This is how we installed our drop lock vinyl plank floorboards. Vinyl flooring is perfect for a campervan due to its waterproofing, resilience, and ease of install. It's slightly more expensive than laminate flooring, but it's worth it since you'll never have to worry about your floorboards expanding and contracting, or becoming damaged from water.

In this video, we go through the steps and tools you need to install vinyl floors, (It's pretty simple). First, make sure you have a rubber mallet because anything else can damage your planks! Next, we use a ruler and Exacto knife to cut the planks to the proper size and just drop and hammer them in! The whole process can be done in a couple of hours and the hardest part will be the time it takes to work around your wheel well.
We've got a bunch more instructional and DIY videos coming your way from our 2018 Promaster including:

Awe that’s so great to hear!! Glad we could help 🥰🥰 good luck with your project!
Great job! Jennie you are great at explaining things🙌
Thank you! ❤️❤️ hope the video helped
Thanks for sharing! Does it just lays on the sub-floor without any glue?
No glue needed!
Rugby is the key
fresh floors!
Thanks girl ☺️
Looks great guys! I’m about to install a floating floor in my van as well and I’m wondering: did you guys run into any problems when framing? Does screwing into a floating floor cause any issues with bucking later on?
No issues at all!
Nice work 👍
Thank you 😊
@@jenniejameslooks great, still holding up? We are about to install our floating floor and worried about expanding and contracting.
did you spray insolate under the sub floor ? and how did you secure the sub floor and what thickness of ply wood? thank you.
No we did rigid foam board and 3/8 ply on top. We have a shorts video on our profile on how to do it!
What is your reasoning behind the floating floor? You didn't attach it to the subfloor?
Nope, you don't need to glue this type of vinyl plank down. It all stays locked together, so all you need to do is trim the edges and you're good!
Isn't it strange that the manufacturer is calling it vinyl when it's Hybrid flooring, it's heavier and less hardy though. I have spoken to a flooring expert and Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring you must glue down and it's lighter and harder wearing and highly recommend as better than Hybrid, especially beneficial for homes on wheels.
There’s a bit of mixed info on this online. Both are still vinyl, but luxury is typically thicker and heavier from what I’ve seen. 🙂
@@jenniejames other way around, that's why it's recommended to go LVP, it's thinner, lighter, flexible and lasts longer, also better acoustics and more comfortable as it has less layers so less stiff etc., talk it over with a flooring expert they'll tell you the same thing as what I am, probably the reason most go for the style you did is because the glue is too messy for them.
