    This is one of the best well thought out videos I’ve ever watched. Thank you I’m contemplating this swap on my ‘84 NA.

      I recommend it, mine is in and just got my steering rack hooked up and coils relocated with the hydroboost. Tpc kit for the win.

      For sure!!! Was hoping for the rest of the project.

    We always put ours in from the top. Of course, our radiator and accessory drives are not installed during that process.

    Lots of good info in 10 minutes, much appreciated. I'm goin in from the top.

      Good luck on that, so much easier from the bottom. But I say that cause I have a lift in which i pulled it up from bottom with engine hoist after dropping car over engine.

      @@wheeleroharrow6501 thanks, but honestly it wasn't even that bad. I had the engine bay stripped for paint and the crossmember out so I just lowered it in sideways and spun it into place. It fits better than the awful slant 4 porsche put in there.

    All good info man! I’m looking at doing this swap in the future! I have an ls3 ready to go. Just searching for right 944 turbo. Tips/tricks and things to watch for and hope to see more videos on this. Keep up the good work 🤟

    What axle and motor mounts did you use? Building a 5.3 for my 944 build and trying to find a little more Info

      Go to Texas performance concepts for all the conversion parts you need including motor mounts, oil pan, dual pass rad and much more. Bellhousing adapter with clutch and tob are a must from him. Factory axles on transaxle are fine but solid urethane your transaxle mount is a good idea for the increase in hp

    Is this the kit from renegade hybrids? I have an ‘87 944 NA and have been looking to do this swap for a long time.

    • @wheeleroharrow6501
      @wheeleroharrow6501 ปีที่แล้ว

      The motor mounts look more like Texas performance concepts kit which is what I went with. Highly recommend all of his various conversion parts.

    Good luck getting that steering shaft back on with the engine in the way! I put a new shaft in my car and even with the engine out it took me 2 hours of fighting to get it to slide all the way on.

    • @wheeleroharrow6501
      @wheeleroharrow6501 ปีที่แล้ว

      I got lucky with my existing shaft that wasnt rusted much at all. Just had to undo the cross member carrier bolts and pull down hard on the shaft of the rack to rotate its angle down and plop steering shaft went right on. I didnt see how a smaller bolt worked for others. It slips over less of the shaft on the rack cause of the spacer drop but still got same bolt to go through. It didn't pinch the knuckle when threaded in so I loctite blue'd a nut on the back of the steering knuckle bolt for the win. On to the dual pass rad install now. One note I learned and still have to fix. Apparently your fittings on steering rack for hydroboost need to point to the radiator for hose routing, hoping to be able to wrench those another 180 while it's installed as I really don't want to redo all this....

    I have 84 944 na can I use original trans?

    • @wheeleroharrow6501
      @wheeleroharrow6501 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes you can but no matter what 944 trans you have only hit wot on a roll. No off the line or you risk exploding your transaxle, even if you have a 944 with LSD like I do.

      I used the stock rear end on my 5.3l 83 n/a and am fully prepared for the day i give it the beans and the horse porques shred that tranny. I'll deal with that mess when it happens, till then, it spins the wheels.

    • @wheeleroharrow6501
      @wheeleroharrow6501 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dynomantar9733 nice, i have a little more reason to be more careful as i have the 5.7L from a corvette with a competition cam 222/224 112LSA and the 944 turbo transaxle with LSD is rather a unicorn so i'm aiming to not abuse it. hoping the next horse in the stable can take on that role but the waiting list for a c8 z06 is a long one so it'll be another 2 or 3 years on that note. Good time to finish my build lol.

      @@wheeleroharrow6501 don't be so careful have some fun that lsd will be fine porshe made it, it's strong, and most importantly my 5.3 makes more power than that 5.7, almost 500 at the crank

    • @wheeleroharrow6501
      @wheeleroharrow6501 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dynomantar9733 well that's a pretty interesting and important piece of info. everything i read on 944hybrids was saying that you were good for 400hp at the wheel all day long BUT NO LAUNCHES. I only have 255's on the back on 17 boxster cup twists so should still be able to make 'em spin and maybe not be so delicate with it as you recommend 😉👍

    Why not just get a Camaro that already had this engine in it? It will also be MUCH cheaper and easier to beef up the rest of the drive train if required, which it probably won't. I hope the swap in this video is running a 951 transaxle, 'cause they're the only ones will stand up to a V8.

      passive. there’s a list of good reasons. ever driven one that’s been swapped?

    • @tempest411
      @tempest411 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Russell_and_Rosko Have you ever driven a Ford Pinto with a 460? It's just as pointless. In the case of the Porsche, the chassis are hardly as plentiful, cheap, and robust as any Camaro, Mustang, or Charger, and those chassis came with V8s, and can be set up to do every bit as well on the track. And speaking from personal experience, the chassis being newer are manufactured to a much higher standard. For crying out loud, the dashboards on 944s are foam over CARDBOARD!!!
