- After many months of hard work, we are happy to announce that the Oceanview Motel has officially been saved!
Madison Resorts has purchased the property and will be turning it into the Madison Resort Wildwood Crest.
This building will go through a 12 million renovation and a 5th floor will be added.
The building will be open by Memorial Day (Phase 1).
The next phases will be done by 2024.
Let's walk the property and talk about the new project.

Those renderings of the new build look like something straight out of the 50's, they even threw in a Belair convertible for good measure lol. It's really awesome that people like you are trying to preserve the history of the city and things like this make a huge impact on the overall feel of the town. Its nice that I can go with my kids and show them a little bit of what it felt like when my grandparents and parents stayed there over the years.

What is the new name of the Motel. I cannot find a website and it's spring 2024 now.

I would be willing to bet there is no way they finish construction by Memorial Day and there is no way they do all those upgrades for 12 million dollars.
Joey you always do a great job. @@28mark i know that why i am glad i will have other places to stay when i return after a 4 year absents it is sad it was the best location in north wildwood years ago when the owners had praise in the upkeep before it when downhill fast no pride.

I’ve always said, it is a mistake to replace the old Doo-Wop motels with condos.
I realize that some of them may be too far gone to save, but new builds should reflect the old style motels to keep the vibe of Wildwood going!
If they replace all the old motels with cookie cutter condos, Wildwood will lose a lot of its charm.
Sorry to say, but, there are much better beaches around for people to go to. And if Wildwood ends up looking like every other beach town, well, people are going to go to the better beaches!
One of the things we always did on Wildwood vacations was to drive around at night and look at the motels, with their quirky themes and plastic palm trees! That was the most fun!

The Oceanview Motel is a place of power with multidimensional doors, one of which leads to The Oldest House.
Can't wait hopefully get to stay there if we get reservations before its booked up

Hi guys , last time I stayed in the motel there was a janitor , and he didn't stop saying something along the line "Perkele , Perkele , I need an assistant , this house has a vermin problem" , and he was babbling about it messing with the cooling pumps and generators and that someone should deal with it before he can go to vacation.

The leveling and pitch of the roof really enhances the lines of the building improving over the original roofline which was too FLW. I am always skeptical of adding additional stories to a building which it's architectural principle is based on a horizontal line, however the pitch of the new roof following the horizontality of the composition diminishes the effect of the added height of the building, maintaining it's horizontal language.

Joey, thanks for the update! Keep us posted. If anything the modified roof looks more 50s and glamorous than the original. Now for the updates on what Icona is up to with the Ocean Holiday site (no action for months), which may be their 'bridge too far'. And according to the Herald, their public hearing in Cape May for the former movie theatre site did not go well. To my eyes, way too large for the historic district.

I have been enjoying Mack's pizza ever since there's been a Mack's pizza. It's my number one pizza in Wildwood followed by a close 2nd for Sam's. Last week when I visited Wildwood for a couple days I enjoyed some Mack's pizza from both locations. It seemed to me that the taste changed and the only thing I could think of was the cheese was changed. I ask at both locations but being seasonal help they did not know.
Can you check out the situation and let me know what's going on?

Joey, that building was not saved the person who bought it decided to keep it a hotel if they wanted to build condos they would’ve done that.
