    Rob falls in love with David because Adele is so happy with him, Rob says multiple times that he doesn’t want to go back to his life, he becomes obsessed with Adele life and the idea that David will love him as well, Rob was also obsessed with David, he mentions he’s jealous of David and Adele, you also missed the supernatural elements from the Beginning Rob/Adele was visibly watching them and the viewer could see that there was something supernatural

    I think you might’ve missed a lot of key things, no offense.
    SPOILERS:
    The whole astral projection concept was there from the beginning. It didn’t just appear in Episode 5 out of nowhere. Adele taught Rob how to do it, then Adele showed Louise to have lucid dreams and eventually astral project by having her read Rob’s journal. That was the whole counting fingers and finding a door stuff. OG Adele was astral projecting the night her parents died and that’s why she didn’t wake up and blamed herself. The entire time, Adele was using astral projection to spy on David and Louise and that’s how she knew things she couldn’t have known otherwise. Hence all those shots of her in bed during the day and the overhead drone shots of D/L where the edges are blurred and tinted. It’s why David called her at home everyday. He couldn’t figure out how she knew things but it was meant to make us think he was controlling. But you didn’t really figure out that was what was she was doing until Episode 5. That was part of the mystery of the show. They led you to suspect David when it was Adele and then Rob the whole time. The whole time she was basically grooming Louise to take over her body like she did with og Adele.
    Also, OG Adele was in the institution for trauma after her parents’ death, not for drug addiction. The present day heroin use in retrospect should’ve been clues that it wasn’t the same Adele.

    Don’t really understand the comments saying Rob didn’t love David. It was obsession and possessiveness taken to the very extreme to me. ‘If I can’t have you, I’ll morph into the person who can’. Or the people, as it turned out.

    Rob wasn’t in love with David , he was in love with being Adele that’s the whole point , not just the fact he’s a man who likes other men making him already feel outcast but also the fact that his life was awful. Therefore he fell in love with being around Adele because the more he hears and sees the more he can imagine such a life , he then finds the perfect opportunity to take her life away from her and make it his own , a life where he can love a man and have money and wealth with no judgment from others whatsoever, that’s why Rob did what he did

      While I agree that he loved the idea of being in Adele's shoes, I still think that some degree of attraction, if not love, had to have been there for David. I can't think of any other reason they would've mentioned the fact that Rob was gay right from the first episode. It leaves things open for him to find a male suitor he fancies, pretty cut and dry.
      Also the fact that he did it again with Louise, who based on her circumstances I think was far from the ideal person to be compared to Adele.

    Rob wasn’t just in love with David, he wanted the life Adele had, a win win for him. When Rob entered Louises body, he had no trouble getting in the house cuz he knew where he hid the key. I had to watch that scene to see how the hell it was so easy.

  • @BlaineAuld

    Since everyone is bringing it up, I'll address one of my points from the video so others don't have to sift through my comments. Many are saying Rob wasn't in love with David, but I still think that some degree of attraction, if not love, had to have been there for him, even if it wasn't necessarily reciprocated. I can't think of any other reason they would've mentioned the fact that Rob was gay right from the first episode. It leaves things open for him to find a male suitor he fancies, so it's pretty cut and dry. Also the fact that he did it again with Louise, and based on her circumstances I think she was far from the ideal person to be 'in possession' of, compared to Adele.
    Thanks for all the comments everyone; this is the most commented video on my channel and I'm enjoying the discussion! 😄

      I agree with you but I also think that David had all the money because Adele transferred all the money to David’s accounts so it’s a combination of the love rob always wanted and the money that David has now.

    The show has made me want to read the book. But I fear the book will disappoint in the same way that "YOU" did. The TV series was way better than the source material. But I'll give it a try anyway. I truly enjoyed this series. Louise was not only interesting and sympathetic but she was also a well developed character. If anyone was boring and flat it was definitely David. He should have done more but he was just this puppet the whole time. I get that this was a woman lead series (Louise) but he could have been more dynamic. The way we interpretted Adele and Louise is totally opposite, like the deadness in Adele's eyes crushed my soul. Meanwhile, Louise had life in her eyes. She really drew me in. Thanks for your review. Loved this show.

    • @BlaineAuld
      @BlaineAuld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Adele's dead eyes make sense because she is/was an addict, and is shown injecting heroin into her system on more than one occasion, so it makes sense why she might space out. I can only imagine how depressed she was when her parents died. But I agree, out of the two, Louise was definitely more interesting than David. At least she had friends and attempted to spice up her personal life here and there.

      @@BlaineAuld Remember these are 2 different Adeles; the junkie one is Rob inside Adele and it was the original Adele’s parents who died. Also despite her parents death, original Adele was quite happy and upbeat.
      I think Rob chose to enter Louise despite her not being ideal because everything had broken down with Adele’s life with David and the unravelling of the Rob murder etc and he had get out ASAP and she was the best option.
      The worst thing for me though was Adele/Rob predicting Louise would astral project into the house to try and somehow save her.
      Thanks for the review

    It was definitely love at first sight for Rob remember he told Adele I understand why you love Rob he is perfect. He was attracted to that unconditional love David gave to Adele something he didn’t have growing up also David got all the money from Adele too so if rob sticks with David he will still be rich

  • @PiscesPlz
    @PiscesPlz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Honestly, you're giving rob too much credit as a decent human. Rob was never in it for the love, it was the money. That's why he was so offended when Adele signed over everything to her husband. Yeah Rob liked him, but it mostly because at that point he had all the money and ability to take care of him. That's also why he told Adele basically he'd kill to have her life. I'd suggest a rewatch, there's a lot of things you pick up on after knowing the ended, at least that's how me and all my friends felt. We all loved it.

    • @BlaineAuld
      @BlaineAuld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would rewatch it if I had 6 more free hours of time, but sadly it's not the case. If it came across that I felt Rob was decent, it wasn't my intention. I think he had a great backstory and I can sympathize with him for his upbringing, but not for his actions in the story. Also I think he wrote in his diary that he didn't like David at first, or maybe I'm misremembering. There's so many details that are easily missed 😅

    THANK YOU for mentioning that it makes no sense for Rob to think he could just copy paste Adele's experience in Louise's body. Also, he was definitely motivated by money, not love. It doesn't make sense for him to take over the body of a single (unemployed) mom. I get that getting with and marrying David gives her more financial security buy she has nothing to hang over David's head to force him to stay.

    • @BlaineAuld
      @BlaineAuld  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting POV, I didn't think of that before. I think love did play a part in it though, considering he is gay and knows that David isn't, so I think there'd have to be some degree of attraction he had for him, even if it wouldn't necessarily be reciprocated.

    Just about opening the door, Louise (adele (rob)) got a spare key from some electric box to open the door.
    The thing I don't understand is - what Louise wanted to do - like what was the plan of going inside the house? how did she suppose to save her? And if there is no point, from where Adele (Rob) would know that she will do something that stupid and not having any sense

    • @BlaineAuld
      @BlaineAuld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahh shoot, I figured I was missing something about the door!
      Yes Louise was weird in that scene. I don't know why writers make characters take matters into their own hands for no reason so much. 😅

    Excellent review! Thank you so much for sharing this. However, one thing I keep wondering about is why Adele (with Rob’s soul inside her) was so cold, reserved, and poised throughout the whole show. When we look back at the original Rob and his individual personality, he seemed much more lively, daring, rough, humorous, outgoing, and risky etc (in comparison to the ADELE that we see in the present throughout the majority of the show). When Rob switched souls with Adele, and then he killed his old body and Adele’s personality, did his own/original personality change or something? Because his personality within Adele’s body does not seem to be the same as it was in his own body. Hope that makes sense...? Would really like to hear your thoughts!

    • @BlaineAuld
      @BlaineAuld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think he was always a cold person from the outset. It's just when he met Adele, he finally found someone he could connect with after years of dealing with his ambivalent family, and was able to cut loose a bit as a result. I remember there were times when he insulted staff at the rehab centre, or when he was by himself in the show, monologuing to himself while writing in his diary, and his personality then seemed very similar to how he was when he eventually took over Adele's body. Just a very dark, troubled person overall, who became obsessed with the happiness he thought he could have if he led Adele's life. It's a shame that the story became too crazy for me to handle by the end though, as I thought Rob was a great character overall. Thanks for commenting!

    I didn’t think it was awful, but it wasn’t that great. A decent idea not quite pulled off. My only problem with the final - and it’s a big one - is that Rob’s whole plan seemed to hinge on Adele performing an obscenely unlikely sequence of events including astrally projecting herself at exactly the right moment and Rob stealing her body.

    Over the phone is not the way to ascertain domestic abuse. That psychiatrist should have known better. He should have ask her to come in and sit down and observe the clues

  • @carolharris2401
    @carolharris2401 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Lol when you are in a triangle with a psychiatrist and his wife it is never a love triangle . What it is, is a mind fck. The best part of the show was the twists at the end. But a twist cannot sell a show. A twist is suppose to be so good that it makes want to go back and watch to see if they are clues you missed. Think Sixth Sense. This show didn't make want to go back and see if I miss the clues but I'm willing to give it a B just because of that twist

    • @Robyn_Retro
      @Robyn_Retro 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      One of the clues were the colours of the souls. In the flashbacks Adele’s soul has a different colour than in the present. The second clue was that when David goes to meet Adele at the estate after what happened to Rob, Adele is standing behind the same wall Rob was almost hiding behind when he first saw David in the same meek way.

    Dont think Rob loved David. Rob was never happy and was jealous of Adele who to him had everything. He thought being her would mean he would be happy. He also enjoyed the perk of being rich as Adele. Also I dont think Adele was in the psych hospital for drug use but maybe emotional issues surrounding her parents death since she kept saying she wishes she was not travelling at the time of the fire. We never saw her use drugs until Rob stole her body.
    Unrealistic to me was this. Louise loved David and finally found out his wife was the crazy liar. Why would you try to save her. Why was she at the house to even know it was on fire smh. I would have started to mind my business when I saw the fire

    The others actors are not fleshed out because the series is about rob.
    The other three actors just push the plot along.
    Hope there is a season 2, it's obvious that David isn't attracted to robs personality in a romantic way, I would like to see that played out in season 2, I would also like to see Adam continue to question the changes and emotionally discount that he can see in rob aka Louise aka his mom
