- This video will take the viewer on a tour of THE VILLAGES in central Florida. We will visit several sections of the Villages and see the various styles of homes in the different neighborhoods. We will also visit a Recreation Centre and see several Town Squares where they have nightly entertainment . We will visit in detail The Village of Spanish Springs and its square. We will also see the massive number of golf carts and their own roadway network.

Yes, I have lived here for one year. We love our home. The Villages is a retirement community. But, 20% of the residents can be under 55 if they sign a waiver. Young adults are able to live with their parents indefinitely. Also, Air B & B’s are allowed here. Homes are being sold to corporations and they use the homes as Air B & B’s. This corporations are making loads of money at our expense. These homes will have multiple families staying at one time and any age children can also stay. It is like living next to a hotel’s pool. Constant screaming and partying. Yes, retiring to a perfect home and hearing this everyday. Most people will say, “just move.” Sounds easy, but if this is your only home you must wait two years to sell or you will pay capital gains which is no small price. The Villages will not do anything about this situation. So think a long time before purchasing in The Villages.
This is exactly what we heard and we decided not to move to the Villages. It’s a gimmick there and you drank the koolaid. It’s not the friendliest place either. The realtors are very pushy and tell you to sell everything and buy it all when you move to the Villages. It’s ridiculous. So sorry you got scammed.

So many people enjoy this lifestyle. Happy to know there is a beautiful place like this. I am not as social after the loss of my husband and settled in a tiny hamlet on the Sapelo River, right on the Georgia coast. I look out over the beautiful river and marsh, just beyond is the Atlantic Ocean. So very quiet and peaceful. Three hundred year old giant oaks cover us all in their canopy. There is a tiny cemetery where some Civil War and older, are buried. Unless you know exactly where your going, you would never find us.
My coastal cottage is over 100 yrs old, and modified over the years with a gut job of kitchen and one bathroom when I moved in. Beautiful old moldings, five panel doors and old crown moulding throughout. The owner before me added a large screened porch overlooking the beautiful river through the marsh to the sea.
As The Villages is not for everyone, nor is the quiet and pitch black nights where I live. We have no crime as we know who belongs here and who doesn’t. Occasionally someone will stumble on our little Shangri La, and want to know if anything is for sale. Most of these old homes are passed down through the generations. It was only a fluke that I bought mine.
There has not been a hurricane here since 1898. We have had some big blows, as they have gone past us up to poor SC. But, an occasional roof has had damage, we are quite sheltered.
The important thing is to live where it brings you joy.
The very best to those who suffered such terrible damages from Ian. May you rebuild and prosper once again.

Did you mention that there are NO gas stations and No Electric Charging in the Villages + no signs such as "center city >>>>>>>" and its confusing at best to get out of this place without GPS?????
