    The decrease in speed causes the image to form at a point closer to the surface of separation of the two media.
    The illustration of bending shows the decrease in speed, even at the normal.

    Sir I have a question we know that speed of light in vacuum is 3 lakh km per second but as it enters a glass its speed decreases but as soon as it return to vacuum it regain its speed and what is the reason for it and what is the energy that help in regaining its speed.

    • @weird0wizard22
      @weird0wizard22 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yashasvi Kumar That's just so simple...Higher the refractive index is lower the speed of light will be. As refractive index of glass is greater as compared to that of refractive index of air or vaccum,therefore, light travels faster in vaccum while in the glass it travels with comparatively slow speed.
      #Hope it helps!☺

      @@weird0wizard22 sir I also know that .You didn't understood my question.i asked how does it regain it's speed after coming out from light.as we know to regain speed we need energy so what energy is helping it in regaining it's speed.

      It is a very typically questions it violets the newtonion mechanics after passing glass light gain its speed so there is a acceleration but there is no force.but it is unknown force.science does not say something now but in future we can define it.

    • @Extraordinary10s
      @Extraordinary10s 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      Yashasvi Kumar Okay. I once too had that question lingering in my head for a while. It turns out that when light enters a medium, such as a glass, there are many particles. Now, it’s not like when light enters through a medium, the light’s speed slows down; it’s just that when light enters a medium, due to obstruction by particles, the light cannot travel in a straight line, so it takes a longer path, that is it takes many paths to reach a position. That’s why it appears as if light slowed down when it actually didn’t.
      Take your example itself, you travel at 5m/s. Now there’s a track, a straight one. It is 10m. Now, when you run, you would finish it in 2 seconds. Now, let there be a maze. You still travel 5m/s. Now, you start running but there are a lot of obstructions, but at the end, you finish the race. Now remove the maze, you find out your displacement is 10m but you took many paths ( let’s say you totally took 30m) so you didn’t take the 2 secs to reach there rather you took 30s . In both the cases, you still travel 5m/s but your apparent speed at 1st case is 5m/s and 2nd case, it’s 1m/s (ie 30m/30s).
      That’s exactly what’s happening to light when it travels in a medium.
      When light comes out of the medium, it again travels in straight line as there are no obstacles.

      Aakash mondal Due to the change in the refractive index of the medium. Refractive index is in inverse relation with velocity. Higher the refractive index is lower the speed of light will be☺

    • @ullianove151
      @ullianove151 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Refractive index depends on the arrangement of molecules in the medium.....I think...may be that's why refractive index changes when a medium is heated..so by saying refractive index we are saying about the arrangement of molecules..when light passes through a medium , the light is actually suffering reflection , millions and millions of times .. maybe this subsequent reflections are delaying its speed in a given medium( here each molecule act as a tiny mirror.) MAYBE..

      thats because ncert does use the definition of snell's law very liberaly however the thing is the formulation of snell's is based upon fermat's principle that mainly states that light chooses the optimum path for travelling in a medium. here optimum may mean maximum, minimum or point of inflection and is thus open to different uses in different cases

    • @ankitabhaumik8611

      V2 or any other velocity can only be 0 when the object is not moving. Here, the light rays are moving. Hence, no matter how less their speed is, it cannot be 0. And in the equation, v2 or v1 is never 0, but the product of v2 and sini or the product of v1 and sinr is.
