Cracking video Steve, well done, nice to see Clandulla refuge getting some use too. Station is a ruin though. Looks like you had a grand day out, well done.
Good to bump into you today up at Tumulla. Even though today was a horror weather wise, I am happy with the results. Will hafta hope for an improvement in the weather for the rest of the 3801 appearance.
Interesting how they had a lever frame set of points, I thought they were trailable points like ours for a minute. Nice to see some old girls still running around. Do you miss it? You can always come up and learn to be a dragline operator you know hey. Emerald is lovely this time of year.
G'day Adrian, Yep, dinky toys were me fav weasels, but a bit cramped for mileage jobs. So, I agreed with the union when they were banned as lead unit on mileage jobs. Clandulla only has a single ended perway siding. We got into trouble when shoving 80 class in there back in the glory days, not capable of that axle load. No trailable main line loop points here. All frames or CTC. Tassie has trailable loop switches. I have been out in the sleet today chasing a stupid soot belcher, 3801. Emerald might be nice compared to here during winter. But, I have only had me first plague jab, so not fully vaccinated yet. And, if things deteriorate south of the border and we get invaded, your lot will slam shut the border. So, no point my venturing anywhere yet. Shivering Steve.
It would cost a bit to reinstate the loop for just a handful of tour trains. The top n tail loco arrangement does work ok. My last photo taken at Rylstone was back in 1989 while pausing to exchange the OTS&T tokens. The station was dilapidated back then. Hopefully the mob revamping it will succeed.
@@aussiealco Yes I suppose you're right. It means you have to travel out there with more than one engine. I hope they do too. It would be great if Mudgee council came round to let it keep going through town.
Reopening the line to Mudgee would be very expensive. It was only reopened partially during the early 2000s. And track speeds were restricted. The Mudgee viaduct and Mount Frome trestle being major problems. It was an enjoyable journey back in the 1980s and 1990s. They even built a new crew barracks in Mudgee just before the line was closed. The Mudgee branch is much the same as the Cowra branch. Limited freight potential.
Thank you for shooting and sharing this, really enjoyed the video. Great to see this section of track in use as well.
Yes, the Mudgee branch has some nice scenery, though is a tad treed out now.
Awesom video Steve, some real nice shots in there.
Yes, it was a bonzer day, except when my camera battery went flat.

Yep, a better day weather wise than just now while chasing 3801.
At least me camera battery didn't kark it today.
Cracking video Steve. I thought it was you I was standing next to at Clandulla on the return journey

I think it might be time they reinstated the loop at Rylstone..... would make running around much easier.
