You are a homie and a half, great way of re reviewing all of this. Myself and everyone else who hasnt really should get on donating to you and this channel.
Literally the best explanation on this topic I've ever come across! You are the best. I'm sitting here in awe at how much clarity I've gained from this one video :o Thank you so much DM!
sir I don’t know what this world has done to deserve you , you are amazing teacher. you are doing a great job ,keep going and stay blessed. i almost watched your each and every video and every single video is amazing thank you so much sir !
Help me understand the process of alcoholism and TCA cycle shuts down? What happens when that person eats sugar? Where does the sugar go? Stored in the liver and not the cells? Or the sugar doesn’t produce atp energy for the alcoholic? Is seems like the solution would be to take mct oil and exogenous ketones? This is good stuff?? This video has me really curious as to the pathway?
I'm late to the video but just in case you're still active and replying, I have a question. Is acetylacetyl CoA the same as acetoacetyl CoA? That's what I'm seeing in my textbook
A 4th way you can form ketone bodies is by following the KETO Diet! haha. But I suppose this can go under starvation because the idea is to deprive your body from Carbs so insulin stays low.
I would be very interested in references on this. It seems not quite right in that 1. OAA scan be supplied from Asp via transamination. 2. Acetyl-CoA is an activator of pyruvate carboxylase which will increase OAA when needed for TCA cycle. No? Also, liver is active in gluconeogenesis but liver doesn’t use ketone bodies. Not a challenge but what about these points?
Ketones get converted back to acetyl-coA when they reach their destination. How are ketones then helping to produce energy if the TCA cycle can't continue because of the lack of oxaloacetat? Why form ketones because of oxaloacetate depletion if you need oxaloacetate to gain energy from ketones?
Can Someone Please Clear This Doubt For ME.. Why does buildup of acetyl CoA from failure of TCA cycle shunt towards Ketones and not gluconeogenesis? Acetyl CoA stimulates pyruvate carboxylase right
@@whitelion124 I would also think that ETC Complex 2 is an enzyme on TCA Cycle (Succinyl DH). So inhibiting TCA cycle directly inhibits ETC. So they can't use it even though there's a high amount of NADH
Can someone please explain how it is possible to use Ketones as an energy source? If it is actually formed due to oxaloacetate depletion or a NAD/NADH disbalance and if it's degradation would form acetyl CoA as a final product, how would it produce energy without undergoing TCA cycle?
He states when things are depleted and no oxaloacetate, our body will produce ketones as a result of a loss of ATP. The TCA cycle will not commence. Ketones will be the new source of energy.
That TCA cycle takes energy to go thru the whole process? Thus more energy short cut with ketones? Ketones also release less free radicals, so less Glutathione needed?
This one truly left me SHOOK. Big brain moment right here

Thank u very much 😍 this literary saves tons of time!!!! It's amazing how you cover THIS huge topic just in 20 mins!!
Wow this video just blew my mind, you absolutely killed it sir, BRAVO to you
Your biochem series is amazing! Great job. 😄
You are awesomely has the science, the general vision and the detailed one..beside the marvilous mnemonics.
Go on plz
Incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!!!

Best video ever. Thank you!
You’re amazing. Seriously you’re GOD to me, I was severely depressed about biochem but I see hope for myself now 🙏🏻
Such a blasphemous comment
yeah, this teacher is amazing
@@realworldmotivation2 Agreed!
Great job .... You have made the topic so simple ...
it 's really help me for my final examination . GOOD EXPLANATION !!!!
You hammered it down with repetition, WAY TOO MUCH, so that it can be engraved in my brain.😍 I love it because it's just what I need!
You make biochem so easy. Bravo
Thank you for creating this video. God bless you
Another informative enlightening video! Could you please make a video on cholesterol synthesis?
Looking into metabolism for a year now. These are awesome lectures. Thanks a lot
Very good explanation ❤😊 love from India ❤ best ever taught, thank you so much sir
Amazing job, Dirty Medicine. You rock!!
Thanks for explaining!
I absolutely loved this. I am a fan now.....

I will pass Philippine Licensure Examination because of you.
thank you very very much really you are amazing
thank you
The BHB tests will measure only the BHB that has NOT been used by the body.
Increased NADH to NAD ration in alcholics and pyruvate - lactate pathway
You are the best 😭♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Very well-done 🥰🤩
Please make a video on harmful effects of ketone bodies.
Please explain how ketone synthesis occurs when someone eats low curb high fat diet.
So Keto-Diet is ?.. good/bad?

Great video for students but why does the body make 3 ketones? Surely one is enough?
If alcoholic have increase NADH why dont they directly go to ETC?????
Probably because we're in the liver, at least that's my best guess.
@@whitelion124 I would also think that ETC Complex 2 is an enzyme on TCA Cycle (Succinyl DH). So inhibiting TCA cycle directly inhibits ETC. So they can't use it even though there's a high amount of NADH
GOAT!!!!
How is this free :'D Thank you sir!
❤️
Da bestest
Did you mean starvation was equal to very low carbohydrate diet?
i gonna give the IFOM exam ...i hope this video helpful for me😍😍
Umakant Shinde Yes , extremely useful for IFOM , I recommend you all the videos for review
Good Luck

You got a magic ocean potion advertisement on your video. Really pushing the agenda they are.
acetoacetyl-CoA* but same thing.
Wait a sec, statins are called hmg-Coa inhibitors. So basically statins will prevent you from building ketones.
Does that mean, byproduct of ketones synthesis is cholesterol? I'm not in medical school. Just learning for personal health.
ok I love you
If you're NOT DIABETIC ketosis is the preferred fuel of the body. BHB is what you want.
You are not starving, you are fasting.
8:15
Can't you talk about how the body uses these ketone bodies to fuel your life, if you are NOT diabetic.
Ammmmmmmmzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggggggg!
