The bible warned us about people like this professor. He came in with the idea of demonstrating that GOD is unjust, contradictory and a murderer and that the followers of JESUS should deny HIM. He tried to use intimidation tactics as well but it did not work as the host is well vested in his faith and the knowledge of the bible. Thank for the "Thomases"and for the "Ethiest professor" -Some questions arise and require answers. Probably the professor was a very devoted Christian at one point who lost faith because of those texts in the Bible or circumstances in his life. The worst trials are when satan uses Bible verses to justify that God is evil. You also have to look and consider the Covenants those verses are . All of them are under the Old Covenant ....Israel's experience is to be for our learning. Do not put up with sin or mix the Word of God with Faith ....

Honestly, this was a good debate. The man came with real questions and they had a dialogue. Yes they shouted between one another, but at the end of the day the quest was for truth and understanding. It wasn't to prove one side was greater than the other. The man said in the spirit of Christ, yet he quoted old testament before the fulfilling of the scripture. We as humans live within time yet we focus on the past as if it was today and by doing so we give the past a great injustice and condemn all cultures and all morality of man thousands of years ago...this professor is quite foolish using his modern logic to state morality 2000 years ago. What is beautiful is that the creator of all meets us where we are at without compromise. And yes my brother you are right, humility is the first sign of wisdom and as a man that understands humility.....who is he that can council God and can understand the thoughts of God! We are but ants and even ants know their duties without the aid of an "overseer or ruler". This man has proclaimed (professed) himself wise to become a fool. Professed- professor- profession....when a man specializes in one thing he may focus until he is foolish in many other things.

This is a common apologetical and theological question of confusion. The answer is actually found in Leviticus 18, we find that “Uncover Nakedness” was a colloquialism for having sex and Noah’s nakedness would have referred to his wife. And in the original Hebrew the verse in Gen 9 says the feminine referring to “her tent”, meaning that Ham slept with his mother. And Canaan was cursed because it was Ham and his mother’s bastard child. We also see some common Genesis time compression here, because Canaan was likely not born yet.

It represents the defiant and prideful condition of humanity as we continually shake the fist in His direction.
The atheist position appears to me as one who speaks out of both sides of his mouth. Critical of God for not dealing with evil, and critical when He does. It speaks to the heart of man; deceitful and wicked above all things (Jeremiah 17:9).
Everything God does is consistent with His character. What you call genocide or murder is God’s moral judgement, and He is the ultimate judge in meeting out His perfect Law.
You also need to start with an understanding of what murder is; the unjustified taking of human life. God is justified in all things, therefore cannot commit murder. But a human? Oh yes, completely unjustified if doing these things in their own power.

My view on your example of Abraham and the destruction of Sodom takes me to a different outcome than you also. I don’t believe Abraham changed God’s mind at all. God knew full well Abraham would not find anyone righteous so went along with Abraham’s plea to show him that God was right in His judgement, demonstrated ultimately with Sodom’s destruction.
Your last point brings man into the equation again. Let’s not conflate the actions of man with God. God’s judgment has the benefit of seeing all outcomes across all time, as He is not bound by it.

If God was doing as you say (just going along with Abraham's plea), then God was being disingenuous. God should have said "you are wrong Abraham and you can't alter my decision." The professor makes it sound like it is idolatrous to not question those things, and he has a point. People have used religious texts and their interpretations to justify all manner of evil that they want to accomplish.
The professor's definition of a Christian fails to rise to the level of being actually aware that one is a sinner and who Jesus is, God incarnate, and what He accomplished by living a sinless life, dying on the cross and rising again. It would be nice if the professor took a moment to suspend judging the Bible and realize it judges mankind, and him, and to accept the loving provision of God in Jesus as remedy for his sin that it reveals.

This is a common point of confusion in apologetics and theology. The answer can be found in Leviticus 18, where the phrase 'uncover nakedness' is a colloquialism for engaging in sexual relations. In the context of Noah’s story, 'Noah’s nakedness' would have referred to his wife. In the original Hebrew, the verse in Genesis 9 uses the feminine form, referring to 'her tent,' indicating that Ham had sexual relations with his mother. As a result, Canaan was cursed because he was the illegitimate child of Ham and his mother. Additionally, there appears to be some time compression in Genesis, as Canaan was likely not yet born at the time of the event.

"YOU CONDONE MURDER! NOW I'M GOING TO SPEND 3 MINUTES SHOUTING AT YOU." - Atheist
Btw, many interpreters do not leave "saw his Father's nakedness" as a simple visual glance. Some have suggested there was either there was some kind of sexual molestation, and others suggest it is possible that Ham slept with his mother (Noah's wife). There is a passage in Leviticus 22:10 that forbids a man from sleeping with his father's wife (his mother or stepmother) because it would "uncover his father's nakedness". It's basically the same phrase in both passages in Hebrew being used to describe how Ham failed to cover "his father's nakedness."
Even if neither of those happened, it was still a very serious sin that a son thought his father's drunken nakedness was something to be joked about as a story spread around camp/the town. It would undermine Noah's authority as the family patriarch with the other sons, possibly planting seeds of rebellion in them. Either by disgracing his father in his brothers' eye or if he slept with his (step)mother, it would be a direct challenge to Noah's role as patriarch of the family and the bloodline of the God's chosen people, so yes, Ham's children would be cursed for this so that they would never be able to usurp the role of Shem in the Messiah's lineage.
Bottom line: It's MUCH more than a son simply catching a glimpse of his father naked. We have to read this with understanding an ancient Hebrew would. This atheist professor is determined not to listen to Cliff's expertise on the matter and dismisses him as just making things up. Very intellectually dishonest.

Curse is a consequence of bad deed.
If it happened, then you should learn from it.
      The bible explain itself.
It would be confusing if the bible didn't write the story of Ham and Noah, and how curse went down to Canaan, Ham's son.
People tend to overlook the meaning of "Nakedness of his Father ( Noah ), which if it led into curse, then we should have started to think there is terrible sins committed, instead of questioning God's authority.
Bible wrote the story, the reason, the curse and the judgement upon Canaanites.
That shows that the sins doesn't go unchecked and unpunished. No matter how long it past, it is still there and if we don't repent, we will face jugdement.
This is what people overlook and try to ignore that God love us, God warn us and God is long suffering, and God is waiting and always want us to be saved.
But we refuse to repent then you are going to face judgment.
400 years to wait until the sins of Amorites ripe.
      Did they repent? They didn't.
So whoever you are, it is a call for you to repent too.
Repent and accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
