.
I haven’t squizzed a Helga for some time here.
Having no dynamic, I did ponder them being awkward for the Blue Mountains.
Juice guzzlers, hence the DSB flogging them.
I did climb into one parked at Blayney some years ago.
The Bathurst crew were shunting the Cadia ore job and espied me.
Waving me over to have a chat, they pointed at the Helgas.
The cab doors were not locked and they said that they had climbed in to take a gander.
I was amused by the European throttle steering wheel.
And, naturally right had cab controls.
I guessed Knorr Bremse brake valves, but didn’t loiter too long inside the cab.
The IRA buying them is a bit like Transport NSW buying interurbans from South Korea.
      OUT of gauge.
Had a pet eastern rosella many years ago.
The Mountain Lowry (Chrimson Rosella) seems to mainly inhabit the eastern ranges.
I rarely see them here, but the easterns are frequent here.
I have not espied any wild Cockatiels here.
But, hear them where I go camping out west.
My drongo quarrian dosen’t recognize their calls, but goes berserk when hearing cockatoos.
I am not sure what an Apostle bird is.
The magpies here are very tame and come up to my front door warbling away.
SSR would still work the job to and from Kelso.
But, I don’t know how often that runs now.
Bathurst yard is woeful compared to how it was back in the glory days.
Yes, I am eager to get me eye op over and dun with.
      I don’t like hospitals.
The entire family tree has glaucoma and me Grandparents and me Mum went blind.
Something that I am attempting to avoid.
      Steve.

Sorry for short notice Steve, will be heading through your stomping ground Monday morning 18th Jan between 1100-1130 in the morning if you want to meet up for quick chat. Kelso fruit market good place to meet in car park?

      G'day Dave,
I can't leave the house tomorrow as I will be awaiting the instructions from the hospital.
About me cataract op for tuesday.
Not sure when they will ring, IF they will ring, to advise the surgery details.
Me annual Supa mob phone consultation was also tomorrow.
I had to cancel that as I don't want any interruption to the phone.
      Me email address be;
      stringybark2009@hotmail.com
should you desire to contact me at another time if you are passing through.
I did thump out a response to add here last nite and will continue with it.
      Cooee Dave,
The Helgas are the only 20 cylinder EMD thing here in Oz.
      NoHAB MZ3 JT36C juice guzzlers.
IRA mob trialed natural gas in two of em, which proved a failure.
A wonder the things didn't erupt into flames like that omnibus in smog hollow.
I had squizzed the steering wheel in a number of European things when trekking around in 2008.
I encountered an SD45 one time in Yankeeland in 2000.
They likewise being 20 cylinders, but sounded louder than the Helgas, I guess being a hood unit
The White Pass and Yukon DL537 1200 hp beasties are interesting.
Only squzzed them in video, but would be curious to compare them to our 48ers.
The Brasillians have the RSD8 on metre gauge, that would also be an interesting comparison.
One reason why I detested 82 class, being computerized.
      I still don't know what a Code 66 shut-down is.
Readypower couldn't resolve it at the time.
And, pulling the battery knife switch to then reset the computer didn't achieve nada.
Left the garbage in Clyde yard along with a quarter of the train.
But, the STUPID dual stage Main Generator having a severe transition at 40 kph is RIDICULOUS.
Ah, white winged choughs, yes I know them, they appear out where I go camping.
      Amusing birds to watch foraging.
Me willy wagtail family built a nest one year on the hills hoist.
Spanning around the wires and crossbar.
I couldn't believe it, totally exposed to the sun and rain.
So, I got an old plastic plate and clamped it onto the support bar above.
At first the parents were a little wary of it, but quickly got accustomed to it.
It kept the direct sun and rain off the nest and the trio of chicks.
The male always keeping an eye on me when I mowed the grass or was hanging out washing.
All three survived, though had outgrown the nest.
One flew the nest while I was outside, the second flapping away the following day.
The third, I found laying on the grass underneath, so picked it up and plonked it back in the nest.
A couple of days later, there was a lot of squawking going on out on me back verandah.
The male was perched on the steps handrail, and the chick was on the top step.
When I got to the door, the chick flew off and the male flew up into the acacia tree.
I am sure that the male wanted me to see his third chick successfully fly the nest.
They haven't built a nest on the hoist since, but continue to appear when I am mowing the grass.
      Steve.

@@aussiealco Not a problem, will pop you an email with some bird pics taken in my front and backyard. Just had six Apostlebirds tramp through the lounge looking for their evening feed. Those Helga's were sitting idle for over two years laid up before Dodgy Brothers got hold of them. There was also a 44 class converted to gas around the same time, it ended up in a siding at Cooks River covered in graffiti. Good luck with the eye surgery, you will be seeing too much after that! Dave

Not a bad effort. I'm social distancing my emails.. so expect them to be more spread out. Take care of yourself and the bodgy buggie. Cheers Ado
