I’m not sure how I stumbled onto your channel a few years ago, but I’ve watched all of your videos. They’re so well paced, so relaxing, a nice variety to content and ‘formats’, so to speak. Thank you for living the dream I want to do for 2-3 weeks at a time after I retire. The cooking, the van projects, the slower pace, the having so much less stuff. OMG I can’t wait. In the meantime I thank you for everything you share with us.
You have done such a good job of showing winter life in the woods. I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series. It brought back so many memories of my early life in Quebec, and I could smell those cinnamon rolls from my livingroom. Love, love, love your content!

Ten years ago my wife and I moved from the North East to the east coast of South Florida. We purchased a hurricane-proof 4,000. Sq/Ft sprawling ranch on one half acre land that sits on a huge freshwater lake 130'ft rear lakefront property. No mortgage debt free. Solar-heated built-in inground swimming pool. Paradise found. 🌴🌴

This video is by far one of my favorite to watch. I laughed, I was intrigued and you two are so sweet together. Akela and Kobuck are adorable. I was worried about Chris being sick and I thought, I know he won’t be doing the ice plung but he did and I laughed so hard. You two are crazy and so fun to watch. Linnea I love watching you cook from scratch. I'm sorry the deep woods hasn't been cold enough for you lol. The coldest Temps I've had was 10°. Given I had absolutely no type of heat, I think it was an accomplishment that I withstood the cold. Now I have low voltage electric blanket. Thank God for the Bluetti. I'm so proud of you and Chis for actually taking the plunge. Yikes! Can't wait until next week.

You guys both make me laugh so much! I heard the ice cold plunge…for a minute or 2 is great for those suffering depression. It ‘s suppose to help reset the brain. I’m in awe of all you do Linnea. Including the cooking. Can’t wait for the bread and cinnamon rolls recipes. Give that sweet Akela an extra hug 🤗 from me 💗
It's a kick and a high, that's for sure. I don't recommend doing a full minute at first. But getting your head under quickly is key. We have winter bathing clubs in Copenhagen and the harbor is crammed every winter. It's a fun activity when everything is dark, rainy and cold.
Ditto many comments here...I'm 70 and have loved watching you prepare this winter challenge; and watching all of it over time - even seeing how yours and Chris's relationship has been shared in his videos. Kudos for getting that last thing checked off your "to do" winter off-grid list - points over the top getting Chris in that dip also. The pot roast and bread looked so delicious. You asked in your last video what we've learned from you - definitely cast iron pot cooking!!! I could almost taste those cinnamon rolls.
Love the cooking! And thank you for sharing your recipes in a future episode. It's been great to watch the way you've adapted to the cold climate for the winter. So pretty there.
Came across your videos while stuck in the house waiting for my medical to kick in so I could have hip replacement surgery. Now the wife and I are in Quartzite living out the dream.
Sold our house and purchased a travel trailer after 62 years in frozen, northeastern Minnesota. Next time you try winter camping, you should choose somewhere near Ely/Winton... That would be some tough winter living. Very rare if it doesn't hit -55 for at least one week... but hangs at -45 through most of January.
Love your videos and thanks for the little push to spend the rest of our lives not to live and die in a cold house. Best of luck to you!

I'm planning on living on the road with my 12 year old pup and traveling to the west coast from Texas by this time next year. Yes, my dog is in his last few years, but I want him to be able to enjoy nature (and he still has the energy of a 2 year old pup!) It's been so stressful trying to plan everything, especially with the tight 2-year timeline that I've given myself to get my Jeep ready. However, watching your videos put me at ease and remind me how worth it'll be once I'm actually out there exploring the wilderness.

We live in New England in a spot where we usually get several feet of snow. This far, we've only had a dusting. So far this month, I've sent my kids to school in shorts twice because the temps were in the high sixties.

I have absolutely enjoyed your winter off-grid life and all the prep you did for the winter. The polar bear plunge was fantastic, good job talking Chris into it too. I am so excited for the sourdough and cinnamon rolls...I actually have a small dutch oven I'll be trying them in for one...maybe a sourdough bread bowl for some hearty stew 😘

Your polar plunge reminded me of the time I jumped into a snow fed creek in the Black Hills. It was early spring and very warm out. My friend and I were suntanning and a jump in the creek sounded good. It wasn’t! All I could think was to get out and get out fast! I love to watch you cooking. It looks so good! With the heavy snow in the latest forecast for this region, I wonder if you are still in Wisconsin or have left.

I really don't know if you are brave or a little off for that plunge but I enjoyed watching and sitting here hollering get out now . I'm 82 and jealous of your cooking. I never was good with yeast maybe you could tell me what I'm might be doing wrong. The weather is a little crazy in Alabama also ,it is suppose to be 83 here Thursday. Great video! The skills you are learning will serve you well for the rest of your life! By the way, if you ever decide to build another shelter, I suggest you buy some Mylar survival blankets which you could cover your shelter before adding snow. Much warmer and no drips! 10 of them will easily fit in a pocket!

The cold plunge is what we call winter bathing in Scandinavia. It's popular and normal for a lot of people. A pro tip. Get your head underwater as fast as possible. It makes the rest of you feel better and the kick/high is amazing.

By far my favorite "North Woods" post yet! This was so much fun to watch and feel the joy through your lens.
The next time you decide to come north, I suggest you come further up, into the Upper Peninsula. And then I suggest that you at least stay north of our main Artery, M-28. That way you will be pretty much guaranteed that you'll get the full experience of winter. I remember one winter a few years ago where it stayed -30° for the majority of the winter. By the way, we're supposed to get another four to eight inches of snow tonight, through tomorrow afternoon.

Just did a vacation in key west. It was so beautiful 😍 we talked to some van lifers down in there and they said it was very tricky/hard. Not easy to find places to park etc. But man I wish I could go back to that warmth! Good luck on your adventure!

This is some advice for both of you on your decision to pack up and leave. I hope you saved some money. I wouldn't travel so far at first , I'm afraid the winter weather and moisture will so up many mechanical problems. Some might be real expensive, Moisture and rust will destroy many parts.
