Ford Maverick Cruise Control

- In this video, I will add, or should I say, 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 option on my 2022 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐗𝐋. I will be doing this cruise control upgrade based on the information provided by user 𝐌𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐𝐗𝐋 at the 𝐌𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 forum with a few changes. I am using my truck as a guinea pig for this over-the-shoulder, step-by-step tutorial but know that I have since upgraded four other vehicles with no issues!
NOTE: As previously mentioned, the information provided here is not something I created. It was widely available on the internet before this recording. Also, my dyslexia got the best of me, and I misspoke on at least one of the codes, so please follow the written instructions! This is a proven DIY procedure, but nevertheless, the liability of any damages to property or person lies on the person doing the cruise control upgrade. I have no idea when you will be viewing this video, but please know that any updates to this information will be posted at cubanredneck.c...
Believe it or not, many base model Ford Mavericks, both hybrids and EcoBoost, did not come equipped with factory cruise control. However, the ECU supports such a function. Adding cruise control to your 2021+ 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐗𝐋 or XLT is a two-step process that requires physical and software changes. The minute the Ford Maverick hit the street, mechanics, tuners, and car enthusiasts in general when to work on finding a solution to this minor issue.
Some of the first implementations reported online rely on finding parts from other vehicles that share the same platform, such as the steering wheel from the Ford Escape. We now know that unless a leather-wrapped steering wheel is what you are looking for, there is no need to replace it because all Ford Maverick trims share the same steering wheel and the same steering wheel facia. The only difference is the left and right switches! This is the first thing you need to order from your local Ford dealer to add a factory cruise control option to your 2021+ Ford Maverick XL.
𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬
As previously mentioned before, we can activate the 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 option for your Ford Maverick XL. We need to replace the steering wheel switches. The part number for the left one is Motorcraft SW8576, and for the one on the right is Motorcraft SW8579. With controls on hand, we can disconnect the positive terminal from the battery. Put the key in the ignition to the run position and rotate the steering wheel to the 9 o'clock position. Insert a small flat screwdriver into the small opening in the back of the steering wheel, behind the switch, and pry down to reload the airbag. Then, rotate the steering wheel to the 3 o'clock position and repeat. Disconnect the horn and airbag leads and rotate the steering wheel back to the 12 o'clock position. Slip four fingers on the inside of the facia. Push down with your thumb while pulling up with your fingers to release the facia. We can now replace the switches. For this, all you'll need is a small Torx. With the new switches in place, do the reverse of what you just did, starting with the bottom and moving your way up. Then reconnect the airbag and horn, and press firmly downwards until you hear it click.
𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥
NOTE: The codes and programing I used to activate the factory 𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 on "my" 𝐌𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 are slightly different from what you have seen elsewhere. I am not sure if it has to do with the absence of 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐨𝐭 𝟑𝟔𝟎.
So, counting that you have already downloaded and installed 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐒𝐜𝐚 from ForScar.Org, that you have a USB to OBD2 interface, and that you have successfully connected to your Maverick, here is the procedure!
Step #1 - Click on the icon that looks like a CHIP from the left menu. And select SCCM (as BUILT format), click play, click ok on the warning, and navigate to section 724-02-01, which we will change to 1258 4820 3030. Click WRITE ALL, turn the ignition switch off and on, click stop, and that is it! There are reports of the need to use CODE: 1258 6820 3050 for vehicles equipt with Copilot 360, but this is something that I have not been able to verify!
Step # 2 - Click the configuration TAB, go to the ABS option, click play, find CRUISE CONTROL, double click, and choose "Option #2 Cruise Control" from the drop-down menu. Click write, turn the ignition switch off and on, click stop, and you are done! I have one report that this worked on a HYBRID!
Step #3 - Click the configuration TAB, and go to the BdyCM Module Configuration (as BUILT format). Click it, click play, click ok on the warning, and go to section 726-04-05 In my programming, I only changed the last box to 8872! It has been reported and recommended that HYBRIDS use CODE: CB28 8141 8873
I hope this is of help. Feel free to comment!

Completed today, can confirm - 6820 for lane keep assist will keep this function active while 4820 will disable lane keep assist functionality. Thanks for the PERFECT tutorial!
... *AWESOME* Great to hear and thanks for sharing
Just got home from my local Ford dealership, they charged me $202.35 tax included to install the switches, that I had purchased previously, and used FORScan to make the changes as you specified in your video, and everything works perfectly!!!! I have a 2022 Maverick XL Hybrid with Copilot 360.
…. lol, I hope you know that the switches are the easiest part of the entire process! But, you got it done, and that's all that matters. Thank you for stopping by!
@@CubanRedneck
The dealership also did the FORScan reprograming, thanks again for the video!!!
... yes some dealers are doing that and that is great to hear!
@@gsaddler52 what dealer was it? I might go that route.
It absolutely works. Did mine today. Had to wait 4 weeks for one of the switches but other than that it went smooth. Literally just follow every step and you’ll get it. Great video.
Great to hear! ... thank you for stopping by!
Thank you for this very informative video. Did it yesterday for my Husband's maverick, and it works perfectly! I am so excited, that was the only down-side to his Maverick, and now he's a happy camper! Thank you again!!
... I am glad it was helpful! Thank you for stopping by!
Added cruise control today to my Maverick xl,,, thanks for excellent video. It worked perfect.
Great to hear! ... thank you for sharing!
I just used this to install cruise on my '22 Maverick Hybrid, with some help from Carlos Young of Texas Performance Industries (Cypress, TX). It worked perfectly! I used the codes from the blog post for Copilot 360 and the Hybrid, and everything seems to be correct. SO happy to finally have cruise on my truck.
One thing I didn't realize at first was that you need the Expanded License on Forscan, but I was able to get the two-month "free trial" and use that, so I didn't actually have to pay anything for it.
I just did mine today. Gosh I was nervous. It went great! Only thing is I would say is that when you pull the switch cables to squeeze the little tabs on the side. Lol I pulled and grunted a lot before I realized there was a tinny little pinch tab. Thank you!
... hey bud, thank you for stopping by, and congrats on getting your *cruise control* activated. I think I mentioned that, but I will review what I said in the blog.
I was gonna beg this good man to do my 2023 XL. I even bought switches. Then Ford surprisingly included cruise on the 2023's.
I would happily give him my (now not needed) switches just for this great video.
... thank you and yes, FORD made s standard feature for 2023 after they found out that we found out the option is jus a matter of changing switches! I am sure there are takers out there! Because believe it or not they are hard to get!
Did this today and worked perfectly on my 2022 XL Hybrid! Thank you for your excellent video and information on your blog. Got the switches from Rock Auto for $44 each and used the OBDlink cable.
... great to hear! Thank you for stopping by!
Thanks! I followed your instructions and now have cruise control on my XL. I have co-pilot 360 and used the code you suggested. Everything is working fine.
... *AWESOME* thank you for sharing!
Ford came out to my home to do a recall related to turn signals. When they finished they reset my XL to factory, which took out my cruise control. I tried to get them to fix it but they refused so I had to go back to your instructions and re-progam using Forscan. Something to keep in mind if you have Ford work on your Maverick.
... thank you for stopping by! And yes, this is a known issue. My dealer corrected the problem by re-entering the HEX code of step one on the original video (SCCM Module). However, not all dealers are as competent and or friendly. Last I heard, some are driving NEW Mavericks home and putting a few miles on them to get around the Ford price gouging policy in order to sell them 1000s over MSRP as used vehicles with low miles. Not only that, but I found the recall bogus because the Maverick has incandescent bulbs, NOT LED. If a bulb goes out, the blinker won’t blink! It will stay steady!
I just finished all my recalls finally the are done over 6 recalls
Thanks for this one, I did it and it was just as you showed. I must admit I was very nervous about changing the computer, I am not a tech person, but it was a piece of cake. Thanks!!!
Glad it helped! Thank you for stopping by!
Thank you for your honesty and transparency in making this vid... I have changed my order for the 2023 Maverick to an XLT to get the factory CC... I also added the "Interior Luxury Package" the delta on the XL Build vs. the XLT Build on Fords Website was only about $1k... and I ended up with a lot more luxury features than I really need... Happy Trails...
Good choice! ... the splattering of different colors all over the XLT was somewhat of a turned-off at my age, but for the money, you get more with the XLT. In December of 2021, two factors were driving my choices. #1 Time - When I ordered my truck, my contacts advised me that orders for the fleet or work trucks were the only ones getting filled. Perhaps that's why it got delivered in 80 days. The second was my vision for the vehicle of making it a *HOT ROD* of a sort. So rather than ordering all kinds of stuff, I would have taken off, I order it as plain as it comes. Thank you for the visit!
I just ordered the switches for $125 total. Hopefully it's as easy as you make it seem. Ive never done mods like this before.
Edit: thank you so much this was even easier to do than it seemed in the video. Now this 17hr road trip in a few months is going to be MUCH easier.
You Are the MAN Sir!!! I have two Mavericks one Hybrid the other Ecoboost AWD and your video helped me add cruise control to both!! The Ecoboost I had to do it twice because of the 360 copilot but I got it done the second time!! Thanks Again!!!
Glad it helped ... there has been some issue with the CoPilot and the lane assistant. Please read the comments below if you have any side effects! The correct code for (SCCM - 724-02-01) is 1258 6820 3050
Very nice 👍 thank you. The dealership quoted me $630 plus tax and an aftermarket was $315 plus tax for do it yourself. Your option seems the best regardless of cost.
Another thing I have been considering is a topper or as I know it, a cap for the bed. At over $3000 though it’s just not gonna happen. Any options for cheaper would be great. My idea was just a piece of plywood in 4 sections and apiece of material that might prove water tight. Thanks again.
… hi, and thank you for your comments. If you collect all the parts, *installing an oil separator catch can* should not take an hour to install. As to the topper, I will be making a hard tonneau cover out of composites. If you are handy, you should be able to covert the build into a topper using the same build techniques. In fact, I will make sure to offer details for that option. More than likely, I will be using Urethane Foam Board aka XPS Rigid Foam Board Insulation (or pink board), epoxy, and a combination of mat and 6 oz. Fiberglass! If you are not familiar with this, search TH-cam for foam surfboard building, It is the same concept. Very light, very strong, and everlasting!
.... BTW I just ordered materials for the rigid bed cover I don't it going to end up costing $250
Would you mind sharing which dealership agreed to the install? I am interested in this option.
.. call around or you can also also search Google for *"Tuner Nera Me"*
Just installed cruise control ,was very easy to do! Thank you for this awesome video helped alot. Took about 2 hrs to do
.... awesome! Glad it helped
Thanks for compiling this information in one easy video, it worked perfectly!
... thank you for stopping by! Glad it helped!
Hey bro I used your video to get mine installed and it worked like a charm. I didn't realize that Forscan software takes 30 minutes to get a free 2 week trial so I got stuck waiting. Also, that bezel was a bitch to remove without breaking it! I have also installed the harness and actuator for the tailgate, IMO the best 2 mods for an XL!
... awesome. A lot of people have asked for the actuator wiring. I need to add it to one of the videos it is just not enough for a single-subject video and too long for SHORT. TH-cam hates 2-3 minute videos they drag the entire channel down. As to the bezel, patience my friends, patience ...LOL
Thank you so much for this video! This absolutely is the best tutorial video out there for cruise control and can verify everything works perfectly. I have Eco boost with co-pilot 360 and couldn't be happier. Thanks for sharing and great video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.... Glad it was helpful and you're very welcome! Thank you for stopping by!
Great tutorial from a fellow Cuban Floridian! Congratulations on the Maverick and look forward to seeing further mods. Need to do a DIY OEM speaker replacement and bedliner tutorial!
... dimelo! There is a full sound system in the works, not some boom boom distortion crap you hear coming down the street. If you have ever listened to Martin Logan, McIntosh Amps, and things like that, you will appreciate it! Yes, I will be spraying the bed with Raptor, DIY fiberglass tonneau cover, intake, exhaust, and more. The weather has not cooperated over the last few weeks, but July looks good!
Installed it today. Went good no problems. Great video and on the mark. Thank you.
Great to hear! ... thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much. This worked amazing. I didn't have to rewrite any numbers in the first step ,,sccm Module, Do you know why that is?
I’m ordering the 2023 Hybrid XL. I’m so glad this can be done so easily, as lack of cruise control was the only thing keeping me from wanting the XL. Given that the truck is set up and hardly any changes need to be made, it seems it was omitted deliberately rather than “not included,” which is a cash grab to get people to upgrade to the XLT. This is awesome!
... thank you! I have only had mine for three months and still learning about it. This is my first Ford in more than two decades. But I have a lot more upgrades and mods in the works.
@@CubanRedneck just to confirm for the hybrid model, you only need to disconnect the 12v low voltage battery and stop power to the airbags, correct?
@@mikediiorio9346 ...correct. Under rear seat, right side! Also know that the hybrid takes a different hex code for BCM because they have a different transmission.
Yes, I saw that in your description, thank you for being so thorough! It makes people like me who are not that great with computers able to do stuff like this. If I have any questions I will let you know, but it could be a long time before I get my truck haha
Thanks for this! Just knocked mine out in about 30 minutes!
... thank you for sharing, glad it helped!
Hey Cuban Redneck, thanks so much for posting! I managed to get the cruise control installed just as you recommended. I was wondering if you know how we could disable the stop/start feature permanently? Thanks again!
... hey Scott, thank you for stopping by, and congrats on getting your CC turned on. My truck has a button in the center console next to the auto break feature (whatever that is called) that turn it off - However, in some AWD vehicle which doesn't have such switch, we have resorted to installing a small or dead battery (a pain in the rear) and then starting it 3-4 times for 1-2 minutes. If the ECU sees a battery with less than 50% life, it will permanently disable the feature. However, to turn it back on you have to go to the dealers and have reset the battery life code in the ECU.
Thank you for this video! Just did the full install today and it was seamless using your video and blog post.
... AWESOME! Glad it helped! 👍
Excellent, everything as stated, had to pay 12 bucks to Forscan to activate needed feature, but that more than ok thankyou.
... good to hear! Thank you for sharing!
Hey, great update! Have you had any issues with Fords “over the air” updates changing your changes back to stock?
Not at all ... I believe that affecting hybrids for the most part! But I have contact I will ask and reply if needed. Thank you for commenting.
The buttons on the right add phone voice controls for calls? Does that work when installed too?
... yes, everything works as before with additional functionality. If you get a chance take a look or search for a Lariat steering wheel. The switches I used are from the Lariat trim.
Thank you, you saved me a ton of money. This cruise control mod works perfect. I used his instruction and worked on my Ford maverick xl w/ copilot 360
… hey, it's great hear that you now have cruise control! Thank for stopping by and sharing!
Bro thank you so much for keeping this video up, it saved my **** again because I took my vehicle in for a manufacturer recall and the software update removed my cruise control@@CubanRedneck
Great video! And I look forward to seeing more on the Maverick. I just ordered my 2023 Maverick (Lariat version) and look forward already to some of the mods you will be doing. Obviously cruise control isn't one of them for me as my truck will already have it.
Keep up the good work!
… thank you, and congrats on the acquisition. Getting parts is still an issue, but according to those suppliers I am in touch with, it looks like availability will be accelerating towards the end of the year.

Thanks for the walk through, was very helpful. Any plans for any other forscan mod walk throughs?

It seems to be backing off timing at around 90 MPH among other things.
Well done! Thanks for putting together the Forscan piece of the video with the control switch swap - I haven't been able to get a video up for the Forscan piece and I'm so glad you got this resource out there for folks! Great video and clean work on the swap!

Incredible! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and experience. Still waiting on a Production date from FORD. But dealership did move me up to a priority 10. Doubt that it will help. Take care.
Fingers crossed! Stay in touch...
quick question...does it affect the volume and forward music control?
thanks
Not at all ... thanks for stopping by
It adds a mute button
Much appreciate you putting this together for us! I'll order the parts this weekend.
... no issue, feel free to shoot me a line if you have any questions.
Question I just had my 22 XL in to the dealer for the turn signal recall, now the oem cruse I added no longer works. Did maybe dissconnecting the battery or the recall repair tix maybe put the FORSCAN program back to as built? The siri is also acting different from when I dropped it off. Any ideas?
I've had the same issue.
I had to pretty much go back through all of the FORScan steps in this video again after the recall. In the first step where it detects the new buttons, it did not. I had to edit and select the ones he has shown on screen and then write. After all of that it works again.
... thank you for stopping by! The firmware will reset the BCM to factory specs as per your VIN. You will have to reenter all your HEX codes as per the original video. There are reports of "THAT" not working on the first try! If the CC does not engage after resetting your HEX codes, go back and change the last digit to something else, save it, go back reenter the correct digit, and save again! So, far we have a 100% recovery, but please let me know if need further assistance.
This exact same thing happened to To me this week at the dealership.
@@CubanRedneckChange the last digit of what?
Great overview, thanks! Did you not have to set the ABS code to 760-03-02 0200 0000 0573? I've seen that in most of the other threads on the topic. Something about setting the braking to work correctly with cruise control?
No need ... take a look at the ABS menu. There is a drop-down that sets a global configuration. There is more than one hex to configure, and that's why so many are having issues that include poor fuel economy.
Still waiting for mine to be built in July, Im waiting on an XL Hybrid in Cactus Gray with moonroof, 2k hitch and center console plug.
AWESOME ... The hybrid was extremely attractive, but I do too much highway driving. With that said, I am not disappointed with 35/36 MPG @ 73 MPH on the 2.0 EcoBoost before any mods! The goal is 39/40MPH @ 75 MPH.
@@CubanRedneck awesome, I roll pretty hard too. But I hope its work the wait.
This is sheer brilliance.
Thank you...
Awesome. Adaptive Cruise Control next?
…. Thank you for watching, and I am afraid not! Adaptive cruise control requires a series of sonar sensors, and I have not located any unused plugs in the harness to connect them. At first, I thought it was only the one in the front grill, but I have been told that the ones for the left and right lanes are also part of the loop. I haven't had a chance to study the wiring diagram, so in the meantime up in the air!
BTW - the front radar/sonar sensor alone, Ford Part Number: NZ6Z9E731A cost over $400.00
When starting the reprogram step one is the ignition switch to be on? I ask because at the end you say turn the ignition switch off and on again, so I assume it was on at the outset. Correct?
... to start yes, but every time you write to the ECU you have to turn the ignition off then on again before moving forward to the next step to clear the bus.
First two steps worked. Third one I keep getting that the vehicle conditions are incorrect
… thank you for stopping by! Two things can be wrong here 1 - the incorrect baud rate (if your USB adapter has a switch, turn it in the opposite direction) 2 - either step 2 is wrong, or you have a bad hex code. Please take a look at the blog for further details - cubanredneck.com/ford-maverick-cruise-control/
It worked for me! You're the man! Been waiting for a forscan video 🙏
… hey Dan, I have been told that an extended license is not needed unless you are looking to get into removing the speed limiter and things like that! I hear that due to the Ukraine conflict, some of the IPs to their servers are being blocked. Not 100% certain. Anyhow, try contacting the *FORScan Team* directly at contact[at]forscan.org
...AWESOME! Good to hear!
@@CubanRedneck from what I could tell you have to get an extended license. The 2 month free trial did end up working. It just took several hours to get the email reply for it, but it came eventually and I was able to make the needed changes!
Does this apply to the hybrid model as well?
… hey, sorry for the slow response. I failed to notice this message was in the junk box. … and YES, this has been tested and confirmed working on all models without factory cruise control. (Do know that there are different hex code for the hybrid! See the blog)
Yep, worked for my hybrid.
what other function can be added to the 2022 XL?
Hi, I have the Hybrid XL and followed the instructions. Thank you for the detailed instructions. I tested today and the lane assistant isn’t working anymore. I have copilot 360. Do you have any ideas to get it working again?
... many people have reported success with no issues or side effects. I personally have done one hybrid. This is the first time I hear about this and I hope it is not related to FosScan. So, far there have been two issues reported on the latest build. My first recommendation would be to go through the steps once again and pay attention to any warming by the software.
You did use the hybrid code?
Also if you followed the video, you should have made copies of the original settings. So if all the steps and hex codes are correct, I would restore the files back to factory. I will be sending a few emails out to dealer techs to see if can gather additional info, and hopefully, find out more details.
... one of my dealer tech friends tells me that the issue is more than likely related to (SCCM - 724-02-01) having the wrong hex code. Try this - 1258 6820 3050 - or - 1258 4820 3030
He insisted the you turn the key off and on after writing to the ECU and make sure the number are correct after doing so.
@@CubanRedneck yes I used the Hybrid code. I will try your suggestion when I get home today. Thank you very much!
@@CubanRedneck so I went home and checked those settings. It was set at
1258 4820 3030 and I changed to 1258 6820 3050 and that fixed the problem. Thank you so much!

Great to hear! ... thank you for sharing!
One more question, were the part numbers of the buttons you listed backlit too? just wanted to make sure everything matches and it's illuminated too.
... yes, the switches used are OEM FORD parts. They are the switches found on any Ford Maverick equip with cruise control from the factory including the Lariat lux trim.
Great video. I am planning on tackling this project but have a quick question.
Your video and instructions indicate to change the ABS from the no cruise option to "option 2", cruise control".
However, in the Maverick Truck club thread you mentioned, they indicated to also change
"ABS - 760-03-02 0200 0000 0573
Sets the braking to work correctly with cruise control"
Is this also necessary? I have a 2022 XL, Ecoboost. Without copilot 360. Thank you!
… hi, first of all, thank you for stopping, and by the way, we have the same truck. With that said, my truck was the first one I did. The charges, or should I say the deviation from other instructions out there, came from feedback from more than one Ford Master Mechanics I consulted at a local race track. I was told during my research that setting the ABS ECU to CC mode has a higher system hierarchy than setting the hex codes, which is lower in the command line. Since then, I have done several of my friend’s trucks, and 1000s have reported success using this procedure.
Furthermore, I have received emails from dealer mechanics saying this is correct. Please know that this was not something I opted to do but rather something suggested to me, and I tend to listen to advice from those who know more than me. This is my first FORD in over two decades, and still learning all the ins and outs.
Thank you very much for the detailed reply! I appreciate your help
… no problem, and if you run into any issues, contact me via my website. We have been able to figure out just about every bug encountered.
I just finished installing the buttons I ordered from Rock Auto and activating it via forscan. Your tutorial was perfect. Everything works great. The one thing I did differently was that I did not disconnect the wires leading to the airbag, even though I did disconnect the battery. I wasn't super comfortable with this part. What I found was that there was enough slack in the airbag wire to allow me to pop the trim piece out and turn the airbag sideways, which allowed it to go through the trim ring opening.
... thanks for sharing!
Just did mine it was a piece of cake

.. you can download that for free on the TH-cam site or simply turn on CC from the video scree. Once again thank you for stopping by.
I'm struggling trying to disconnect the airbag. Where is the small opening in the back of the steering wheel, behind the switch. Any tips?
… hey bud, thank you for stopping by. I am sorry you are having issues with that! If you turn the steering wheel to the left with the switch at the 12 o'clock position, the opening is directly behind the out edge of the airbag/horn cover inline with the switches. Both sides are the same! It is the only opening/depression on the back of the steering wheel.

... Ford dealer or online! Part numbers and detail instructions are listed on my blog.
Great video, I'd give you 100 out of 10 on this.
Wow, thanks! ... looking forward to getting more parts in and keeping the *Maverick* videos rolling.
hey can you do all this codes without the cruise control parts installed? I'm ordering mine and would like to start adding the codes and then plug in the parts later. Would that be an issue?
... sorry no. You can't update the ECU with out the correct switches. It will generate a check engine light that can only be erased by the dealer. You are modifying not only drive mode but also ABS breaks. It is just not safe.
also, they must have changed forscan because I can't do 'save all' prior to making changes. The only option is to 'write'
never mind that. Only able to save in As built
... yes, correct.
How do I get to blog?
... hi, thank you for stopping by. The link is on the header of the channel. But here is a direct link to the article in question. - cubanredneck.com/ford-maverick-cruise-control/
Hi. Would you happen to know if it's possible to order an xlt leather wrapped steering wheel with the cruise control from Ford and install it in an xl? Thanks.
... to the best of my knowledge yes, however, most people chose the steering wheel from the ESCAPE it is a littler bit nice. Stop by a local dealer and check it out.
If I have an XL that has the co pilot package am I able to set up adaptive cruise control
… from the information I have and the hex codes provided, no. I am friends with a senior master Ford technician who explained that according to his training, additional hardware was needed. However, he has yet to work on two simultaneously to plug them up to scan the database and compare.
+1 for this functionality…..video idea…
@@richardgarlick3861 ... thank you!
Installed cruise on neighbors Maverick, and worked great, then Ford had a software recall ,and cruise not working. Using Forscan, I went back in and went through first two resets ok, then final set up for BCM keeps saying interrupted so I can't program. Anyone have any help?
Hi, anything i should do different for a Hybrid with 360? Cheers!
… hey, thank you for stopping by. Procedure wise, no, but the hybrid takes different codes. Check out the blog.
can i use same codes for the XL hybrid without copilot 360?
… hey KD, thank you for stopping by! On the only hybrid I have done, I used the codes on my blog - cubanredneck.com/ford-maverick-cruise-control/. However, if you read some of the comments below, there are other options. My recordation is to use the codes in the blog. If you experience any side effects, consider the two options listed below. I am friends with several dealer techs, and we have been able to get everyone running.
I want to do this so bad on my 2022 Maverick AWD XL. But I'm really nervous I'm gonna screw something up
… hey thank you for stopping by. If you read through the comments, many people with little or no experience have successfully done it. With that said, know that many local dealers are now doing this. If in doubt, consider talking to your service adviser
If you do this, doesn't it void the warranty???
…no, all I am doing is turning on a feature *FORD* build into the vehicle. The switched are from FORD, as well as everything else. FYI, many dealers are now offering this via the service dept.
Hey everyone! I have 2022 Maverick Hybrid XL no CP360 (Hell, I'm surprised this cardboard box truck even came with seats, let alone creature comforts.) Just want to confirm what size Torx screwdriver I need to remove the screws on the back of those factory switches. Thank you!
works great, however I brought my XL in for service and they did a safety recall that had to do with turns signals. They did something to some module in the configuration that is not letting my cruise control work now. Has anyone run into this problem after FORD touched your vehicle?
I had to pretty much go back through all of the FORScan steps in this video again after the recall. In the first step where it detects the new buttons, it did not. I had to edit and select the ones he has shown on screen and then write. After all of that it works again.
... I think I reply to you via email, but anyway here is what yo need to do! You need to reenter all your HEX codes as per the original video. There are reports of "THAT" not working on the first try! If the CC does not engage after resetting your HEX codes, go back and change the last digit to something else, save it, go back reenter the correct digit, and save again! So, far we have a 100% recovery, but please let me know if need further assistance.
Yes, All good now after editing and rewriting via Forscan.
Thanks All🛻🛻
Just had turn signal recall done. No lore cruise control. Had to redo cones but the only one that changed was the bdycm last block 8872. all working now
The XLT gets cruise control as standard.
… hey Joe, thanks for commenting. As previously mentioned in another comment, there are reports of inconsistencies with some units built back in 2021. I believe that the ordering and standard options per trim are considerably more predictable.
@@CubanRedneck Inconsistencies in what? What do you mean?
… the comment I made echoes off-the-records comments from more than one person involved in Ford fleet vehicles' maintenance and or order. Aside from that, there have been a lot of little things reported on both Reddit and Maverick Truck Club about this. From my own experience, I have a friend in Pensacola that has a burnt orange XL that came with the orange accent door panels. Not something he ordered and something I thought was a Lariat thing. I met somebody with a hybrid who told me that Ford had accepted his order with 4k tow packages but canceled the option a few weeks later. Does this matter? Not really. And FYI - there are rumors of some trim options shifting before ordering opens up again. At the end of the day, if your truck already has cruise control, AWESOME. If it does not, this is how "I" upgraded mine. This is a how-to video on cruise control, not a report on what is standard on trims. Did I misspeak? I don't know. As I said, I simply echo comments made to me.
Wait.. the truck comes with no cruise control?!
.... lol, no the 2022 Ford Maverick XL did not come with cruise control. It is a standard feature for 2023+ after FORD found out that everyone figure out it is a matter of changing the stiches in the steering wheel. Not that it matter the 2023 was sold out in a week! Thank you for stopping by!
Mines not recognizing bdycm. Any idea what to do?
… hi. This is an issue related to the baud rate. Here are several solutions:
#1 - If the software did not ask you to flip the switch on the USB adapter, consider going to "ELM327 MS-CAN support" advanced settings and changing the from "Auto" to the "HS/MS switch" option. Disconnect and try again...
#2 - Delete the vehicle's profile, then reboot the software, then try reconnecting as a new vehicle.
#3 - Do #2 and flip the switch to one side before connecting. If it is still not recognized, disconnect do #2 and try again with the switch in the opposite direction.
In other words, it should prompt you to switch over when required. If it fails and it doesn't work on one, do it again but in the other direction.
I love doing upgrades like this, but in the case of the Maverick, spending a couple more grand for the XLT is totally worth it.
… for me getting an XL was not as much about cost but time. I wanted the trailer hitch, and I would have liked the Copilot 360 and several other options, but my insiders warned me of delays with specific options. After totaling my wife's SUV, I was on the clock to replace it if you know what I mean. Also, know that some of my friends are still waiting six+ months later. I got my truck in 87 days from order to delivery!
@throttle shots ... Agree 100%
Hey, I noticed you give out wrong numbers during the first section of programing. That freaked me out on what was right.
…yes sorry about that. Dyslexia got the best of me. The numbers on the description are tested and correct!
@@CubanRedneck thank you, I now have CC on my LX. 😀 with your guide.
…AWESOME, glad I was able to help!
Does the part number change if you have Co pilot 360?
... not that I am aware, the switches I used are the same as in the Lariat. To the best of my knowledge all you get different with 360 is a different signal light stick and more advance display module on the dash for the extra features. Aside from the mirrors and all the extra electronics of course!
@@CubanRedneck Good to know, Thank-You!
I'm going to buy a 2023 xlt
... I believe ordering open up on 08-15-2022! They are predicting another sell out in a matter of days.
Hey boss do you have any suggestion on how to configure/ solution with error PCM : unable to read DTC? thanks
... Hey thanks for stopping by. This is an issue with the baud rate, a mismatch between the ECU and the USB adapter. If your USB adapter has a switch, disconnect from the car/unplug the adapter/flip the switch one way and try it. Repeat with the switch set in the opposite direction if that does not work.
@@CubanRedneck which plug the obd reader or the usb going to the computer? thank you
OK… first let's do a driver check
Type on the Window's search bar (lower left) "Device Manager" and make sure that there are no warnings on Universal Serial Bus Controller with the USB adapter connected to the PC, not the truck.
Step "0" - Close ForScan
Disconnect the Adapter from the truck and PC
Restart ForScan
Connect the USB adapter to the PC then truck (note in which direction the switch is at)
Turn Key to run position
Click Connect in ForScan… If that does not work
Go back to "0" Do everything all over this time set the switch in the USB adapt in the opposite direction.
@@CubanRedneck I tried to place the switch hs and it says "found control module "
and in MS it say "PCM : unable to read DTC"
It wont proceed to the next modules .. Do you think the obd reader is busted? Or the module?
... it is starting to look like the adapter. There are numerous threads on the ForScan forum about this, many if not all resulting in a bad adapter.
I just got my maverick and have to good obd2 link $59. Using latest forscan 2.3.48 I get an error that pops up saying unable to identify vehicle. I'm stuck at this point. It cant identify my PCM.
... that is a baud rate error. Go to connection configuration and try manual settings.
KR3A-14C204-BJE
That worked for me. It identified vehicle as a ford 5.0 but it had correct as-built data.
Booyah 👊😁👍🇺🇲
... thanks
Going through this process with my Focus. The big question is why Ford has got to spend more money to delete features from the base model. There's no way it's cheaper to make a second set of steering wheel buttons just to delete cruise control from the base models. It's anti-consumer really. But I guess it helps upsell the upper trims when they remove extremely basic and almost necessary features from the base models. Like Cruise Control.
Heck the base Focus doesn't even have an ambient temperature display, but I don't really care about that...
Regardless, nice video!
… I hear you, brother! It is all about selling trim packages! Thank you.
Reporting back that I did have success. Swapped the wheel, turned cruise on in the bcm, done. Cruise control is working
...AWESOME! Not having cruise control may sound insignificant until you don’t have it!
you typed 4820 in the 724-02-01 but said 6820.
It is 6820
... yes I know, sorry about that I'm so dyslexic is not even funny.
I mentioned that in the description and know that the hex codes in the description and blog are correct!
@@CubanRedneck so just to be clear it is supposed ot be 6820 and not 4820?
Well, I’m embarrassed. I followed the instructions in the vid and was unable to enable cruise control.
.... hi, thank you for stopping by. What's the issue you are having? What type of truck?
Xlt has cruise control as standard….
… that is what I taught, but I have heard some people report otherwise. According to my sources, there were some inconsistencies in the first batch build in 2021. Thanks for commenting.
I just installed my new leather steering wheel into my XL mav today using your video and a couple others to help with forscan! Great content!
.... call around! Or consider searching GOOGLE for *Tuner Near Me*
I bough a ELM327. Could not get it to work with my laptop. Checked Forscan web, they said no with a laptop. Recommended OBDLink EX. plugged it in and automatically installed and was ready to go.
…. Hey, thank you for stopping by. Yes, if you are not into doing this regularly, the ELM327 can be challenging, and there are issues with USB drives and all kinds of things, which is why I recommended an older computer. I have a race car that we run on Panther spec races, and adjusting things like converter lock RPM and other features are routine changes that need to be made. For that, the ELM327 is a better choice. I have the OBDLink EX listed on the blog for the simple reason that if this is going to be a once in a lifetime and it will be for many, it is a better choice. Nevertheless, and regardless of what OBDII adapter you use, I hope you successfully activated the *cruise control feature* on your Maverick. Thanks again for stopping by and sharing your experience.
