Nice seeing some of these again. Brings back the joys of my time at primary school, borrowing and copying loads and loads of games haha!!! Good times!!!

Citadel! I've been waiting for this one to come up. Just a stunning game. Must play it again some time (using the walkthrough guide of course... time is precious when you're in your forties).

My older brother had an electron...For about 5 minutes. It never worked. Went back to Dixons twice. Last time for a full refund, which he then spent on a Tamiya radio controlled car, which was great fun.

Best and for me the most difficult puzzle was one where you found some kind of food that you needed to take somewhere and give to someone, presumably who was hungry 😂. Anyway eventually after various failed attempts I found a fire to cook the food. It then worked!! Fabulous early arcade adventure 💯

    Citadel ... Simply brilliant.

I've only played Citadel 2, so it's interesting to see what the original was like. Another great ep, thanks for sharing.

Citadel was part of the excitement of watching games get better and better in the early to mid 80s. At school, our BBC micros loaded the game and an awful speech synthesizer said "Citadel, citadel, this is citadel"... Except the "C" in citadel sounded like a "Sh", so you can imagine what 14 year old boys made of that...
Then the Electron version had these bands of rubbish at top and bottom of the screen (using screen RAM for variable space?). But I didn't care, I wanted that game...

Incidentally, some of that music is a bit too sophisticated for the humble Electron

I had Tomcat on C64 and it was full colour and not jerky at all. Not as good as 1942 but not a bad vertical scrolling shooter.

Gremlins was actually a pretty good text adventure, but it needs the graphics at least, on the Speccy, there would be a Hobbit style line and fill screen, but it provided vital clues.
Gotta love the 80's, where it was ok to make a game that relied on the player reading a book or watching a movie :)

At last! Citadel! It's been interesting to see all the Citadel knock-offs in your videos. I don't think any of them look as good as the original though.

'Ere Dave, are we ever gonna get any more of these compilations? I love them. LOVE THEM.

Well, maybe... I ran out of Acorn Electron games. I did some Dragon 32 games in the same format. I did a few Spectrum, Amstrad and Beeb games in one minute vids... Then there was the tour de force #CPCRetroDev 2016 vid that took about 2 months to piece together. If you watch everything on the channel it adds up to about nine hours... But I can always do more, of course.

I've watched just about everything you've done (All with a BBC/Electron connection, but quite a bit of the other stuff too). As a BBC fan, from having one and still having one (well, several!), I'd love to see the format covering purely BBC games as well, as there are so many, and I love the one minute reviews.
(BTW, that's just a fanboys thanks/request; having done quite a bit of video work myself over the years for people, I know full well how long these "little projects" can take time-wise!) :)

Awsome soundtracks in the back - are they from the actual games (I suspect not?)

Wow, had never seen Gremlins in action before. Such a level of required pre-knowledge is beyond belief!
Agreed with you about Tomcat too, in some respects. The game does look dazzling but plays like a bitch. The parallax scrolling is unprecedented on the Beeb or Elk but God only knows why they couldn't fix the firing offset! Still, worth noting that it was only a £1.99 title.

All the other versions of Gremlins had graphics.
