I don't think that stricter laws would solve the issue in most cases. There is already consumer laws that protect consumers from false or misleading in the most part that can let you get your money back and leave the game to die on its own. What we actually need is to stop pre-ordering games and to wait for reviews from the community rather than from the media and influencers who get paid to say nice things about a game. A lot of the games on this list made a decent size of the money it made from pre-orders which dried up at launch where the people who bought the game told everyone about how trash it was.
@@Algebruh2407preach brother. We gotta stop preordering. Even if the game is going to be good. You should not preorder!!! You’re giving people money for a product that isn’t DONE
@@Algebruh2407 yeah well folks keep per-ordering. Everyone says don't it makes the industry worse and years keep on ticking by and folks keep doing it, so this really isn't a realistic solution. Best thing i could think is make it illegal for the industry to do per-order sales all together.
@@------837I personally am against banning it because of the precedent that it would give and because taking it away is ultimately anti-consumer choice to do so. Companies would also move on to more loopholes or predatory ways of selling their games, like turning pre-orders into early releases where you can only play a demo until the game comes out or turning the game into a microtransaction. The best action to take is to tell people why they shouldn't pre-order games and let it run it's course. If the quality of the games being pre-ordered don't improve, then more and more people are going to get burned when they blew money on a bad game or feel let down when they have to refund it. When more and more people are being burnt, then there will be less pre-orders, leading game companies to be forced improve the quality to make the sales on release rather than throw a lot of the budget onto the marketing team to shove pre-orders down everyone's throats.
@@Algebruh2407 what precedent would it make? It’s a simple law about selling broken games to customers and running with the bag never fixing the game. Everything else you said was a complete ramble of made up rubbish.
A large part of my problem with Payday 3 was it’s lack of player creativity in making classes. Such a limited amount of guns and perks compared to payday 2. On top of the masks being just cut down to like what 15 styles. It felt like a beta. I think there was only one shotgun for your primary as well. Just very lacking in content
Payday 2 also had 10 years of post-launch support. In those 10 years they added a lot of content. However I agree with you in regards to the class making, a definite downgrade
The problem is that they're gonna milk all the content into 100s of dollars of DLC like they did with Payday 2. Payday officially died, and become a pay to play game.
"No one will disagree with you here" Nah I disagree about Forspoken. It's not possible for "no one" to disagree here. Except with Redfall and the Day Before. What on earth happened there.

Payday 3 player here, after the first patch (day one patch 1 month after launch) Overkill (publisher) quickly turned around and announced Murky Station and Cook Off one week after and made the leveling system better by making xp be gained by doing heists as well as challenges
Stop making excuses for starbreeze, everything except for the gun play was an after thought, and even then what did we even get like 10 guns? Pay day 2 had time but the game gave itself that time because, it launched with absurdly more content than pay day 3 did.
@@KingKari_ 20 guns, and while payday 3 has considerably less than 2, it still is a good game, it's got good mechanics, it's a diamond in the rough basically
@@KingKari_ The heist launch roster in Payday 2 was arguably worse than 3's bar a couple and launched with 12 heists in total. The majority of Payday 2's launch heists were awful. There was also a similar amount of guns between the two during their respective launches. Payday 3 launched with 8 heists and while there is little variety in objectives all 8 certainly have more depth than any of the launch heists in 2. There are other more important things to criticize about PD3, especially the qol missing from 2, but the amount of heists isn't a big issue.

The main bad game that made me laugh till my stomach hurts is the Walking Dead game. It’s those slideshow cutscenes that get me every time & how the characters DONT STOP TALKING! They keep on saying the same line every time they pick up an item Lol 😂
I felt like Forespoken is one of those games where a new mechanic was discovered, and Square wanted to try it out in a large setting. We may see the fluid parkour mechanic used in the game come back around somewhere else (hopefully) so they really just needed this game as a way to test it out and make sure it worked. I didn't hate the game, but it does get boring and repetitive after a while. But running around like a coked-up wizard is fun as hell.
combat and traversal was fun enough to keeo me going for hours but my god was the game so dead. I didnt hate the MC as much as alot of people did especailly those on the hate wagon so hard they'd defend 'cuff' but the negative and annoying traits of her character were only broadcasted with how empty the game world was.
I'd like to see a list of "meh" games. Games that were not objectively bad but not good either, disappointing games that might still be enjoyable but just didn't live up to their potential.
I loved Forspoken! It was much better most people perceive it to be. You just have to tweak a few controls in the settings and progress far enough to get multiple spell types and I swear it'll change your mind!!
@@BigMacWitCheez Forget the gameplay, I couldn't get past the opening few scenes. It's legitimately the worst writing I've ever seen in a big budget title.

0 bugs? Nah. Had a few but nothing gamebreaking. Tho it seems some of the newer ones made the game buggier than it was when it had a free weekend lol. Great game tho, also had a lot of fun.
Haven’t seen the list yet, hoping to see Gollum, King Kong, The Day Before, and Starfield. Edit: After viewing, I had forgotten about Redfall. Definitely deserved the spot over Starfield.
About COD: I heard half of the maps are copy pasted from Warzone, which made it impossible to code in friendly players. So they tell you in the briefing about team mates or whatever but then when the mission starts: ur solo.
One thing I've noticed about Call of Duty games is that the multiplayer is always the main focus, and the campaign is usually treated as an afterthought. Then when a zombie mode is included, like with Modern Warfare 3, the campaign really is an afterthought.
It could have been good though. They had a great thing going with MW2019, trying to install a bit of realism in an arcarde shooter with Clean House. Went away from it with the next one, but not terrible, then they just went full on with throwing any sense of realism out the window (I get it, it's COD not a combat simulator but still) with making it basically warzone. It's hard to suspend disbelief when you've got me stacking SAPI plates and finding killstreak boxes with UAVs and air strikes on standby. It makes no sense and really killed any karma they got back from the original MW reboot.
That's bc the multiplayer is the main focus of the consumer. If people wanted to play more single player, attention would be shifted appropriately to that
I just want something like SOCOM 3 for PS2 but on PS5 i tried cod and saw all that extra special shit and nuh uh, i wanna go fight in a desert and shit
They even managed to f*ck that up. The fact that I paid for MWII and now instead of updating fun mode like shipment under a global CoD banner...They create the exact same mode but only for those that own MWIII and just end up emptying out the lobbies of MWII shipment. Really pathetic if you ask me.
The thing I hate most about Crime Boss Rockay City is the name. It sounds like one of those GTA clones you might see on the apple or google play store.
It was pretty hilarious about games that were terrible but also had terrible replay value. It’s like that old joke about the restaurant where the food is horrible but worse the portions are too small😮
Forspoken is actually pretty good when you separate it into two games. The first being the origin story. The second is an adventure that searches for answers to why the blight exists and how to get rid of it. I played the story and then explored everything and it was very interesting after the story. There are even more story elements. The traversal gets awesome and some of the boss fights are epic around the map. The story is actually good. But most people don’t realize the main character considers suicide at the beginning. Her life sucks and she stands on a ledge thinking about jumping before she is swept away.
The suicidal approach was squandered along with the traversal aspect and the sheer amount of squandered dialogue, almost exactly like the way you squandered to present your statement.
@@Cal3000 it’s not thst simple. I think Forspoken is 'alright'. It's obviously not the best game out there and it does have some flaws, but I also think it's not as bad as most people say. I enjoyed it for the most part. The pricetag is a bit hefty though
I bought it for 40 and it was good. There have been games that are really bad. But yes I guess it gets shitted on so much cause many bought it at full price. And yes its not worth that.
I feel how Falcon feels about Forspoken especially her dialogue. I get she was supposed to be a street kid from New York dropped in this world, but I really wasn't feeling the way she responded to the world.
But it wasn't a terrible game either, far from it. It's a fresh idea that I'm sure they would have built upon it given the opportunity to make sequels. It very fun.
@@thesonofman777Its terrible because the protagonist is unbearable, if the character was mute, or the history was writing with less exposition. Maybe, but this way unbelivable bad. @@RoyMatzem Honestly whoever made the wrtiers change the story last minute needs out. Which was probably the director. Cuz ignoring the story the game is pretty solid and the story and writing isn't horrendous imo, it's just lacking and clearly needed more time.
I agree. I got it when it came out and want to get it again at some point on sale (I returned it cuz it wasn't worth full price). It's definitely not one of the worst games this year. The gameplay is pretty fun and the story is okay. I hope one day maybe they'll do a game that's what Forspoken was supposed to be (story got changed last minute which is why it's kinda lacking) but I don't regret playing it.
When Forspoken released i didn't really care about it but got it for 25 bucks, i was expecting it to be horrible since i saw everybody hate it i don't think it was as bad as people portrayed it 🤷♂️
The only disappointment with Payday 3 was the launch and maybe a 2 months period of silence from the devs after that. Now it is pretty much fixed and back on track. They fixed a lot of bugs and added 3 maps plus cosmetics. I absolutely don’t think it should be num.1 in this list while the day before is like 9 or something.
I think the list is ranked on disappointment based on how hyped it was before launch. We all knew Kong and day before were going to disappoint but having MW3 or payday up there is because people expected more but didn’t get it
I agree, people expect so much from a indy title but they forget it's not a AAA developer like infinity ward (and that they paid half the price of a AAA game)
Wanted: Dead is one of my favorite games of the year. Yeah it's weird but in a good way and sometimes unbalanced in it's difficulty. It's also gory fast paced fun and different from a lot of the samey stuff we get every year.
There ought to be a "Raspberry award" equivalent for gaming like there is for movies. This year had quite a few GOTY contenders and equally RAZZIE ones as well. (Though the blame can mostly be attributed by corporate shareholder greed)
I sort of agree, but it’s also apparent that with bad games, it’s usually only a few people making it bad (like the shareholders) whereas the rest of the developers have to helplessly watch as they’re forced to code a game that they hate and can tell will be hated.
indie devs with a good idea and a tiny budget can make games much more deserving of the goty title than any AAA product, like minecraft (before ms bought mojang) or factorio, but at the same time, if indie games were eligible for the razzies, the AAA studios could always find a game just as bad as theirs, but with a much lower budget (and therefore additional problems). it's not that i don't like the idea, but i think it'd devolve into one part of the industry bashing the other, with very little value.
I think people are too hard on Fospoken. I feel like it's biggest problem is that it takes too long until you get all the fun stuff, like cool parcours moves and magic sets. It's missing some "love" in development. It feels like it was made by people who do their job because they get paid for it, not to make something they're passionate about. It's not worth 80 bucks - but it's not all bad.
Wanted :Dead gives me exact same feeling when i played Wet on PS3. Same type of vibe. ( Wet clearly has better voice acting), but i found that i didnt mind the tanky controls or the repetitive nature of slow- mo gun fights.
I played Payday 3 recently with friends and It was awesome. I guess It depends on whether you just burn through the game or tries to complete each heist in the ways the game offer you, including the achievements exclusive to each mission. Finishing the last heist without killing anyone in overkill was stressing sure, but satisfying when we actually managed to pull it off.
@@northdkt7088It's not a top 10 list, just a list of games. They just are dumb for using the top ten number system for every video, even non top tens.
Forespoken isn't that bad people. This year had way more bad game than this. The only problem I'm having with Forespoken is the pacing of the dialogue, like as soon as one passion starts the final word the other voice line will start. It's like rapid fire dialogue. Other than that, I've probably put over 40 hours into it, the combat is fun, the parkour is fun. I can never really take people's opinions seriously, it's always hating on something good, or loving something sub par People really need to play this game instead of just listening to others say it's bad, because it's great, it's number three on my top ten of this year, right next to Atomic Heart and BG3
I would love Wanted Dead to be included on PS+ as a free monthly or added to the collection. That's the only way I'd play it. But, make no mistake *I would absolutely play it!*
IDK Falcon, I feel like Payday 3 should not have been number 1. How are you going to start off with Skull Island and The Day Before and end with Payday 3? At least Payday 3 was a full game that you could play through and have a decent time, you can't even buy The Day Before now. Also, the MW3 campaign sucked, but it still felt better than Redfall, Kong, TDB, Walking dead, etc.
Playing forspoken now, it's actually good. the only problem is, it is outdated with its open world design. magic Combat and open world exploration (Parkouring etc) forspoken is one of the best this year.

Space engineers and baldurs gate 3. Space engineers deserves to be recognized because its a great game thats been around since 2014 that can give minecraft and even starfield a run for its money. And baldurs gate has so many dumb little knacks its basically sims and wartales rolled into one. Its nice and to grow up around everything except dungeons and dragons and to want to break into that realm of tabletop games baldurs gate really gives you that feel of a looking dungeon master and larian really wanting you to be able to do whatever.
When I tried the beta for Payday 3 (on PC) the menuing felt very much designed for navigating on a controller and it did not lend itself to a positive experience on PC in that regard either. I'm unsure if this has seen any changes since releasing...
About the MW3 campaign It was bad because it was NOT linear, not the other way around. The open combat missions were a disarter combined with bad AI. I guess the "linear" aspect that you said was more like: they want you to do the same thing from start to finish and that's it.
I played about 10 or so hours of Forspoken and whilst the combat and traversal are quite fun and unique, everything else just falls flat. It’s hard to keep engaged when the open world is empty and the main character is about as multi-dimensional as a stale old piece of toast. It’s ironic cause the marketing campaign promised a huge ‘fish out of water’ type scenario with a pivotal transformation for Frey and yet it’s like the writers refused to let any kind of character development creep in 😭😭
Forspoken I enjoyed the combat and story was decent, it had flaws & could of been better but for me it doesn't make the top 10 in 2023 Quantum Error & Flashback 2 are far more worthy, although it is easy to miss some of these games in a whole year Square Enix also massively improved performance issues and other problems

Just to correct Falcon about the money situation regarding "The Day Before" there's a high probability that from the Steam side of the sales that the studio never saw a cent because Valve has a policy in place on Steam where payment is withheld until the following month and because the "studio" closed within a week of launch, yeah, they aren't seeing squat of that money.

The fact that this continues to get worse and worse every year shows that we need stricter laws for false advertising in video games

Payday 3 launched with 8 heists and while there is little variety in objectives all 8 certainly have more depth than any of the launch heists in 2. There are other more important things to criticize about PD3, especially the qol missing from 2, but the amount of heists isn't a big issue.

I think the magic combat is really fun and there are creative ways you can defeat enemies
combat and traversal was fun enough to keeo me going for hours but my god was the game so dead. I didnt hate the MC as much as alot of people did especailly those on the hate wagon so hard they'd defend 'cuff' but the negative and annoying traits of her character were only broadcasted with how empty the game world was.
The world traversal alone, and how well it flows as you unlock the new parkour moves, is enough to keep it off lists like these.
Everyone who has actually played Forspoken uses the word “fun” to describe it.
Everyone who hasn’t uses the word “cringe”.
I find the gameplay appealing. But the main character feels annoying and not charismatic at all, and they did dirty the person they used to model her.
I'd like to see a list of "meh" games. Games that were not objectively bad but not good either, disappointing games that might still be enjoyable but just didn't live up to their potential.

If people wanted to play more single player, attention would be shifted appropriately to that
It wasn't always that way
I just want something like SOCOM 3 for PS2 but on PS5 i tried cod and saw all that extra special shit and nuh uh, i wanna go fight in a desert and shit

"Payday could, someday, be good. It's just not today."
Also
"I haven't played the game recently. "
You forgot to include the rpgmaker game I made featuring an eggplant that tried to poison people.
FFXV was also considered not all bad. Honestly i understand why SE shuttered Luminous Productions.
Wanted :Dead gives me exact same feeling when i played Wet on PS3. Same type of vibe. ( Wet clearly has better voice acting), but i found that i didnt mind the tanky controls or the repetitive nature of slow- mo gun fights.
The story might not be the greatest, but the gameplay and traversal in Forspoken is actually really good.
I actually like the plot more than the gameplay especially the cuff dude
I played Payday 3 recently with friends and It was awesome. I guess It depends on whether you just burn through the game or tries to complete each heist in the ways the game offer you, including the achievements exclusive to each mission. Finishing the last heist without killing anyone in overkill was stressing sure, but satisfying when we actually managed to pull it off.
I feel like he gave up and hasn't tried it out since the server issues, otherwise no way it would be at number 1 on the list.
I can never really take people's opinions seriously, it's always hating on something good, or loving something sub par
People really need to play this game instead of just listening to others say it's bad, because it's great, it's number three on my top ten of this year, right next to Atomic Heart and BG3

About the MW3 campaign
It was bad because it was NOT linear, not the other way around. The open combat missions were a disarter combined with bad AI. I guess the "linear" aspect that you said was more like: they want you to do the same thing from start to finish and that's it.
I find it sadder that many developers lost their jobs this year or that many studios closed!

2023 being an overall bad year not just for gaming - Terrible year for gaming...Resident Evil 4 remake, Dead Space remake, LoZ:TotK, FF16, Spiderman 2, Street Fighter 6, Baldur's Gate 3, SMB: Wonder, Alan Wake II, Pikmin 4, Armoured Core 6, Hogwart's Legacy, CP2077 Phantom Liberty, Talos Principle 2, Remnant 2, Super Mario RPG, Viewfinder...all trash...not to mention all that garbage like Jedi Survivor, Diablo IV, AC Mirage and all those bad indie games nobody cares about...Dredge, Blasphemous 2, Sea of Stars, Dave the Diver, Tchia, Jusant, Cocoon
LITERALLY NOTHING WORTH PLAYING!!!! AT ALL!! WORST YEAR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Crazy how this year had so many bad games, but was still overall a great year for games
👍🏼
I can’t really think of any great games that released this year
@@lylahsworld3930Battlebit and Six Days in Fallujah are two I had a ton of fun with. There's also Baldur's Gate 3, Spider Man 2, Atomic Heart, Alan Wake 2, the new Zelda, etc. I mainly play indie games on PC and there were a ton more solid obscure releases
i actually really enjoyed Forspoken. it was just way to expensive for what it was and could do. especially the dlc
Interesting info i hope is true: steam seems to pay developers at the end of the month. sooooo it might be hard to take the money and run if steam doesnt give you the money until the end of the month and it already got removed from sale before that. steam prob kept the money and just refunded everyone.
I actually liked the cod campaign. I liked the open DMZ style missions. Better than just going to a dot, end the enemy then go to the next dot.
See and I dreaded those missions, I feel it pulled me out of the story. Just as he mentions in the video, you never knew how you were supposed to play the mission, I do understand they wanted to give you choice though, which is cool but for someone like me who’s never played DMZ, only multiplayer and the campaigns, it felt a bit forced. To each their own!
Im actually really enjoying wanted dead.
