I would just like to say thank you MetalJesus, and to all your friends, for showing us your favorite games, and showcasing the ones you feel, dont get the attention they deserve. As someone who is starting to collect, the biggest trouble is knowing what games are out there. Your videos have helped me a lot, and have really opened my eyes to what is out there. Would love to see more on collecting vinyl, like some of your favorites, or rarest ones you own. Collecting vinyl is just as fun as collecting video games! Your one of the few I have seen who does both also. Thank you again for all your hard work!
Really excellent list. This man got taste. Some of my favorites: Super Fantasy Zone, Monster World 4, Golden Axe 3, Shining Force 2, Thunder Force 4, Bare Knuckle 3, Castle of Illusion, Revenge of Shinobi
If a game gets too high in price I just go the emulation route to play it..if I really like it I might eventually buy it! I know a lot of people frown upon emulation, but it can be really handy for letting you make up your mind whether to spend loads of cash on a game or not..
I think repro carts are a nice way to have an authentic experience of a game that was never released in your region and a nice addition to a collection. Provided whoever is selling them is marking them as reproduction and make clear they aren't the real deal then it's fine. I paid twice what bob hole's link is selling them for(was on ebay but i'm sure the same guy, maybe when he was making them as one-offs) and i had no problems with it. Although most UK PAL repros are games that simply aren't available in UK PAL rather than just being too expensive...
I think reproduction ones are good place holders if you have in plans someday to buy the original. But as someone already mentioned, reproduction ones also have updates that originals do not, so from perspective of gaming experience only, it's a better value. If possible, keep both copies.
@ blondeandy yeah this guy sells on ebay but the site has some nice tittles homebrews and japan only releases, they are expensive i guess but if you are willing to spend the money i think they are worth it,i never thought i would play secret of mana 2,i got a fire emblem game of the snes that was on ebay im just happy to play the games
As always, Reggie's taste in games is awesome. I absolutely love the Valis series, Bloodlines is one of my favorite Castlevania games, and I've been dying to play the Battle Mania games.
bl;oodlines is very meh compaired to rondo of blood on turbo graphics 16 but bloodlines is way better than butcherd port of rondo of blood aka dracula x aka vampires kiss on snes that port is like so shity but other than that good list and btw all barbie games suck ass lol
Favourite third party Genny/MD games (in no particular order): 1) Castlevania Bloodlines 2) Contra Hardcorps 3) Splatterhouse 2 4) Splatterhouse 3 5) Shadowrun 6) Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition (When played with Sega's official 6 button controller, I prefer this port to any of SF ports for the SNES since the button layout is as good as it gets on a gamepad) 7) Strider 8) Mickey Mania 9) Samurai Shodown 10) Ghouls 'N Ghosts
Excellent episode MJR and Reggie! I really liked the 10 games that Reggie picked. Gunstar Heroes, Landstalker, Earthworm Jim and Beyond Oasis are also some titles that are worth checking out. I had Valis II and III for my Turbo Grafx CD player. Valis IV is one that I am hoping to get soon.

I love when Reggie is participating. I enjoy his presence and you can feel he love game as much as MetalJesus and not just because of the retro gaming trend. That duo just work IMO. So keep them coming!

Loved the video, guys, you both Rock!! Thanks for sharing, keep up the good work!! Here's my top 10: 10-Urban Strike (My favourite of the saga). 9-Zero Tolerance (First Person Shooter... amazing game). 8-Contra:The Hard Corps (My Favourite Contra... after the First One). 7-Street Fighter 2 (Great version of this classic). 6-Robocop Vs. Terminator (Killer shooter, far better than the SNES version, in my opinion). 5-Castlevania Bloodlines (like Contra, my 2nd favourite Castlevania) 4-Vectorman (Great platformer, a graphic jewel for the system). 3-Golden Axe (One of the best beat'em ups, the Genesis version was exellent). 2-Jurassic Park: The Lost World (Emulating a 32-bit game style, superb game). 1-Mortal Kombat 2 (The reason why I bought a Genesis, outstanding version).
1. Castlevania Bloodlines 2. Wonder Boy in Monster World 3. NHL 94 4. Street Fighter II: Champion Edition 5. Gunstar Heroes 6. Streets of Rage 2 7. Golden Axe 8. Lost Vikings 9. Contra Hard Corps 10. Beyond Oasis Just a quick list based off of what I've played...
I love how every time I'm thinking of an old console and what games to get for it your videos always pop up and I go on a marathon of great information and nostalgia
Reggie might have the similar tastes here #1 Yu Yu Hakusho Makyō Tōitsusen #2 Gunstar Heroes #3 Langrisser 1,2 #4 Uncharted Waters 2 #5 Sonic 1,2,3 #6 Phantasy Star 4 #7 Shining in the Darkness (Shining Force?) 1,2 #8 Virtura racing #9 Slam dunk #10 Streets of Rage 1,2,3
Some of my favorites: Landstalker, Soleil, Gunstar Heroes, Beyond Oasis, the whole Shining series, Alex Kidd, the whole Monsterboy series, and my favorite game on the Mega Drive, of which I have so many great memories, Warsong.
My list: 1. Streets of Rage 2 2. The Story of Thor (Beyond Oasis) 3. Kid Chameleon 4. Sonic 1 and 2 5. Street Fighter 2 6. Another World 7. Flashback 8. Castlevania Bloodlines 9. Light Crusader 10. Wonder Boy in the Monster World

A few of my favourites that aren't exactly on the radar of most. Gynoug/Wings of Wor Rolo To The Rescue Gain Ground (SEGA loves this, it's on pretty much every Genesis/Mega Drive collection) Micro Machines 96 Haunting Starring Polterguy Dynamite Headdy Toejam And Earl 2: Panic On Funkatron Zero Wing (A really good schmup once past that ridiculous intro) Earthworm Jim 2 General Chaos Shadow Dancer: Secret Of Shinobi both Tiny Toon Adventures: Acme All Stars and Buster's Hidden Treasure
You guys gotta check out Adventures of Batman and Robin. It's a really cool Beat Em Up on the Genesis. It has two player mode where you can play as Batman or Robin unlike the SNES game where you could only play one player as Batman. Other good games are Kid Chameleon, Comix Zone, General Chaos, Beyond Oasis, Strider and Gargoyles.
Aside from the obvious Sonic titles, I was also a huge fan of Twin Cobra, Marble Madness, F-22 Interceptor, Starflight and Aladdin for the Sega Genesis. Once I get a Retron5, I'm planning on hunting down most if not all of these titles. :)
I SHOULD point out that Rocket Knight Adventures is a Genesis exclusive, while Sparkster was on the SNES and Genesis. Noticed that Reggie said he liked the SNES games of both (at least I think he said that), so I thought I'd clear that up. ^^"
Here is my Top: 1.Comix Zone 2.Shining Force 1 & 2 3.Light Crusader 4.LandStalker 5.Beyond Oasis 6.The Adventures of Batman & Robin 7.Shadow Run 8.Sub Terrania 9.Earthworm Jim 1 & 2 10.Gargoyles Unfortunately I didn't play Phantasy Star IV.
Oh, Folks! It's impossible to make Top 10. So here is another Top 10. I can't not to mention such gems as: 1.The Lion King 2.Aladdin 3.Toy Story 4.Mickey Mania 5.Flash Back 6.Another World 7.The Lost World: Jurassic Park 8.Scooby-Doo Mystery 9.Zero Tolerance 10.Ecco the Dolphin
X-men 2 : Clone Wars (The best x-men game of the 16 bit era) Mortal Kombat 2 (No need to explain) Robocop Vs Terminator (This best robocop game and one of the best side- scroller shooter) Road Rash 2 (No need to explain) Comix Zone (No need to explain) Virtual Bart (Many fun game types all in one package, a variety that will suit everyone) Radien Trad (This is the best of its genre, a popular SNES port, many other similar games try to copy this one) Haunting Starring Polterguy (There is no other game like this one and happens to be very fun) Rock n' Roll Racing (Awsome soundtrack, this game shows how racing games should be done on a 16 bit system, very fun) Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (an addictive variation of tetris, you will spend hours and hours on this game)
Great video, I added a few games to my wish list. A few I really liked that were not mentioned or shown: Warsong Thunderforce IV Gain Ground Dragon's Fury / Devil Crash MD
In no particular order; Landstalker Castlevania: Bloodlines Rocket Knight Adventures Dynamite Headdy Mega Turrican Contra: Hard Corps Pulseman Sonic the Hedgehog 2 M.U.S.H.A. Shining Force. Possibly Shinobi III in there somewhere. Honorable mentions are all Sega CD games because I wasn't sure if they counted; Soul Star Lords of Thunder Snatcher The Terminator Battlecorps Lunar: Silver Star Saga
Great list and very useful too as I've never heard about some of these games and will gladly check them out! I would also recommend (not in specific order): - Shining in the Darkness - Vectormen 2 - Comix Zone - Dune 2: The Battle for Arrakis - Zero Tolerance - Micromashines - Top Gear 2 - Syndicate (A truly awesome game) - Sid Meier's Pirates - Earthworm Jim and Earthworm Jim 2 All the best and keep up the good work :)!
MetalJesusRocks A local store has had a CIB copy for well over a year at 279CDN taxes included. I just bought a Genesis today and went in their to check their selection. They still had it, and it's not a bad price from what I can tell...I want it so much but can't justify the price tag when I'm just getting into Genesis
OF course the the most popular guest! He's humble, yet not afraid to speak his honest opinion! He keeps it real af. Props to Reggie and his channel! One of the best youtube gaming personalities
I remember my friend having a game for the megadrive that i dont know the name of but i always think about it I think is kind of like a diablo style game from the top and i think the enemies drop loot and stuff and its open world in a desert and you can control a vulture/eagle to scout out for you anyone any ideas? Peace!!
I'd quite like to see a genesis hidden gems video. Genesis has always been the one system I have trouble finding games I like on. I was always a Nintendo guy.
+Jonathan Sokolowski I'm a sega guy too, as a kid and now. I had multiple consoles growing up, but was always fond of Genesis. I personally think music sounds better on genesis compared to SNES.
@TXF depends on your preferences, if you're an arcade action guy the Gen has the very best from the era. Check Gamefaqs rankings.com and retro-sanctuary.com to find great games. You have the Treasure classics (Alien Soldier, Gunstar Heroes etc), the Thunderforce games and other excellent shmups like Fire Shark and Musha. Platformers like RIstar, Decap Attack and Dynamite Headdy. Adventure titles like Beyond Oasis and Monster World IV, contrary to bias mainstream news there's plenty to choose from.
TXF I grew up with a Sega Master System and loved it! But now I just can't get past the rubbish music most games had. At least the Mega Drive's music kicked arse!
Hell yeah, Reggie! These all excellent choices! If you haven't played them, I'd also highly recommend Arcus Odyssey, Beyond Oasis, Contra: Hard Corps, Crusader of Centy, Exile, and Gunstar Heroes.
Really interesting and unique selection, Reggie is indeed a fantastic guest to have on MetalJesus's channel. Gotta say I'm glad to see you guys didn't go for the obvious choices but even so a more "predictable" top ten would be nice to have in the future, as long as we apply some rules like "only one game per franchise -i.e. Sonic 2-). I'm surprised at the omission of Gunstar Heroes (imo the best genesis game ever made) or Alien Soldier, but of course I didn't expect to see stuff like Rolling Thunder or the inferior port of Sunset Riders, even if I liked them myself. I wonder which are considered the best rpgs on the system since SNES supposedly has the best ones of the 16 bit period.
Not really a "Top 10", more like "10 games I like that are under-appreciated" - Animaniacs - Street Racer - Zero WIng - Pulseman (from Game Freak!) - Comix Zone - The Ooze - Shinobi III - Dragon's Fury (Pinball game with badass music!) - Global Gladiators - Mean Bean Machine
excellent video, i tend to get a bit depressed watching these lists because of all the awesome stuff i will never afford or find, but those were some sweet looking games. Reggie always delivers

I remember Starflight from when I was a little kid. I had no idea how to play it at the time but I really liked the cover art so I kept trying. It's been 20+ years since the last time I ever played that game and until now I couldn't even remember what the name of the game was, now I want to try and play it again the right way. :P
Reggie loves his "cute anime girls shooting stuff" games.
thats cause he loves hot anime women in games what anime fan would not

Maybe he was talking about Sparkster.
I assumed that, but I thought I'd mention it anyways, just in case. ^^"
Reggie has the best taste in games! I love how he switches out covers to the cooler JP and EU versions when needed and has a bunch of repo carts.
Here is my Top:
1.Comix Zone
2.Shining Force 1 & 2
3.Light Crusader
4.LandStalker
5.Beyond Oasis
6.The Adventures of Batman & Robin
7.Shadow Run
8.Sub Terrania
9.Earthworm Jim 1 & 2
10.Gargoyles
Unfortunately I didn't play Phantasy Star IV.
Oh, Folks! It's impossible to make Top 10. So here is another Top 10. I can't not to mention such gems as:
1.The Lion King
2.Aladdin
3.Toy Story
4.Mickey Mania
5.Flash Back
6.Another World
7.The Lost World: Jurassic Park
8.Scooby-Doo Mystery
9.Zero Tolerance
10.Ecco the Dolphin
You should really play Phantasy Star IV, it is the best Genesis RPGish game besides Landstalker and Shining Force 2.
Harkness78
I will.
Beyond Oasis is very cool-
X-men 2 : Clone Wars (The best x-men game of the 16 bit era)
Mortal Kombat 2 (No need to explain)
Robocop Vs Terminator (This best robocop game and one of the best side-
scroller shooter)
Road Rash 2 (No need to explain)
Comix Zone (No need to explain)
Virtual Bart (Many fun game types all in one package, a variety that will suit
everyone)
Radien Trad (This is the best of its genre, a popular SNES port, many other
similar games try to copy this one)
Haunting Starring Polterguy (There is no other game like this one and
happens to be very fun)
Rock n' Roll Racing (Awsome soundtrack, this game shows how racing
games should be done on a 16 bit system, very fun)
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (an addictive variation of tetris, you will spend hours and hours on this game)
It's always great when Reggie stops by. Maybe ask him to do a 'favourite gaming experiences' video or top 5 games he hates etc.
LOL the barbie ending
TheDanimator's Channel yea that part was funny
If I had to choose someone from the mjr crew to spend a weekend only playing video games it would definitely be Reggie, love this guy he’s awesome!

Metal Jesus, do you have MUSHA? its super rare and supposed to be one of the best shmups of all time!
I do not own the game unfortunately. MUSHA is a bucket-list game for my collection one day
MetalJesusRocks A local store has had a CIB copy for well over a year at 279CDN taxes included. I just bought a Genesis today and went in their to check their selection. They still had it, and it's not a bad price from what I can tell...I want it so much but can't justify the price tag when I'm just getting into Genesis
I own that game I only got it for 15 bucks
Hate that game. Absolutely hate it.
@@daminmancejin ...in 1990
OF course the the most popular guest! He's humble, yet not afraid to speak his honest opinion! He keeps it real af. Props to Reggie and his channel! One of the best youtube gaming personalities
I remember my friend having a game for the megadrive that i dont know the name of but i always think about it
I think is kind of like a diablo style game from the top and i think the enemies drop loot and stuff and its open world in a desert and you can control a vulture/eagle to scout out for you anyone any ideas?
Peace!!
@TheWiddaC
Crusader of Centy
@@ericiberri9139 unfortunately it wasn't anything of such quality lol it was a game called techno clash
The fett man here love your channel metal always watch your stuff bro we need more retro gamers to bring this stuff back!!!
I'd quite like to see a genesis hidden gems video. Genesis has always been the one system I have trouble finding games I like on. I was always a Nintendo guy.
I love sega and nintendo.I used to play the nintendo ds lite when i was a kid.Now i play the genesis and the gameboy a lot lol.
Now you have one!
In no particular order...
10) Arcus Odyssey
9) Eliminate Down
8) Earthworm Jim
7) Granada
6) Ranger X
5) V-V/Grind Stormer
4) Dragon's Fury
3) M.U.S.H.A.
2) Sonic 3 & Knuckles
1) Elemental Master
Metal Jesus Rocks + Reggie = a "really" awesome time!
Hell yeah, Reggie! These all excellent choices! If you haven't played them, I'd also highly recommend Arcus Odyssey, Beyond Oasis, Contra: Hard Corps, Crusader of Centy, Exile, and Gunstar Heroes.
Aladdin was one of my favs
Great vid guys. Love to watch your videos really
Reggie! I would like to recommend Chiki Chiki boys! I just re added it to my collection. It's awesome!
Not really a "Top 10", more like "10 games I like that are under-appreciated"
- Animaniacs
- Street Racer
- Zero WIng
- Pulseman (from Game Freak!)
- Comix Zone
- The Ooze
- Shinobi III
- Dragon's Fury (Pinball game with badass music!)
- Global Gladiators
- Mean Bean Machine
excellent video, i tend to get a bit depressed watching these lists because of all the awesome stuff i will never afford or find, but those were some sweet looking games. Reggie always delivers
Shining force 2 is easily one the greatest games sad to see it not in this list

The ooze is so weird, I love it.
I remember Starflight from when I was a little kid. I had no idea how to play it at the time but I really liked the cover art so I kept trying. It's been 20+ years since the last time I ever played that game and until now I couldn't even remember what the name of the game was, now I want to try and play it again the right way. :P
I really like Atomic Runner. Then I read a stack of bad reviews on the web. Maybe I enjoy it because I loved Chelnov at the arcade.
My three favourites: Streets of Rage 2, Decap Attack, Tiny Toons!
Robocop vs. Terminator! :D
Goldberg1337 is this real life?
Dude you guy's have the best videos I swear.
There are still a decent amount of Genesis titles I want to add to the collection ;)
All of them are really awesome! Thanks for the video.
No love for Vectorman though?? No one ever mentions Vectorman... :(
i do! Vectorman is awesome!!
I respect this list because these are all slept-on gems even I never heard of growing up in this era, so ty for the education & finds!
