Same here 62 my friend is 64 we love camping, our last trip was in the high 40's we had heaters for our cube tents. It was so much fun. We're in Florida
People like you who practice living in the wild n how to leave without city and restaurants n grocery stores will be the ones who will survive... I like watching bushcraft things n try n learn few things. You should do a video on how to make bread on the fire n how to cook on the fire im sure more n more people need to relearn or learn that art for the future as prices on things go up n life as we used to know changes...
My wife and camping buddies have the same feeling outdoors. There's nothing like it and when we try to invite folks to join us and we hear them talk about how that doesn't sound fun or it would be too hard it bums us out that they'll never experience that feeling. It's not for everyone though but I certainly love it and seek places that are wild and challenging to make comfortable. You are very lucky to have family that insilled this value; were doing the same with our kids in hopes that they have the outlook you have.
Simple you guys are killing it! It's so much fun watching 2 young adults understanding how to live a wonderful life without all the conveniences of modern day life! Keep living your best life. BTW I spent 38 years in the military. Worked for special operations command. Most of our current force couldn't do what you guys are doing! Just saying
It was amazing to watch you build your little hit for you and Akela,it was fascinating to see how you built it, you going to find water for your use, Akela standing guard and how sweetly she asked you to take her show off. You are such a strong amazing woman with a beautiful fur baby your family would all be very proud of you as are you subscribers👍❤❤👃🏻❤❤
What a great video!! You did such a beautiful job on your shelter! You and Akela are definitely in your element. Your dad is up there saying, " That's my girl." 🩷
Seemed like you & Akela relaxed there. Nice, comforting shelter too. Just struck me several times in this video, Akela looks absolutely majestic in some of her poses. I love the interaction between the 2 of you. I have a similar relationship to my best friend, a boxer mix. I never feel alone or lonely. Unconditional love. Enjoy your videos!!
Oh what i missed you2!!! I know your life changes and jou move on. But me-time with you and Akela helped me a lot to step out of my comfort zone and make dissions... My hart stood stil when you told us jou would go back...i thought jou lost it . Akela is your mirror. Jou unhappy, Akela as well. But jou stayed ....and the change in your face!!! Wow....back in your strength.... Be carefull....🥰
There must be some comfort in knowing that you can not only survive but flourish in any conditions. I really enjoy seeing how content you are just being with your dog in nature. I can say with complete honesty that I couldn’t do what you have accomplished. I will just live vicariously through you. Stay safe! ✨🐕🦋
What a beautiful place! Could I do this? No. But I do appreciate you taking us along. I have seen that look Akela gave you in the beginning of the video. When I took my very spoiled dog on his first tent camping trip...he gave that look. "Are you serious right now? We have a king-size bed...do you really expect me to sleep on the ground?" I bought a camp trailer, he still wasn't crazy about camping. But at least we had a queen size bed. I have said this before, but I love the respect you have for Akela, her needs and her feelings. I am curious about the butter to help with her hydration...tell me more.
This is one of my very favorite videos...I Loved every minute of it. I really admire you. I wish Akela was mine 😂, just kidding of course, but she is one beautiful girl and you are the best mom to her. Till next time 🙂.
Like most comments here - great video. I learned that you made a great flat bread; and how to build a shelter in the snow. Wow...thanks for your parents who taught you so much.
The BEST! Haha she would agree with you about the "evil squirrels"! One red squirrel was tormenting her all week out there. It would run from tree to tree and get low enough to be just out of Akela's reach. Over and over again it would play this game. It was hilarious to watch!
I applaud your intuition with Akila and your survival skills are insurmountable. I think I'd gain so much knowledge hanging with you even for a month... You are a hell of a person!
No coffee?! I'm immediately heading back... Seriously though, I like the way you describe the joy of being in the wilderness. I have backpacked since high school, all over the west, several times in Alaska, and twice in New Zealand. Getting too old now, so I am looking at doing the van thing. Sort of the same idea; where you stop is home.
U my luv R Amazing... Now I know why Chris Loves U !! U R sooo independent and can pretty much ( not pretty much but DO ) do everything for yourself and it's amazing Just watching you build your tent and your fire get your water it is truly awesome Please stay warm and safe out there by yourself Mucho love from your friend in Michigan Tam 💜💜💜
Happy to see you have some bushcraft skills. A van is 1 thing ….. bushcraft is quite another. Food for thought ….. I didn’t see a good bushcraft knife or all weather sleep gear. Wool is your best friend in the cold. Never sleep in your daytime clothes and vice versa. I’ve been doing this for 50+ years and still do. I wish you all the best young lady!
Thank you! I have very good wool base layers that I practically live in, and I use my buck knife for almost everything these days, even though I have a more typical "bushcraft" knife as well. My sleeping gear is rock solid for cold weather! I've been doing stuff like this for years :) Thanks for watching!

I SO MUCH relate to what you are saying about the joy of being in the outdoors taking care of yourself. When I was 27, I went to Telluride, CO and spent the summer in my pup tent 3 miles out from town (Eider Creek) . I had never done anything like that at all, but I LOVED it. That was 45 years ago, and it s still one of my best times in my life. I wound up spendng two years in Telluride, winters n a house in town and summers in either my tent or tipi sitting for friends that lived in the forest up Eider Creek while they traveled. I grew up in a really big city. I have always just loved nature…..and adventure. I am now, at 72, traveling the West living in my Subaru Outback. I think I just love being outdoors and I have always wanted to be independent and take care of myself

It's so good to have another video from you... Will see how it goes, you and your boyfriend are a great inspiration for an older solo female.
Good call on returning to base camp the 1st round. Many people are not inclined to return once they get out there- they think I'll just tuff it out. When you get cold everything takes longer to complete. I just did a winter survival campout with my girls troop and the biggest thing I let them know is that being alive is way more important than the ego. If it is not fun than it's dangerous. You can embrace the suck and still have fun. I was really excited for this video when you mentioned you were hoping to do this before winter hit. And I loved your use of fat wood. Shared with my troop and all my friends that think I'm a freakazoid for enjoying winter camping...LOL.
Im glad you enjoy the outdoors with your side kick there. I was brought up in the outdoors and at 68 yrs old now I still love the great outdoors as you do 🇺🇸👍👍👍👍❤️

I agree with you. I so admire the skills you have that allow you live in the forest. Wow. There is an indescribable feeling that comes from being in the forest, in nature.
