Thanks, former Philly guy. Wildwood Crest was our family summer vacation spot. Since you asked: A hotel is usually a large, enclosed building with hundreds of rooms across multiple floors, while a motel has one or two floors with outdoor room entrances

Examples of hotels in Wildwood would be the Bolero and Montego Bay in North Wildwood on the boardwalk. Adventurer Motor Inn at the south end of the boardwalk where the Crest begins has interior corridors as well. We stayed at Adventurer Inn in June 1996 and Montego Bay July 6-9, 2011. We stayed at Sea Bird in Aug 1982 and Tide Winds in Aug 1983. Royal Court in Aug 1995 and Riviera in June 1998.

I was sick to my stomach when I saw on a now defunct Wildwood boardwalk fan site around Jan 16 or 17, 2002 that it burned down on Jan 16, 2002. I went through it Aug 1995, June 1996 and June 1998 and the Dungeon boat ride June 1996 and June 1998. I was aware of it somewhat in Aug 1982 and Aug 1983 but we didn't go near it. I miss Hunt's Pier as well which was Dinosaur Beach 1996-1998. The track from the Golden Nugget is at Knoebel's in their Black Diamond ride which is like a reborn Nugget but with a haunted coal mine theme. Over 100 motels and a few restaurants were razed for condos 2002 and up. But, there are a bunch of surviving motels especially along the beach in the Crest and some in North Wildwood.

Actually in the Wildwoods, their working definition is a motel like the Crusader has outside entrance to rooms. Hotels like the Adventurer has inside entrance to rooms.

I heard the PA accent and mediately. When you think about Martin Luther King and the motel, remember something. These places were not always the Havens for junkies and hookers they have become. This is where families stayed originally, traveling salesman and other businessman, when the car became popular, people stayed at motels and motor inns. We didn’t have 20 story Sheratons and 40 story Marriotts. All we had were motels and everyone stayed there.
It’s weird middle-class America state. You did have some bigger hotels, but they were confined usually two resorts are big cities. Those dives up and down the route one Corredor with normal stopping points on people traveling cross-country or cross state.

Used to spend Memorial Day weekends down in Wildwood Crest and drive down to Wildwood for the clubs. I remember the flyers at gas stations of the women that used to disappear down there. Not a place to walk around drunk at night, too many weirdos from Philly. The Stardust was one of the few clubs that had underage nights. Wildwood and the Crest are cemeteries in the off-season.

We always stayed in the satellite motel in the 70's which is long gone now. It was on the opposite side of the parklane motel which just closed itself a few years ago. Great memories! Hello Cappy ,
Great long video of the "wildwoods " yeah in the 50's Bobby Rydell had a chart stopper for sure! Bigwigs loved wildwood and still come down there to this day!! Even Disney loved it but wanted better I think he had taken things to Disney world and land for that matter from the wildwoods! Keep going there and maybe the other beach that is voted the best beach in NJ for 2024.(Cape May) My buddy past in 08 from ALS (Eric) his family spread his ashes on the jeddys at Carneys bar..( across from the beach)❤. Only the Good die young !! As Billy Joel song it..😊 you captured not only a place to video that speaks mounds but to all that can't get there anymore. 😢 weather by not having the funds or just old age or that only can see by a computer, tablet or phone 😊 you will get alot more subscribers And views for sure. Take care and thank you for making it possible for the many people that can't go but enjoy this and many other places you visit. God bless !!

Motel is a contraction of motor hotel. Became popular when cars became popular. People could drive to the motel, park their car relatively close to their room, and not have to walk through the lobby to get to their room. It was more convenient for families.

Oh, and why does Morey own every damn pier? And where are all the spinning wheel games like Lou's gift wheel? I can play the damn claw games at Walmart!!!!! I want spinning wheel games! Win some cigarettes on the cigarette wheel. Seems they gotta just eff everything up that was actually fun. Wa-wa-watch the damn car please watch the damn car please.
