Watching the bond and unconditional love between you and Akela warms my heart. My wife and I follow you and love the show. I have a background in construction. I just wanted to tell you about the cleaning of your chimney flue, always wear a mask. Yes it’s great to clean, but what comes out of it is very carcinogenic cancer causing. The burnt ashes thrown out can be tracked back inside as dust on shoes and be bad for Akela and yourself. Please research it very dangerous to inhale . Love the show and keep making videos!!! Pet Akela for Us. Karen and Jamie. You can wet a news paper and lay in the bottom of you fireplace ti catch the dust as if settles and then easily pick it up and dispose of it. If you can run the cleaner down from the top , close the door, run the pipe cleaner down and let it settle. Then open door and dispose while wearing a mask. Be safe!!!

This is my very favourite natural ambiance. I'm from Northern Ontario, on the east side of Lake Superior. We experience the most wondrous winter wonderlands and I absolutely LOVE it when Im outside and everything around me has that beautiful blue glow. 💙

Thanks for the video. Chris's hair is really long! The meatloaves looked really good. How did the dessert turn out? It's funny how a simple thing like a block of cream cheese can be viewed as a delicacy or special treat. I’ve been watching you for quite a bit. I remember when you were wiring your van. That was something. I just love how you and now Chris are living your lives. If I can pass anything on to my Grandkids it would be to live intentionally. Live in nature. I pray they won’t be sucked into materialism. Striving to achieve objects or homes that really don’t fuel their souls. Thank you for being the humans that you are. You truly inspire others. I live in a 128 sq. ft. Tiny house. If I’m lucky I can retire soon and travel around the country in my Van. Having my tiny house to fall back on for my 80’s if I need to settle down. Thanks again. I love watching every Sunday.

they are all really good, but this one was great! maybe it was the end snippets you included, those were golden….but actually it was the whole laid back vibe, idk. But I just so enjoyed it…..see you next week! Have a good one 😊
You notice how the pattern was the same each time as the "ice" fell on the roof? Those were scratches of two alternating paws. They made the same amount of swipes each time. You’re gonna want to make sure no light can be seen from the outside after dark. If they see you they will try to get in. Bore them to death. Don’t hide, just don't encourage night behavior. I had these cats, much like mountain lions, knock on the door and when I didn’t answer, it grabbed the screen and thrashed it. They'll bang with their paws causing dimples in metal. Watch me shower through the windows and bang on those windows. It's a chilling experience to stand naked outside your shower and see raised whiskers pressed against the frosted glass. They'll react to any movement they can see from the outside. Just get in at dark and stay there. Yeah, you probably shouldn't put off winterizing much longer. Close up your gaps and get in at night. You're going to experience more being out in the middle of nowhere where they have free reign. In the cities you gotta deal with the people, but the cats hide. In the wilderness there's fewer people, but lots of cats. They wanna do what they wanna do. Make sure the next morning after these noises they haven’t dislodged something. In Glendale, OR, they scratched and pounded at doors and ripped at the aluminum trim on the trailer I was renting. I had to go out with screws and replace all the ones they'd scratched away, leaving the trim hanging loose. I had to have the HVAC closed up cause they'd scratched their way into the piping under the house and were trying to get in through the floor vents. In Caraboo Tehegee National Forrest they sqawked and screamed all around the car all night. It was so terrifying I peed into a new sweatshirt and bagged it to avoid going outside to relieve myself. All the trees were scratched up there. I should have known. But the noise. All night, screaming, attacking. Not sure you can prepare for that. Complete horrorshow. Seriously, go back and listen to the bloopers at the end of your recording. Its the same repeating pattern EVERY time. Akeala wasn't talking back to you. She was telling you there was a predator on the roof.
They're very motivated by what they see. They watched me through the windows go into the bathroom and while I stood in front of the mirror one hit the outside of the building causing the medicine cabinet to fly open in my face. Big bang and door flying in face, not fun, but they saw me seeing them. I always thought I was getting different treatment, because I knew they were there. Turns out, yes and no. You don’t know they’re there and they're certainly wacking away at you.
Again, not trying to scare you. Trying to help you. Take care of some of those light sources and you'll most likely be fine at night. You’ve gotta do something with the masterfan at night. It’s on the roof and is your most likely culprit. Get sealed up.

I love watching your struggles winter camping. I mean that in a kind way. It reminds me when I use to take no more than 6 boys and 6 girls from church youth group winter camping every year. I told them the only time that matters are, daytime or nighttime. Everything you do will take 3 times as long and will be twice as hard.

Great video. I had a kindling wood carrier when I had a wood stove made out of canvas. It was so handy I’m sure you’ll do a great job of inventing your own. There’s lots of them on Pinterest. I am really enjoying your journey in the woods.

Too funny the last minute! I was under some large ponderosa pines last night and the dripping was nonstop! When it started raining it put me to sleep but I woke up to silence...there was a layer of ice on everything! Got my leaks fixed though and the stove warms up my cargo conversion so well. Hope all is good with Togo. I actually think Winter is my favorite season off-grid. Trying to play catch-up with all your episodes. You have mad skills when it comes to figuring it out-you go girl!

Oh my goodness laundry was such a long day! I ended up not filming it, and overall glad I didn't! Maybe ill touch on it in another video, or steal some of Chris's footage. It worked great, we used two coolers and just brought up a ton of water to the campfire to warm up. It took a long time and we turned the bus into a sauna trying to dry everything. We just laughed through it! Thank you so much ❤️

Use a tracing wheel on your leather to punch little holes that will be a guide were to sew or use tracing paper with it to mark fabric. Easy peasy

You could use a gloved hand and snow to clean dishes ..in sandy places .sand is a very good cleaner ..hope this does help..

Hi Linnea! I'm wondering about the Berkey because I have not seen or heard about it before. Does it make the riverwater to safe drinking water? I was a bit concerned when you used the water from the Berkey for the sprouts since I know that they are a really sensetive produce when it comes to bacteria like salmonella, e-coli and listeria. Just want you to be safe out there and don't risk getting sick. Love your videos !
