Every time I go to a flea market or yard sale I always keep an eye out for the original vise grips. I have the newer Irwin also but the originals are the ones I want
Those channel locks look pretty nice. I have a older pair of the Irwin vise grips that i have had for years, they are still working fine. I'll be on the look out for the channel locks, thanks for the video.
Jeff, first off the Old Craftsman USA locking pliers unlocked similarly ; saved many pinches with them! But more important, get yourself a pair of the Malco Eagle Grips while they are still around. They were made in the Original Nebraska factory, and are Amazing Quality. They have ceased production to my knowledge, as they were pricey, but the quality on the sets I have will stun you get a couple of sets before they disappear, Plenty of You Tube vides on them including a Projecy Farm one You will not regret shelling out the money for them
+1 on the quality. The eagle grips I have look like jewelry. Best chrome plating I have seen on a tool maybe ever, great welds & polish job. Just awesome. I guess snap-on has some needle-nose versions of the eagle grips on sale for now. Those would be awesome but they are like $85.
Those Channel locks are real nice looking! I just bought a set of the Milwaukee vise grips, and have been very happy with those. Oddly, they don't have a release mechanism, but still work great! Thanks for the review on those, Jeff. Much appreciated!
They remind me of the grip-on looking pliers I did a video on. Also made in Spain, I wonder if they are made in the same plant!! Nice review. I would not picking a set up.
yeah they definitely look like grip-on made pliers. Same epoxy coatings, fastening locations, lock/unlock mechanism, etc. I like my grip-on needle nose locking pliers I have. BEST locking pliers currently available new have to be the malco eagle grip locking pliers though. Its a shame they stopped production, but I have the curved jaw models and they are beautifully made & tested to outperform everything else in a project farm video.
They are the same pliers. PS, you can still buy USA made Malco Eagle grips, the company stopped producing them but they are still available because a lot of people don't know about them. They were originally 50 bucks each but if you look you can get them for 25 to 30. And they are far and away the best locking pliers ever made.
Still use my USA Vise grip I usually release them buy loosening up the screw with a small channel lock Just happy channel lock is making vise grips in the USA
I like the locking feature when I was doing fabrication everyday I used vise grips and when you release them you could get a finger smacked so the channel locks like a winner to me. Great video Jeff
So cool colors make a tool good, you probably prefer a ratcheting screw driver over a regular screw driver ,& prefer honey baked ham over smoked ham , fake macaroni and cheese over real macaroni and cheese, & honey mustard over normal mustard
I would guess those are a rebrand of the Grip On locking pliers. I believe that Snappy used to rebrand those also before they switched to Malco and now I don't know who.
Ive always loved Vise-Grips, but always hated that release system. I would venture to say that the Channellock ones are based of the British Mole Grip pliers with the design of that release. They have been around just about as long a the Vise-Grips.
Hey papa yes they will, you got some good things happening in your shop!! you helping out needy people is a very nice thing!! much respect my friend!! stay tuned!!
Yea rebranding is getting to be very popular!! i see it in alot of tools i did reviews on!! thanks for your input and for watching, stay tuned for more!!
Yea made in spain!! more and more tools just keep getting made over seas!! i love usa made channellocks as well! thanks jay for your thoughts, hope all is well!!
I was able to get a few sets before the factory closed. People really did some price gouging on them. Definitely have to shop around to get a good deal on them
Yeah, I had a few before they announced the closing. One actually bought 'pre=sale' before the official relese, lol a steal of a price and swag, lol gloves, hat, etc. When I heard they were closing I grabbed a bunch.@@Donniedangerously

They're not. Jeff said they're from Spain.
I like the locking feature when I was doing fabrication everyday I used vise grips and when you release them you could get a finger smacked so the channel locks like a winner to me. Great video Jeff

I just got a set of Milwaukee Max bite "vice grips" they're pretty nice
Yea i have had those in my hand, they are nice george,no doubt!!
I have MANY different types of locking pliers..
I picked up a set of Hart "autolock" and they're amazing..with the extended unlocking feature
I have seen those hart auto locks, they look pretty cool in video, I would like to get a set one of theses days.
I check the harts out, thanks for info!!
Channel Lock is in the house
Thanks my friend,i had a request for the new channel lock designed locking pliers,so here we are!!
Knipex had that quick release lever design way before those.
Yup,i showed them because there a new design with the expoxy resin coating ,just came out by channel lock!! thanks for your thoughts!!
Nice looking pliers.
Hi my friend these are decent design!! i do like the long release handle!! stay tuned!
I have a bunch of several styles of old school Vice Grips. All my deceased relatives tools get sent to me so i have tons of Everything.
Hang on to those older tools, those vise grips you have probably made in the usa!! thanks for sharing that with us!! stay tuned!!
I like that epoxy coating. Thanks for the great review.
Yea it would be kool if they came in several colors!! stay tuned!!
Jeff, have you tried Tekton locking pliers ? I have not but would like to try them. The Knipex locking looking plier are very nice, I have one pair.
No i havent tried tekton,i should do a series on locking pliers at some point!!
@@jefftovani5535 Do try the Knipex
Thank you Sir
Yes sir my friend,stay tuned!!
The Channel locks look exactly like the old Craftsman locking pliers.
Thats seems rite, thanks for joining in!!
I like the epoxy coating. Hopefully they'll offer it in a few colors ( channell lock blue). I've lost too many black tools on jobs
That would be kool to see different colors!!black is easy to loose in bad lighting, like you said!! stay tuned!!
So cool colors make a tool good, you probably prefer a ratcheting screw driver over a regular screw driver ,& prefer honey baked ham over smoked ham , fake macaroni and cheese over real macaroni and cheese, & honey mustard over normal mustard
Our company has lost many tools to blacks.
I would guess those are a rebrand of the Grip On locking pliers. I believe that Snappy used to rebrand those also before they switched to Malco and now I don't know who.
Thats a good question,im not sure who makes what these days with all the rebranding going on!!
Yeah you are correct. , snap on’s had Spain written on theirs just like the grip ons
Channel lock original plant is about 40 minutes north of me in Meadville Pennsylvania
Thats a fun fact!! would of been kool to see them being made!!
How about a comparison video Knipex twin grips vs Vampliers
Will do at some point, thanks for your suggestion!!
Ive always loved Vise-Grips, but always hated that release system. I would venture to say that the Channellock ones are based of the British Mole Grip pliers with the design of that release. They have been around just about as long a the Vise-Grips.
Yea im sure other brands have similar design!! beats not getting pinched that for sure!! thanks for your input!!
I have the Mole Grips. They have the best release of any locking pliers I have used.
It's not a new design. They are made by gripon in Spain. Snap on used to sell them until the Malcos came out. Great video though!!
thanks for the info!!
Them channel locks look as slick as snot on a door knob good review
They do. I'll grab a pair of the needle nose ones
@@marko11kram I think I might just do the same wise choice
Yeah, I did. click click, click---- "The Big A " is too easy lol @@Donthetoolman

i have an old set of usa craftsman vise grips- model 45964 (from the 70's) with the same lever. nothing new about the channelocks.
Thanks scott for the info and joining in!! stay tuned!!
A lot of adjustable wrenches and vice grips are made in Spain for a bunch of tool companies including Snap On.
Yea thats seems to be the case!! dont know much about spain factories!! should look them up!!
@@jefftovani5535 The OEM's are typically Grip-on or BAHCO, as far as I know it.

Malco still has some American made ones left. And they are superior. The factory ( vise grip factory) is closing.
They are a work of art for sure
