    1. It will bend away from the normal; most probably towards the right and the angle of refraction would be larger than the angle of incidence. Also, the speed increases as the density of the material decreases.
    2. Refraction takes place because of the change in the speed of light. This happens if a medium is either denser or less dense than the other.
    3. Yes. The pool appears shallower because of the bending of light or the refraction of light.

    Q1.
Ans.When the light travels from the denser medium to the rarer medium, the light rays travel away from the medium. Thus, the angle of incidence < angle of refraction.
    Q2.
    Ans.The cause of refraction of light is;
    Change in medium.
And change in speed of light.
    Q3.
Ans.Yes,the pool appears to be shallow when viewed normally because
    of refraction.

    1) When light travels from water to air, it bends away form the normal
2)The cause of refraction is the change in velocity of light when traveling from one media to another as the optical density differs.
    3) The pool appears to be shallow as light is traveling from air(an optically rarer medium) to water (an optically denser medium)

Answers for the questions asked in the video,
A.1) When light travels from water (optically denser medium) to air (optically rarer medium), it's speed increases which is why it tends to move away from the normal. Here, Angle of incidence < Angle of Refraction
A.2) Refraction of light occurs when the light ray travels from one medium to another medium. The reason behind this is because the speed of the light changes while doing so. For eg, when light travels from air to glass, it's speed decreases which is why it refracts from it's original path. Whereas when light travels from glass to air, it's speed increases which is why it bends away.
A.3) Yes, a pool appears to be shallow when viewed normally as the refraction of light comes into play.
First time seeing your video and I absolutely liked it 📝👍🏻

Q1 It goes to the incidence ray (which means go down) if theres a situation that the ray is reflecting flat like absolutely then it wont change the direction it will be the same)
Q2 Well, depends on the density, if the density or medium is strong then it can refracts
Q3 Because our eyes are not that wonderful, we will see them as its not that far when touching the swimming pool but in reality its tall, the eye just got tricked by the refraction of the light to the pool.

    1) When light travels from water to air it bends away from the normal as water is optically more denser then air. So the speed of light increases from water to air.
    2) Refraction of light takes place due to the change in the speed of light as it passes from one transparent medium to another obliquely.
    3) No, a pool does not appear to be shallow when viewed normally. This is because :
    # no refraction takes place when light is incident normally.

    2nd answer
When the waves encounter a surface or other boundary that does not absorb the energy of the radiation and bounces the waves away from the surface.
    3rd answer
Refraction of light as the surface of water makes swimming pool appear shallower then its actual depth when viewed from directly above.

    1)Away from the normal
2). The speed of light changes when it passes through different mediums . And according to the law of refraction light bends away from the normal when increased in speed and away from normal when slower
    3) Yes as the water in the pool is optically denser and thus leading to a decrease in the speed of the light which then ultimately leads to the bending of light towards the normal . But light reflected to our eyes is not bent thus we see a shallower pool .
    Am I correct ?

    2) Refraction happens due to change in speed of light as it passes through different mediums.

When light travels from water to air the light will bend away from the normal as water is a denser medium than air so as soon as the the light it reaches in the rarer medium it bends away from the normal
2- the cause of refraction of light is speed of the light as we know speed of light is different in different different mediums during which the different speed of light in different mediums result in the refraction of light.
3- yes the pool appears Shallow as we look from the above this is because of the refraction off the light
    All three ans
Let me know right or wrong???

A1.) When light travels from water to air it bends away from the normal (angle i is less than angle r )
A2.) The cause of refraction of light is the change of speed of light in different mediums.
A3.) Yes , the swimming pool appears to be shallower when viewed from the outside.

Ans. 1- It bends away from normal
Ans. 2- Cause of refraction of light is that the speed of light is different in different molecules.
Ans. 3- Yes pool appear to be shallow because of refraction of light

    Q3) yes.

  • @sweetyroy231
    @sweetyroy231 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

1.) Water is more denser than air, so when light travels from a denser medium to a rarer medium, it bends away from the normal. Hence, when light ray travels from water to air, it bends away from the normal.
2.) Change on speed causes change in the direction. This is refraction
3.) Yes the pool appears to be shallow when viewed normally.

Q1: When light travels from water to air, it bends away from the normal. This is because light speeds up when it enters a substance with a lower refractive index, such as water to air. This change in speed causes the light to change direction, resulting in the bending of the light rays. This phenomenon is known as refraction and is responsible for various optical effects, such as the apparent bending of a straw in a glass of water.
Q2: Refraction of light is caused by a change in the speed of light as it passes from one material to another. This change in speed is due to the change in the optical density of the materials, which causes the light to bend as it enters the new medium. The amount of bending that occurs depends on the difference in the refractive indices of the two materials. This phenomenon is responsible for a variety of optical effects, such as the bending of light in lenses, the formation of rainbows, and the mirages seen in deserts. Understanding the principles of refraction is crucial in fields such as optics, astronomy, and meteorology.
Q3: Yes, a pool appears shallower than it actually is when viewed from directly above. This is due to the refraction of light at the water's surface. When light passes from air into water, it slows down and changes direction, causing the pool to appear shallower than it really is when viewed from above.
So, I get that you had some confusion regarding refraction, but I really hope that the information I gave was helpful enough to answer your queries. ☺
