  • Hey Y'all! Let's cook some good ol'e okra with fresh garden veggies! This is the best way to enjoy okra in my opinion. I even like it more than fried okra. I cook okra like this regularly during the summer, especially when my garden is in full swing.
Pair this with one of my cornbread recipes for some good eating!
Moist Jiffy Cornbread: • MOIST JIFFY CORNBREAD ...
Brown Sugar Swirled Cornbread: • Soul food BROWN SHUGA ...
    Ingredients
1 lb Okra ( or more)
    1 tomato
    1 ear of corn
    1/2 onion
2 tsp salt free cajun seasoning
    Cajun Seasoning
    water or chicken broth
    2 slices bacon
    1/2 red bell pepper
    2 cloves garlic

I made your recipe last week and I need to tell you that I never made okra before. I made it for my husband because he absolutely loves it. Well to my surprise he ate the whole pot minus a bowl worth!!! I couldn't believe it!!! He loved it!!! Actually I am making another pot today a week later. I also made your neck bone recipe yesterday. He loved that also!!! Thanks so much sis!!

I hated okra because it was slimy, and my mom use to make this getting everything from the garden. We had no meat with it but cornbread. This was every year when I was small to teenager. She no longer had a garden, but I knew she would buy it the store. I was old enough to work and I ate out. I made it with the one okra on top sometimes in cheesecloth. My husband was a meat eater bless his heart so was my dad. I hated to see that garden started every year the though of that okra just turned my stomach. Mine was good for a quick change in the winter in California.

I think people whine a lot about the slime in us and I listened to all that chatter for a long time..........then I cooked it n it was fine. Not slime imho✌🏼

You can’t wash veggies over each other, you need to move the colander to the side😂😂😂

I don't see why not. the water is continuously flowing so if anything gets on the ones below it will also wash off. plus i tend to do a general overall rinse of the basket when im all finished to make sure all is clean.

Then why do they come labeled Cajun seasoned? I literally bought Cajun seasoning in Louisiana, it was made and sold there

The tip of the okra is edible. Both sides are but I don’t like the top part

Please don't put CHEESE in them! That not how we do it, To much seasoning takes AWAY from the TASTE.
