    Just finished this operation yesterday. You do not have to drop the valve body. You can remove one solenoid with a number 20 Torx head bit. If your patient you can worm it out and worm it back in. Welded on my rod turned it into 4.980 in. Reverse is Rock Solid. Do not drop the valve body no need to

      @@tysonrobinson9575 the factory maximum length for for the reverse Rod is 4.980. Since my Reverse band was Worn i made mine the maximum length. Worked out good
      if it's too long you will feel it pulling reverse when on
      flat ground, then you will have to repeat the entire process. Don't overthink it it's not rocket science. You can however buy a factory for .980 Rod
      I spent more time thinking about it than it took to do it

    The reverse servo push rods are select fit when they build the transmissions (i.e. they are different lengths to give proper band clearances when the trans is NEW). There are aftermarket adjustable push rods available to adjust the band for wear..... like used to be standard.

      It lasted a couple weeks.... Until I got stuck and had to severely work the trans. I hit R too early in the attempt at rocking out of a snowdrift and she snapped. I feel the band would have lasted the season. If it was just a regular daily driver type truck I bet it would last indefinitely or until something else in the trans failed.

    • @leebarnes655
      @leebarnes655 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JRA79 You might be interested to know that the 4T65E has a forward band breaking problem and the sonnax fix is a longer push rod S84908H for that apply servo. As they age, the timing for various shifts becomes delayed by missing clutch and band material. The 4T65E measures this time and boosts pressure when the time is too long. And this results in maximum pressure just as the too short stock rod hits the band and band breakage is a common issue with those. In that case it's the forward band and when it's done broke itself like this, you are walking. So a further problem is the regulation of the pressure rise during this timed pressure rise and that particular valve (AFL) in that transmission wears out about the time the band does as well and this further aggravates the issue. That fix is kit K098 from superior. I would suggest every pressure kit sonnax has for yours to steer that problem away from the table. P1881 is a common code for my transmission and the sonnax rod appears to be 2/10 longer than stock and that is 200 thousandths - 0.200. Twenty won't even compensate for what has worn out, you need to shorten the timing drastically as they all do this timing thing. A better rig to build would be one that bolts on and measures how much it moves before you take it apart and then shorten that measurement by 0.010 so that the band isn't applied when not called for. I got my dial micrometer for 20$ from harbor freight and it would work fine for this. They will ship right to your door, I live the rural life.

    Dude, you lost pressure and wore out the reverse band. Plowing heats up reverse bad more than any job. Forget what your doing and replace the reverse band. Why did you remove the valve body? Band pieces were most likely in the pan. Dark oil? burnt smell to oil? Rebuild and replace the reverse band.

      As I stated before. I’m one step from swinging in the trees... transmissions be tough. Also, was in a huge pinch. When I was done snow plowing for the year I rebuilt the entire transmission
