Man this came a a perfect time. Me brothers ex is going through a similar experience. My bro cheated on her a while ago and that sort of deteriorated the relationship to the point where they broke it off a few months ago and she was devastated to the point of depression. It’s been a struggle trying to help her get through things and I think of her as a sister. Definitely taking notes!

Better if your brother took the notes

If she's asking you for money, tell her to take your brother to court!

The beat thing you can do is try to help her learn from her mistakes. Help her choose a career because the job she’s at won’t be taking her anywhere in life !

LET US ALL LEARN FROM HER MIS-TAKES :
this woman made herself vulnerable by :
1 - She moved cross country
2 - Racked up Student Loans
    3 - Had a child
4 - Settled for a low paying job
5 - She had no career in her field (to speak of)
6 - Somewhat dependant on someone else for her well being (housing, food, etc)
I have been telling my friends for YEARS, have a way to completely and totally support yourself. If you have a partner, him/her as well.
DO NOT make 15 mistakes BECAUSE YOU ARE IN LOVE !!!!!

Having a child while married is not a mistake, she could not have known that she would be in a divorce!

I remember my dad nagging my sisters for years about this growing up. Wanted to be sure that they could support themselves and not be dependent on a guy in failed relationships. Have career skills/trade to fall back on. Apparently it worked for two of my sisters and they didn't miss a beat after divorce and my other sister husband passing away.
They were all in the medical field like most women on both sides of family.
For me it was about the same and both of my parents said to avoid single mothers/fathers as well.
      Patience,common sense,love yourself first,that sort of thing.
As a family we have each other's back.

Americas student loan system is insane. In Australia, interest isn't even charged on student loans and is only repaid once you make around $52,000 per year (at this income, 2% of your wage will be deducted and paid off your student Loan/HECS). the only charges on HECS are indexation.

It's truly amazing how Americans leave school with a mortgage as a student loan or even higher than some mortgages.

@@cynthiamekwunye492 yep, people are really dumb. You can go to small local colleges and get a degree. My wife did that and we cashflowed the entire thing. Going to a big university costs a ton of money.

Whatever help he gives, it should be so she can become independent. Her situation isn’t that bad. She just needs to increase her income.

She will be taken care of for the next 14 years child support. That $11 job but she needs to make some changes now to better herself and that child.

If you really want to help your sister after her divorce, tell her the following: Next time, keep your cantankerous mouth closed. 2. Take marriage seriously. 3. Repeat #1. 4. Just follow Ramsey's financial program.

The caller said that she has a baby. She is going though dramatic hormone changes. The caller also says that his sister is depress. It could be that she is going though post partum depression which is a very common reason why divorce happens when the children are very young. I just visited the Family Court as a field trip. Half of the pending cases are cases where the children are about 1-2 that are involved in divorce processing. Also, I noticed that the brother on the phone didn't seem to have any ill will towards the husband.
