Thank You Jay! We will throw in to your offer, a dovetail marking knife with the saw tooth blade, a Shawn shim (named after the genius behind the idea, wounded Vet Shawn McDermott), a dovetail marker (made by an excellent craftsman and wounded Vet Jesse Rufiange), and a Cosman marking Gauge. Let the games begin!! We just completed our 26th workshop and have had 175 soldiers go through our program. We do 6 workshops each year, it is 6 days long and has 7 wounded Vets and 7 paying students. We have our meals on site, we now have accommodations for the Vets on site as well. Each Vet takes home $4k in tools, a lot of the expense is now covered by patriots around the world. We are a 501C3 registered charity in the US and soon to be similar status in Canada. While most of our Vets come from the US, we have had 2 from Australia, 1 from Denmark, 1 from Ireland and we get a good number from Canada. Thank you for the exposure, our biggest challenge remains finding the wounded soldiers.
Hope you have a prosperous new year!

Did 2 combat tours in Afghanistan. Got out of the Marines in 2014. Found woodworking after 2 years of drowning myself in a bottle of Jack. What Rob Cosman, Colonel Luther, and the entire team do for combat wounded veterans is beyond keeping the craft alive, it’s literally saving lives. Semper Fi

I have attended Rob’s course as a wounded veteran. Rob, the whole Cosman clan and everyone associated with the purple heart project are exceptional humans and do so much for veterans.

Catching yourself out like that must have caused such a sinking feeling. And for Rob not to mention it, says quite a lot about his character.
Nice gesture to remedy the situation. Seems like a great initiative too.

Hey Jay just want you to know something. How you described Rob when remembering the way you felt about it is how we think of you. And your humble but to most of us that have been with you during your career of teaching us it’ll always be a Jay Bates miter station and Jay Bates workbench. Thanks for all you do and what you’ve taught us.

Thanks for the shout out about the PHP Bench Brigade and the PHP. I have built a couple of benches for PH Vets in the Dallas area. I can not tell you how satifying it is to build and present the benches to them. They are so grateful to receive the bench. As you said you can have all the hand tools, but the work bench is the missing tool. It helps you really enhances the use of the hand tools. You really don't realize what what a difference it makes to have a solid work bench. Greater clamping, holding and no rebound when you hammer on a chisel. Again, great idea to do the raffel. It is really for a great cause.

Hey Gary, my name is Noah I was in the Oct 2023 class of training the hand with Rob. I recieved my bench last month from Tidewater Woodworkers Guild in VA. From veterans all over to people like you who build those benches.... thank you. When I run my hands along the wood I can feel the love put into it by volunteers everywhere. I'm easy to find on Facebook or wherever. If you, the people at your place that help or anyone else who helps with those benches, if you'll reach out to me I'll get your address, I'd like to send u a thank you. Nothing crazy just a small token of my appreciation. Thank you again. 🇺🇸 💪

This video started, got to Rob Cosman and I thought okay I have a lot to say here. Video continues and dang it you said almost everything. I started about ten years before you with hand tools at Woodcraft, when Rob was pushing some of the Lie Nelson tools. Man I dropped down the rabbet hole about a mile - bought lots of those LN tools etc at Woodcraft. Then I found Robs's channel about the same time I found yours. I have lots of respect for the people and the craftsmanship of you two. Rob is a perfectionist above perfection. You are not to far behind. His hand tool abilities as you have noticed are something we all need to aspire to be like. The Purple Heart Project is very moving and emotional to see. Good to see you participating in this.

You’re a good man, Jay. We all sometimes fall short of our expectations for ourselves. How we recover is what integrity is made of. I purchased my raffle tix. As a disabled veteran, a woodworker, and someone also JUST scratching the surface of hand tool woodworking, everything about this is right up my alley.

Hi Jay, thank you for this auction, for fulfilling your agreement with Rob, and especially for the
PHP acknowledgment and your journey into handtool woodworking. God bless you for creating this selfless event and helping Rob to get the word out ... Too many of our Vets are suffering in ways we civilians can't even comprehend ... we all need to help ... we owe these men and women so much!

I am a veteran and this raffle is a great way to help out wounded veterans - thank you for your community involvement! It is really great to see all the content creators that you have promoted over the years! Keep up the great work! Oh, and your daughter is really cute on your videos!😊

One of the first woodworking tools I purchased after migrating to Canada from the UK was a Rob Cosman dovetail saw. It is a thing of beauty and I love what they’re doing with the purple heart project.
I hope to one day be able to attend a workshop myself but for now I’m happy supporting what they do virtually.

Jay, this is a fantastic thing you're doing~! I've been a long time fan of Rob's teaching/videos and am looking forward to getting into a Train The Hand workshop. I was scheduled to attend the Aug '22 course, but it was cancelled due to COVID. I'm not a "combat-wounded" vet, but I am a 20-year Army retiree with other "souvenirs" and I will be happily paying for this experience. I completely agree that Rob, COL Luther, and the rest of the gang are Saving Lives through this program. About 18-24 months before signing up, I started buying the tools (from Rob) required to attend the course so that I'd be ready. The tools they produce are top notch and I'd put them up against others for whom I consider to be the best on the market (Lie-Nielsen, Lee Valley, etc...). I was looking to sign up again for the TTH workshop this year ('24), but it filled up faster than I'd expected, so hopefully next year will be my opportunity to attend.
I've been following you too since the beginning of your TH-cam days and have learned a great deal from you as well over the years~! You are in MY top 3 for woodworkers from whom I have learned the most. The other two being Rob & Marc Spagnuolo. Okay, I guess it's really top 4 because I HAVE to include Norm. 😀 Thanks for all that you do, Jay~!

"Retail therapy" for woodworkers = cluttered shelves with tools we only occasionally (if at all) use. It's great that your daughter is encouraging you to re-engage with handtools, but kudos to you for not only remembering your undertaking to Rob but actually doing something about your undertaking ~ something that is rare in these days.
I am an anti-militarist (too angry to be a pacifist), but I am a citizen of the democratic country I live in, whose goverment is voted in by the citizens, and said government from time to time sends our defence personal into harms way (including Duntroon and other shore bases); it behoves the citizens of my country to support those current and former defence force personal who have suffered physical and mental trauma as a result of their service, irrespective of whether or not we supported /agreed with the reasons for their deployment.
In the Antipodes, ANZAC Day "Lest We Forget" is celebrated once a year, but shamefully for the rest of the year, our veterans and service personal are forgotten.

I follow these guys not only for the great woodworking content, but also because they are honorable men of principle and integrity. Good on you Jay for realizing your lack of follow through (we've all been there), and making it right in a fun and creative way that supports a tremendous cause. Raffle purchased.

Thank you Jay for bringing attention to the PHP. Rob performs a live 2 hour PHP focused TH-cam approximately every 2 weeks to help fundraise money for the veteran’s scholarships. At the end of every show, based on how much money is raised, he gives tools or veteran made projects-all top quality stuff. I encourage everyone to participate in these live TH-cam events. They are typically topic focused or an “Ask Rob Anything,”; you can watch the replays on his TH-cam channel.

I have followed the RC PHP since before its inception, and have built two workbenches under Jack Lane, the Bench Brigade "Brigadier's" guidance. They were probably the most fulfilling experiences I have had doing woodworking.
