This somehow sounds more 80s than the original
If the Top Gun Anthem was developed for an 80s TV series like CHiPs or Dallas or something similar
@@00Revell YES exactly the kind of vibe i was getting
Except that the 80s had more modern sound than anyone gives it credit for. This does remind me of 70s and early 80s TV show intro music though
Makes it sound like it's an opening to an old documentary and I love it XD
Great work to the Air Force Band…. You can’t fake this. Just like the movie Top Gun & Top Gun Maverick no green screen, just real life action minus the puke.
Ah yes. The airforce covering the theme song to one of the best navy movies ever.
Pretty much the Airforce is the second hand navy.
In Australia, we don't actually naval pilots.
Edit: We don't have fighter pilots in the navy.
@@ThatSimPilot_ not anymore
@@ThatSimPilot_ the chopper pilots bruv
You can't just appreciate the amazing cover?
“Oh you’re in the military? Thank you for your service what do you do?”
“I shred on the guitar”
To be in the air force band u need to be in the Air Force
@@dctungsten no really? I had no idea
@@CAC1Aimer nah you need to have a job in the air force to then join the band. Like being a pilot then joining it
@@jeffmandu3108 maybe in Australia, in the US all you need is the basic training.
@@jeffmandu3108 Not true. Musician is its own trade. And they are extremely busy people. Training when they are not performing, and performing when they are not training. And then on top of that they are all still soldiers/aviators and as such, have to do their weapons qualifications and their monthly/semi-annual/annual certifications.
When that guitar riff hits, absolute shivers. I love this song and this is an awesome rendition
Agree!
i ain't an aussie but this video is straight-up beautiful and graceful. It's got history, music, and a bunch of soldiers in uniform performing like a professional orchestral band 🥰🥰🥰
Little fun fact about the RAAF, they have a dedicated band. They're in uniform, but they're a dedicated band.
@@merlo1744 the AIF also have their own band. I've only seen them once in coffs but it was amazing
Most militaries have a band. They used to be the ones who would play out the orders and calls on the battlefield by drum and bugle.
All full time musicians in the ADF bands are recruited as professional musicians, then do basic training.
I love Top Gun. I love the sequel now. And now I love how the air force honors the best navy movie ever in this incredible video.
Not US Air Force, but Royal Australian Air Force ;)
Am I the only one who gets chills with this theme?
No, both the original and this one are very impressive.
No you’re not.
maybe no, with this remastered version, Aussie pilots can listen while striking the flock of emus with missiles
Your not alone

As someone who plays French horn, I was overjoyed to hear my instrument get the melody at 1:28. We don't usually get the melody and these guys sound great.
It has a very noble sound to it.
That guitar riff is something else!!!! You guys killed it!
yes!
The Royal Marine band has a pretty good guitar player as well.
An American military movie played by the Australian Air Force. Gotta love it!❤️🤍💙🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
just finished watching top gun maverick and i can't forget this song
Haven’t been able to forget it since I watched the original
F-111 was such a cool plane. Saw it at the Pierce airshow in the 90s when I was a kid, I was obsessed with it for a long while after that.
I wish they still did air shows at Pierce, they stopped doing them a few years back. I went to the last one
vARK VARK VARK VARK VARK
I was a jet engine mechanic in the air force, worked on F-16s, but we had EF-111s (with electronic radar jammers) that i also helped out with. (Cannon AFB) I noticed the F111 right off the bat.
I was there and posted colors on honor guard for the EF111 retirement ceremony. It was retired after it had developed over 16 different versions and became a parts supply nightmare.
there's just nothing hotter than a dump & burn....
@@BaghdadieDave I was based at Amberley when the first RAAF F111 landed and a tire blew out.
Some bloody good historical footage here guys! You need to share more of the history! From someone who was lucky enough to work with defence as a contractor, We love this shit that you guys take for granted! More open days, get the community involved wed love to meet and greet and see this stuff! It inspires and sparks such pride in our beautiful nation and its history!
Great Cover , phantastic Old Pictures Greetings from Germany Ed
Dich hät ich jetzt hier echt nicht erwartet😂
Absolutely beautiful. Much love from Canada!
Much kudos to the musicians involved! They were all SPOT ON!
Just watched it today, awesome movie, made my dreams of joining the air force bigger
Top Gun is Navy, not Air Force...
@@lebowlmart4425 Top Gun isn't Australian
@@SA345yt we know, us Australians have dreams of flying in our air force to fly f18s in which the us navy has
@@SA345yt its a movie about planes, the australian navy doesnt have those, the airforce is the only option

Salute to the Royal Australian Air Force your courage and dedication will never be forgotten
Don’t care which Air Force band, this is just well done.
"Ah, you're a pilot."
"That's right, a Naval aviator."
Imagine this is the future U.S Air Force Anthem
100%
Respect from the UK 🇬🇧, served with you guys on Op Herrick 16B
One of the oldest air forces in the world, and one that has always punched well above its weight. I love all the historical footage.
The way it's all capped off with the F-111 burning off into the skies seems almost somber. It might've been a bastard to maintain, but everyone loved that pig. Coincidentally, it was also the reason why the F-14 had been developed, because the American navy wasn't happy with their version of it.
And oddly it's after the F-14 got rid of those same engines used in the F-111 that the F-14 truly began to shine.
2nd oldest air force after the brits
I see a lot of people saying, “Air Force pLaYiNg A sOnG FrOm a nAvY mOvIE… lol.” Remember. Aviation isn’t about the branch. It’s a love for flying. Navy/Air Force/army/marines. This song is for everyone that loves flying.
Wouldn't really be appropriate for the RAN's band to be playing this since they haven't had fixed wing aircraft since before this movie came out!
Woo
Top Gun USA: Because I was inverted
Top Gun Australia: Because he was inverted
Good Morning aviators its your captain speaking!!
That guitar is insane
Love it, let's go Maverick.
You can already imagine how famous the movie is getting
Well done all! A great arrangement of this well known tune, a well shot and edited video with interesting aviation footage, as well a focus on the skilled musicians. I really enjoyed watching and listening... :-)
Awesome mate!...I have family in the RAAF... I saw Top Gun 2 the other day Tom Cruise has not lost his cool and neither has the F14... thanks from across the ditch 👍🇳🇿
The Tomcat will NEVER loss it’s cool!
Top Gun anthem...was a soundtrack of a movie about naval aviation...but now it become a soundtrack to all military aviation service...
the guy on the guitar is shredding it ! love it.
There are two of them. Which one?

In Australia the Air Force does the job of the Navy, since for them the seas are where the sky should be, that's why Top Gun is considered an air force movie over there
One reason is that they don't have a carrier so...
America's true and most faithful ally.
This video is criminally underrated
it has got more videos than majority of the videos in their channel,so it worked, I'd say
I've been attending RAAF open days in Darwin for the last 20 plus years. It was great to see footage of the F111 again. Great cover of the TG music too.
Sounds amazing. Its like travelling back in time, transported to the 80s.
The great music anthem all of the time...
I KNEW this had to be a foreign Air Force, because there is NO WAY the U.S. Air Force would honor a song and movie about the U.S. Navy. LOL! the rivalry between the U.S. branches, esp between fly Air Force or fly Navy, is strong, and that is what helps make them the best in the world!

Kicking tires and lighting fires for over 100 years. A very fine tradition of excellence.
Well done Aussies! Over to you USN band....
I was born waay after the first Top Gun was released, but I find this song melancholically nostalgic.
Awesome music along with a fantastic background thanks heaps for your great work Band Sqn stay safe all of you and take care
Top gun my favourite the whole time

One word. BRILLIANT!!! Thank you!
That was absolutely amazing thank you 🙏😊
all those old classic planes, I have been reading the Then Now Always 100 years of RAAF book so its cool seeing those
This is awesome! especially the guitar riffs
With this video I can only wonder how much Top Gun, a American movie about best pilots of the US navy, has helped other
nations get their numbers up.
oh believe me Top Gun is a cultural icon it has definitely helped the Navies and the Airforces of a lots of countries
Awesome! Would be good to see a renewed version of Advance Australia Fair, Waltzing Matilda or Highland Cathedral - might even be a good try to do the "Armed Services Medley of the US Military" as a tribute to our alliance with the USA. Keep it up Band!
Actually, this is pretty darn good!!! 😎
Beautiful!
A beautiful rendition of a classic favourite. You have really outdone yourself, RAAF!
Gets me in the Feels every time.
Best song of the year.

Nice new spin on a great iconic tune..so great that they just re mixed a little for the new movie..
This is amazing! By some long shot, I wish Tom Cruise could see this! Thank you for your service from the daughter of a Guadalcanal Campaign Purple Heart Marine who loved his time spent in Australia!
