I had a problem with an Astra 08 auto, the reverse stopped working. I disconnected the battery to fix a coolant problem and then only reverse would work. I then disconnected the battery, touched the cables together to reset the TCM transmission control module. Then you need to retrain it by slowly shifting all the gears 3 times. Then drive it around slowly, then stop and go through all the gears again slowly. Eventually the car started going forward and each of the gears started working. Dodged a transmission replacement 😅

My dodge avenger is similar. Put it in reverse step on accelerator and only thing moves is rpms. Barely goes back, if im on a decline im going forward in reverse. So my question is, does this problem spread, does it get worse? Should i expect problems when im in Drive to come?

Hey bud, always start suspected transmission problems with fluid inspection and level check. That could tell you a lot. From there see if any transmission codes in the computer, and from there you may need to simply just remove the trans pan to see if anything came apart

Are rebuilds more affordable than a a used transmission? I lost reverse on 2010 Toyota Matrix S AWD with 164,000 miles and a U140F transmission. ATF fluid is burnt. Black metallic silt clinging to pan magnets. I changed the ATF fluid and filter (OEM spec), disassembled and cleaned the valve body and installed a Zip Kit, cleaned and tested shift solenoids, replaced p/n transmission range sensor, replaced transmission solenoid wire. No dice. I used the vehicle on the farm for hauling a landscape trailer with 800 lbs cargo loads the past 3 years

Hey I subscribed! So my old 1995 Nissan d21 V6 4x4 pickup lost reverse today and I still have to check the trans fluid. Would it fix anything if I put more of the correct ATF in? I'm gonna take it to a transmission shop this weekend.. I had to push it out of the parking stall I was in this evening. I imagine I shouldn't drive it anymore unless it's straight into a lift like you did with this Chrysler. I don't want to have to replace the transmission but I will if I absolutely have to. Hey bud, just about the only thing you can do is verify the trans fluid level. I agree, if its low, add the proper amount then find and fix leak. Thats just about all you can do. Not sure if this year model was computer controlled.

Hello, I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.4 L, a couple of days ago I tried to put it on reversr to park on the back of my building and the reverse didn't engage, I tried a few times back and forth and nothing but I discovered that if I put it between the P and R then reverse works but if you let go my hand from the stick it goes back to either parking or reverse position, please can you help telling me more or less what is going on? thanks I appreciate, JD
I had an old voyager had the 41te had the same rtv seal the tranny was going out and I did everything I could from trying inspect the harness all the way to changing the solenoid pack but from my experience those transmissions are garbage in my opinion. Not recommended at all. Now I’m experiencing no reverse out of a 2000 explorer. I’m not sure I want to even look in to it. I’ll probably just replace the transmission all together

So if it high milage 200, and no reverse is bad so I might as well get a new transmission but I had gotten it done a couple months ago pay $1,600 for a rebuilt one and it was making some noise and I thought it was the flywheel and then I need to get the truck in the shop or get my hands on it may take me awhile but I did the fuel pump for 2006 GMC I had to learn cuz I can't afford to pay a mechanic

Okay I have a 2015 Camaro 1SS A6 …The car starts but Putting it in R or Drive it doesn’t move. Also when I start it, it moves slightly kind of like when u put a car in park and let go of the brake. It won’t rev pass 2k if it does I’m forcing it. I don’t wanna start spending money on the wrong thing. I did however find out the fluid/filter was supposed to be changed at 46k miles I’m now however at 52k and I got the car at 46k but just learned of this. Hi Sir, my car was having a whinning noise from the transmission, but the car was moving very well, both forward and reverse, to check for the whinning, they open the transmission pan, no any metal particles, they cleaned the body valve, checking the shift solenoids, cleaning transmission filter, they change one of the shift solonoid with new one, because during test one solonoid was defective, now after puting back everything, now the car is slightly hesitate and delay in reversing, but moving forward very well what might have gone wrong with it?

Hello my friend, if you have every other gear but reverse and you have the correct level of fluid, your problem could very well be internal..it also likely set a code..due to the year and mileage it my be time to drop the pan and see if any hard material in it

At the point, you simply need to get the trans replaced. Unfortunately rebuild cost generally around 1500 to $2,500 / usually you can put a used transmission for under a thousand depending on model of car

If fluid filled to specs and its not a cable issue its simple, your transmission has to come out for repair or replacement. Nobody on youtube know whats going on inside your transmission buddy. Okay I have a 2015 Camaro 1SS A6 …The car starts but Putting it in R or Drive it doesn’t move. Also when I start it, it moves slightly kind of like when u put a car in park and let go of the brake. It won’t rev pass 2k if it does I’m forcing it. I don’t wanna start spending money on the wrong thing. I did however find out the fluid/filter was supposed to be changed at 46k miles I’m now however at 52k and I got the car at 46k but just learned of this. I also get a transmission hot idle engine message then service stabilitrak. Anybody got insight ?

Hi Sir, my car was having a whinning noise from the transmission, but the car was moving very well, both forward and reverse, to check for the whinning, they open the transmission pan, no any metal particles, they cleaned the body valve, checking the shift solenoids, cleaning transmission filter, they change one of the shift solonoid with new one, because during test one solonoid was defective, now after puting back everything, now the car is slightly hesitate and delay in reversing, but moving forward very well what might have gone wrong with it?
i think you shouldn't change the soilenoid. just clean it.. or change both A & B

Hello my friend, if you have every other gear but reverse and you have the correct level of fluid, your problem could very well be internal..it also likely set a code..due to the year and mileage it my be time to drop the pan and see if any hard material in it

At the point, you simply need to get the trans replaced. No shops are risking fixing transmissions any more..Same as this videos, the fix was to replace it..I just decided to film how I got to that point.
