    Great video, Brian, just 15 years too late for me! I got schooled by a mini with COP the first time I found stuck boots. It highlights a general recurring theme, that you may THINK you already know how to do a task. Until you gain the skill and tools to cope with problems, you really don't.

    Thanks for the tip on the silicone spray for the melted boots. Just changed out my plugs and wires on my GMC truck and all the boots were stuck but they finally released with the needle nose method. Dielectric grease is a must on all the connection like this plus the light bulb sockets.

    Hey Brian, Not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but when the same thing happened on my 01 Ford F150, it happened to be on the 8th hole under the cowl and had very little room. What ended up working for me, was I got a piece of copper pipe (any material should work) that fit over the porcelain of the spark plug, then cut it to short piece that fit down into the hole, I had to slip the pipe over the plug, and it goes down in between the plug and the boot and separates them, then I just twisted it a bit and pulled it out and the boot came with it. Thats the only thing that I was able to get to work, but it worked well :D

      @briansmobile1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! That was less than 1/3rd of it too. It reached over 8 miles from where the funeral was to how far it got as the last car pulled out. Plus there were 4 city buses packed with officers who flew in for the funeral. Absolutely unreal. It's a tough and often thankless job. And it's also an incredibly tight knit family/profession. Just like once you're a waiter- you leave better tips. When you understand what someone else is going through it's easier to have compassion for them.

    Haha. I've worked on many DSMs and *never* seen plugs do this. But usually plugs get changed every 6 months. BTW, NGK plug wires work great on DSMs. Also the most stock looking Eclipse I've seen in a long time.

      @briansmobile1  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's been a garage queen.
      The t-stat failed and it was driven till the wires shorted to the plug well and stopped the engine.
      It stumbled onto it's face at 3K rpms after they re solidified. No CEL ever came on either. I was reading the MAF, checking the blow off valve, and went to check plugs and they
      were a hot mess so i started there. Worked. You might believe this thing bucked like a broken washing machine with a bad front motor mount too!

    My car (2015 VW Golf) has been running fine, but 1st plug change is supposed to be at 60K miles, and I just hit 60k. Warmed the car up fully, because some said that would make it easier. Have been working at it over two hours and can't remove ANY of the coil packs..I've pulled hard enough to stretch one of the boots to 1/2 it's diameter., and if wouldn't release. Would spraying silicone between the rubber boot and soak plug well help release it? Is the silicone going to foul the catalytic?

    • @briansmobile1
