    The R&A should have introduced laws banning Jarmo Sandelin’s sunglasses before they worried about his driver length. Such fashion crimes cannot go unpunished.

      He looks like the villain in a 90’s teen movie about the plucky goofball high school student who plays an 18-hole playoff against the snobby only son of a local real estate developer on a bet to win his grandma’s house. And in the process he steals his hot-but-down-to-earth girlfriend.

    Hey guys! Once you go longer you have to stiffen the shaft flex. I have a longer shafted driver that is xx flex and it swings like a regular shaft. I’d like to see you stiffen the shaft like the long drivers do in order to get less dispersion and longer drives. I always enjoy watching your vids, thank you, your doing a great job!

    @allanfahrenhorst-jones6118 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi guys, yes I agree with your assessment.
    My thoughts are as a senior and an average golfer. If you were just swinging a club in our normal mode the extra length might be better. There is no way we can get club head speed or ball speed anywhere near a pro player. Just reaching a green in two shots is mostly impossible.

    Very interesting. Agree with others on trying lower loft high tee see what that does. I would also be interested in looking at differences on how you adjust swing weight I.e. trying counterbalance vs reducing head weight. Does it make a difference leaving more weight behind the ball? Love these experiments 👍🏻

    I wondered if ping had different weights for the back part of the g410. I’d love to split it to 10 grams toe and heel vs just the 20 gram in one spot. I think it might help reduce spin a bit too since the weights wouldn’t be in the furthest back spot.

    I wonder if the club path is more neutral because the arc is bigger? Kind of like a big hula hoop vs a smaller one lined up by the ball - the larger hoop would look “straighter” by the ball then a small hoop?

    Awesome stuff but has Foresight not fixed the ridiculous low spin high launch bombs? I would love to see you guys spot shots out at the range, not going to carry 340 @180 ball speed. Fun to watch though, love to see people see what they can do athletically.
    Also, if you play around with swing weight/overall weight, you will be able to swing that club significantly faster. 6-10 mph faster over your stock driver.

    At 48" if you backweight the driver and grip it at 45", would that increase the speed of the clubface through the hit? Or would it increase the overall weight of the driver too much? Bringing the balance point back to where it was when the club was 45".

    Personally as a former long driver after 17 years it gets to a point of diminishing return Matt does not have the strength to pick up any more speed just because the length of the driver is longer he should just stick with his 46-inch driver he is plenty far he's not built for long drive but he has a very nice swing and make solid contact

    • @thebeardedgolfer9819
      @thebeardedgolfer9819 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Joe Miller used a 1 degree in 2016. It’s a different game, different swings, giant muscles and giant men other than Sadlowski. Their driver heads actually have less rebound than regular production drivers due to beta titanium and because at their ball speeds, the faces would crack after five shots with a production driver. If a regular fellow wants to get into longer drivers for fun, one would need to maybe tip a light weight appropriate flex shaft, add shaft to the grip end to get the length if needed, and get the lowest degree mass production head with the lightest weights they can get so it is remotely manageable, grab some 4” tees and have at er.
      I personally have a few older long drive heads in 7.5 and 6 degree 3x and 4x that are over the 48 limit and are fun as well as a couple legal Kranks at 3.5. Hang time is nuts with the older higher lofted ones, with carries up to 350 at sea level and no rollout but they are heavy. This is were the lower lofts come in so you can land at say 335 and roll to 370+. At 3.5 degrees and 48”, the release of hands, wrists and shaft all have to be perfect or you get nothing but disappointment. I have yet to see some one try my Kranks xxx at 3.5 degrees and get it airborne other than one friend who is a monster at 6 foot 4, 230 lbs of nothing but long drive muscle. (check out Jesse Pettersen). I can do it sometimes after significant warm up.
      There was a good comparison video of a world long drive competitor hitting balls with a long and standard length driver and even he said if he wasn’t tuned up, the shorter driver was easier to hit long and certainly more consistent. Shorter is typically lighter and therefore easier to build club head speed with.
      Thanks for the vids!

    • @biggregsparks8364
      @biggregsparks8364 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thebeardedgolfer9819 you are 100 percent correct. My 45 inch driver and my 48 xxx swing about the same speed, unless I warm up extensively with my 48" xxx speed sticks and use 4 inch tees. At that point, my 48 inch 4 degree driver routinely gets over 190 mph ball speed.

    Did I miss something about gains? like the formula is I=mr^2 and T = Fxd(lever arm) so that's why we see the distance increase from 340 to 374 total... so 30 something yards from 2" longer is a freaking serious gain right? would be impossible to do with a 46". Control and consistency is lost yes, but what percentage of time has been spent with a 48" compared to

    Longer club = greater radius of swing.
    So in the hitting zone where swing path is measured, the arc curvature will be shallower hence less "in to out".
