Something I wanted to highlight is the point you made that new players don't want to specialize too early into one role or character archetype. A good book by David Epstein called "Range: Why Generalists Triumph in a Specialized World", explains that while in fair learning environments like golf, specializing earlier will be beneficial, when it comes to more dynamic environments where you can't just perfect every single scenario through experience alone, gaining "conceptual reasoning skill that can connect new ideas and work across contexts" through playing each role and hero is super important for Overwatch in particular. So I want to really highlight that if you are new to the game, play around with each hero, experiment with them (very important!), make mistakes, and use that general information to help you grow once you decide to specialize.
I personally recommend using the Mystery Heroes mode, since it forces you through random character upon each death, meaning you can try different characters and quite possibly find the one you resonate the most with
@@rans0mware Leave him what you said was spot on never really played support then I got POTG twice with Moira and now she's the new main same with symmetra and sigma

A follow-up video I'd love to see: Best Hero Pool for Your Main. You mentioned really working on a small hero pool once you've learned the basics, and I'm wondering who you specifically think work as hero pools. I've assumed that the two biggest factors for a secondary are overlap in skill sets, and a good alternative if your main is being countered. I don't know if being countered is as big of a deal in OW2, but it still probably matters. Other considerations could be someone fast if you need to stall on the point; someone that can respond to heroes your main can't (Symm or Reaper can't deal with Pharah/Ecco very easily); or heroes that work on maps your main isn't good on. I'd be super interested in hearing your reasoning on how you'd choose, then hear you break down each Main, and which heroes you recommend learing. Possibly this would need one video per class.
You mostly want heroes in the same role. It also is a good idea to have a couple outside that role, ex learn soldier as a projectile dps just in case they have pharah
@Sky sometimes it's better to specialize across classes for more flexibility. Like Ana and widow or hog and reaper. I personally focus zen, mcree, and some tanks (zarya, dva, rein, hog,) to fill most roles.
Man, I swear, as a Kiriko main, if I see a Kiriko teleport to a teammate, and then instantly turn to where they are and heal them, I will bow in admiration. I teleport, turn 180, looking everywhere spamming the healing glyphs (trying not to die) and then it turns out he jumped up and was standing on my head or some bullcrap like that
I teleport and die most of the time you have to use her teleports wisely and not teleport to a dying teammate if you know they're out of position. Learning as I go
I'm really interested to see a video going over how Supports will have for roles moving forward. It's clear that Main Support and Flex Support as we knew them at the end of OW1 is not going to be applicable in OW2. We see that especially with Joats being the staple meta comp atm using both Lucio and Brig. This is especially important to me as I am seeking to join a team soon. Oh, and if anyone is reading this comment and don't know what Main and Flex Supports were, basically Main Supports were less mechanically intensive heroes who could constantly act as the glue that kept the team together and was largely a communicative and big picture role and often composition dependent, while Flex Supports were more more mechanically demanding, aggressive, and often cooldown dependent who thus needed their heads more in the game rather than the big picture and more likely to swap to characters to adapt to the situation.
I think we will just end up taking the term more at its literal value, rather than the generalized one. When talking about a "main" character, it essentially roots in how important they are for the team comp's core win condition / value proposition. For example, if you play a traditional Rush comp, Lucio is a main support because he's the hero who specifically enables the Rush playstyle with his speed boost, thus he's the "main" factor. Same with Tank: In traditional Ball+Dva dive comp for example, Ball starts out as the Main tank because he's the one who sets up the dive and forces the initial engage that everyone else follows - but as soon as the Dive is engaged, Dva becomes the main tank because she's now the least mobile hero until she gets her cooldowns back, thus whatever she focuses, should be what everyone else also focus. Taking this to OW2, the concept of main and off support will most likely emerge again, but with new context. And it will only come once certain meta playstyles have been well defined to the point where the general playerbase defaults to those playstyles by nature (like how players used to play Rein+Zarya comps on King's Row). This will ofc take time depending on each rank, but ultimately you can still look at it like this: Main support: Enables the core value of your team comp (be it sustain, dive potential, rush potential, etc) Off/Flex support will enable those core values to reach their highest potential, or help negate enemy advantages that are directly challenging your main win conditions.
@@deusvult6920 Read my comment and come again. The average idea of "flex support" is spawned out of an easy-to-grasp average built off of typical metas, where the "flex" hero is typically the hero that you can swap around to accomodate various niches and altered playstyles without compromising the core strength of the comp itself. Lucio is very much a main support in comps that are built around speed, as "main" indicates what the comp's primary win condition is built around. In a comp like Rush that holds its entire win condition on chasing down the enemy with superior speed, Lucio is very much the "main support" for that comp. But in most ranked games, either there aren't hard defined comps like in the metal ranks, so the "main" support tends to end up being the one that offers most sustain and acts as the backbone for the team's survival, and in high ranks it's simply the supports that are most commonly used in the defined metas that players default to. If you play on a team or semi-pro / pro, you learn the true meaning of "flex and main", you rarely see the true terms being used in ranked ladder though, here it's just the most convenient approximation that applies to most matchups that is pushed forward. The true meaning of the terms are these: "Main hero" = hero that is vital for the core win condition of the team "Flex hero" = hero that can be interchanged to unlock/counter various advantages/disadvantages
@@Real_MisterSir Still a newbie here but what I notice in most matches is you generally have a "sustain" support (eg Ana, Kiriko) and a "utility" support (eg Mercy, Zen). Double sustain can still work for splitting the team for flanks, pincers (especially on KOTH). Double utility is really rare, but can work for making the most of spawn advantage.
@@TassoMite using both her spinning and throwing apear to push tables off the map or away from healers into my team is genuinely my favourite thing to do rn, that and spearing lucio off the map
as someone who used to main moira (80+ HOURS) before kiriko (16 hours), I now how moira players think, to the point where i know where they gonna fade, i know to not fear the purple ball etc etc. It is good to put many hours into all the heros in order to have a good understanding on how the players think
Love the Evangelion; Angels last thesis background music. Picking up OW for the first time myself and instantly gravitated towards Ana, and Kiriko. with that regard, I'm enjoying Genji and Echo as well. It has been really fun improving on these characters and their impactful but skittish playstyles are just what i have been looking for to improve competitively. My process for finding these characters was alot quicker because I had a good idea of how I wanted to play. Keep your goals clear, but your heart open to change and you will find a main that is right for you!
I'm actually super glad you explained what tanks are supposed to DO. I've always understood that tanks are basically beefy characters, but never quite understood what their job really is. So thanks for that!😊
Rule #1 for Overwatch: You absolutely do not want to have a "main" - you do not want to be a one-trick-pony. This video is actually a bit of a new player trap in that regard. While learning the heroes one by one is, of course, a good approach, you eventually want to pick your heroes based on what complements your team comp and/or counters the enemy.
So really what you should do is focus one role and within that role maybe 2 or 3. And even if you wanna do all the roles, focus on 2 or so heroes in each. Like I play brig and Moira. Then rein and dva. Then sombra and tracer. But mostly support
It's not hard to find a main, you will gravitate to the hero that fits your natural playstyle. You want to try to learn heroes that are similar to your most played to expand your pool.
Never played overwatch before, mainly a battlefield 3&4 player with a bit of cod, this type of game, both it being mainly non ads and a hero/mobaish shooter is completely new to me so these vids are really helping I'm still in the process of unlocking and trying new characters and roles but I love the idea of really getting familiar enough to understand the ins and outs of a character and role, from all the mobility tricks to being able to time that specific projectile perfectly etc Then also then getting to know other characters and roles to get an idea of how to counter them or play them too when needed So much potential depth to team comp and strategy, I'm trying to find a balance atm between learning the characters and how to play them but also just jump on the game and have fun till I get more of a feel for the gameplay so yeah, thank you these are going to be a huge learning resource and subbed
Similar and surprised how much I'm enjoying it - the objective base makes it really clear what to do and do. Lots of characters but enough shooters to start with.
Best characters for you learn the fundamentals of the game would be Reaper but if you have good aim any hitscan character will be good except widow bcz you’ll be flamed. For good reason if you aren’t getting picks. For support Moira is the best for new players but if you have good aim zen is very good. You do have to keep in mind that zen has very low healing so playing him with another support with very low healing will be very ineffective. For tanks Winston and zarya are best bcz of the simplicity of their kits but both are for 2 different playstyles AND team composition. In this game you do have to be flexible maps are very bad for some characters or very good. Kings row is very good zarya map but Havana has very long alleys and she doesn’t have very good range. Most important thing to understand about this game is team composition. Now you don’t have to be strictly meta but a character that can fit in the comp decently but not perfectly is ok play what you want.
Yeah I think you make a really good point. I feel like I managed to find a character I really like after playing everyone. It definitely helps if you have friends, as everyone kinda falls into position in a team.
As a brand new OW2 player this was really helpful :) I hope to hit Platinum one year from now, will come back if I do hit that rank. Written on OCTOBER 9TH 2022 Valorant was my first FPS and I got from Iron 2 to Immortal 1 after 1 year of playing...so hopefully I can do something similar in OW :) EDIT: October 12th, Yesterday I went crazy and I got 10 Play of the Games on all roles, tank (Orisa), DPS (Reaper, Sombra) and on support (Moira) EDIT: October 15th, Today I got placed in Silver 3 after my comp placements for DPS. I think this is the role I want to main :) EDIT: October 16th, technically its October 17th at 1am but I'll just count it as the 16th. I hit Silver 1 today EDIT: October 20th, I hit Gold 4 today...this journey may be faster than I expected...I talked to one of my top 500 friends and we have a mutual coaching agreement (I am in the top 0.03% of the League playerbase) EDIT: October 26th, I hit Gold 3! I havent' been playing too much recently as I've had to boost some people in League of Legends since its the end of the season for some extra cash...might have to grind more when League season ends EDIT: I hit Plat 5! I didn't make any updates because I completely forgot...in fact I made Plat 5 on two roles, both DPS and support! Wow, I'm legit surprised I did this way faster than I thought I would...
thank you for saying "cc ultimates--crowd control ultimates". some guides use abbreviations but don't explicitly state what they mean. although it may seem self-explanatory, as a beginner i struggle to figure out what many obvious abbreviations mean!! you know how to word things for newer players like me to understand
I began playing around 2 years ago. At the start I was a Sombra onetrick. Sombra's kit was appealing to me because it allows you to be more self reliant.
Same. Her hit and run like a ninja always stay in the dark playstyle appeals to me more than genji. Genji is more like a samurai with argressive playstyle
Been playing this game for the first time . Gotta say I love Reinhardt. Him charging into a enemy on Ilios and throwing em off the map was the most fun I have ever had from this game
I remember starting OW and trying to main Lucio because I liked being support but didn't want to be the basic gamer girl Mercy. A couple of years later, I'm a Mercy main. Sure, it's basic, but I love playing as her and I feel like because my aim is bad, her healing is much better for me than shooting
As someone who isn’t going to watch the video, don’t pick a main. I’ve been playing overwatch on and off for deadass half a decade now and I’ve had a lot of friends get the game. Something that I noticed after seeing the title of this video and thinking about it is that the only ones who still play the game to this day are the ones who play a bit of everything. Obviously everyone is going to have a favorite that they play more than the rest, but this game gets mind numbingly boring if you just throw counterplay completely out the window to tunnel vision one character. With that being said, it’s not like it matters much, there’s nothing to play for in this game without loot boxes and elo so most players are only going to get on when friends are on, in that sense I guess picking a main might kind of make sense, especially for team comp.
Loved the video, however something which I believe I have a better explanation for Main vs Flex support. In overwatch 1 I was a masters support who has played on a few teams. The explanition I would like to offer is: a Main support is a support which is able to peel for themselves and the other support, and the Flex support is unable to help their other support. For example lucio is both able to survive and protect his other support with his boop and speed abilities, where as ana can protect herself with her sleep dart, but is unable to protect a zen because all her abilities will get blocked by DM or a shield. I also believe this term (main and flex) was developed when Dive was extremely meta.
The tip you gave for going pro at sports at the beginning is kinda wrong cause if you want to go pro at boxing you would go do a but if ballet cause they are quite similar how you need to stay on your toes?
Now that you say this. I'm wondering if the role guide should be divided in type videos. E.g. Supporter with mobility vs supporters with positioning as a main method. I dunno, I'm new to the game so have no idea. But already tried Winston and Reinhardt and the difference was astonishing, then the same thing happened with Lucio and then Mercy. It's like they're the same class but completely different.
It's hard to properly divide because even among mobility characters there is so much different and variance. So many sub roles inside each role I do agree 🤝
@@coach_mills I see. Then maybe it is too complicated to just try and divide each sub category. Well, I figure you would know how to best approach it. Highly expecting that video.
i love genji, because i like fast paced chaotic playstyles. but other times i like more calculated playstyles and hanzo really fits my needs at those times. and they both have a delay in their projectiles which for some reason really attracts me.
Love the AoT sountrack remix in the background at the start of the video, absolute GOAT intro song! Great video too! Helped a lot, haven't touched the game since 2017 :P
Been playing OW1 for a while, but for some reason Junkrat is feeling really good for me in OW2. Maybe its because there are not alot of shields, but ive been able to get some sweet plays because I wasn't afraid to try out a hero I had previously dismissed
absolutely love Junk in ow2, he's my main DPS now. it seems that Blizzard added damage and changed the physics of his bombs, so now it's very effective to play him in any game
really educational video. I am new to overwatch and this video helped get me up to pace. Also, major appreciation for the music heard the Neon Genisis Evangelion theme and started singing unintentionally 😂
speaking on the whole "supports aren't healers" point you made as a masters Moira main, myself. I'd like to talk specifically what Moira can do outside of just heal. Moira is a FANTASTIC duelist. if you see an opportunity to sneak up on a squishy target and your abilities are up you can get very easy kills just by simply using your damage orb and primary attack at the same time particularly in small rooms where the orb can bounce around. I by no means encourage you abandon your team to go on a wild escapade but if you see the opportunity to get the pick and know you aren't needed for the next few seconds then it can be a great play. If things get dicey it's easy to use her teleport ability to escape or dash to a midkit and finish the job. Moira also does healing over time to her allies allowing you to fully heal them and continue healing them as they take damage without the need of constant attention. lastly, when you use your ultimate with her make sure you're hitting as many targets as possible both ally and enemy and specifically target the enemy squishies since you'll be able to kill them yourself without much problem in a single use of the ultimate making their take a not very serious threat. Hope this helped.
Hey everyone, anyone who's new who's looking to play roadhog. One big tip I can give to you is try and hook the enemy healer. Not only will you be able to pick them off or maybe your team mates. It interrupt them from healing their own team. A good hook can honestly change the tides of a game. Anyways have fun and keep experiment from an Old school Roadhog main 🤙
I agree. Eliminating a healer by hooking them can turn the tide of a battle. - A Mercy main who has watched their team get wiped seconds after I die from being hooked
I would like to use roadhog and maybe even main him but normally i dont play tanks on games. Do you have Any tips for me on how to get better with roadhog and tanks?
@@sennareitsma9234 well my biggest tip with tanks is knowing what your role is and how it works. Tanks are usually people to be in the front line to protect allies and follow objectives. They have big amounts of health and decent damage. Most tanks are effective to close range to medium range. It's not a solo role that you chase an enemy with. It's a role to secure the objective and protect your healers. With Roadhog not much to say. Just get better with hooking and learn how to move.
@@potatogamerz3421 id have to disagree. Maybe if shes the only tank, but with junkerqueen its constant health regen at all times plus her golden armor. Her javelin spin is on a 6 second cooldown which is insane. Plus most of my games shes being pocketed by a mercy so it just makes it even harder to kill her
@@wigglydiggly8495 There can only be one tank, I just either swap to someone like soldier or bastion who can melt here health really fast, symm because her beam is strong against her or someone to easily take out the pocket.

Question: Is it good that I often heal a my teammate who’s being dived on when flick between heal and amplification? I do this especially with Reaper, Cassidy and such.
Personally I would like to see a video on the counter system between classes. I would say the most important thing for noobs to learn is how the counter-classes work and who they are. If the enemy team is countering your Widow with a Winston then you're better off switching than trying to just break the counter with pure skill (which almost never happens). Especially with the influx of new people, i'm seeing way too many people get smashed into the dirt because they're either too stubborn to switch or simply don't know they should.
Honestly the best way to enjoy the game is find your own main in each class. Of course, attackers are usually more fun than every other class but the queue time will be higher so its more worth it to have a main in the other 2 classes that you enjoy but ever few games you play an attacker
I really wish Overwatch would at least split up Damage into the sub-categories most characters fit into which is DPS and Flank (a.k.a. Paladins style) I've seen too many Reapers and Tracers with the launch of OW2 religiously sticking to the front-lines alongside their tank and actual DPS such as a Soldier.
Definitely agree on that sens part, every hero archetype requires a different mouse sens, cause coming as an Apex and Val player, having low sens in genji is asking for carpal tunnel
I just started playing for the first time and I’ve been having a lot of fun with Pharah. Her mobility is nice just jet packing all over the map and using the boost to escape is clutch and if u hit ur shots it’s not bad. No one seems to talk about Pharah much so I guess I feel kinda cool lmso. Prob cuz she can get countered but my movement saves me a lot of the time
Pharah is fun and really strong if you learn to play her well. Her concussion blast is great for quick movement to dodge enemy shots, or to boop people out from cover so you can shoot them :) If u want any tips let me know, been playing her since 2016 with around 400 hours on her
@@maikeru5485 I will list a few, in a queue of priority: 1) Spam rockets in choke points (narrow areas in the map where enemies are likely to move through). This makes it difficult for enemy teams to push forward, and you can do this from a safe distance. 2) A rocket deals 120 damage on direct hit, so most DPS and Support heroes will die to 2 direct shots. You should therefore rarely focus tanks. If you have good aim with her rockets, you can fight enemies up close and quickly eliminate them, especially if you get the jump without them expecting you (also called Pharah's assassination playstyle). 3) When you use her flight fuel (jump key activated), you should tap it instead of holding it until the fuel runs out. By tapping it, you can hover in the air for much longer and maintain height unti your Jump Jet ability becomes available again. I would recommend for every second of fuel use, you give half a second of break, and then when your character starts falling down you tap again and rince repeat. This is a slightly difficult task to get good with, but it's absolutely necessary to improve with her over time. Good Pharah players can stay in the air infinitely - and even gain height over time if done to perfection. But this takes a lot of practice to get down, so start practicing early and you'll get the hang of it :) 4) It's tempting to jump into the air and fight, but be careful with doing it out in the open. You should try to be in the air when you can be close to roof tops, walls, and other natural map barriers that you can use for defense. Otherwise enemy heroes like Soldier or Widowmaker will easily shoot you out of the sky. 5) You can fly anywhere you like, so you should try to always attack from the side or above, instead of attacking from the same direction as the rest of your team. This will make it easier to get good attack angles on the enemy supports, which are the heroes you should try to focus down as often as possible. So don't be afraid to fly over rooftops and be behind enemy lines, just maintain some discipline and either attack from a safe distance, or be so up close that the enemy won't have time to react before you eliminate them. A good Pharah is one that you can't fight fairly. 6) The Concussion blast ability is great to quickly move yourself around the map when you're in danger/being attacked. This should be your primary use of that abiilty, to dodge enemy fire or quickly get out of the way if the enemy team is running at you. 7) When you use her ultimate Barrage, you're stuck in the sky and easy to kill. So you should always try to either use it from behind the enemy where they don't expect you, or from cover where you aren't exposed to a lot of enemy attack angles. It's great to get a team wipe, but realistically in most cases just getting 1 or 2 kills is great value as long as you survive. I would say just practice one or two of these points at a time, no need to do everything at once :) Practice makes perfect, so just get out and do your best :) I have an old montage video of my own Pharah play back from earlier days in OW1. It's a little old but it kinda shows a lot of the points I highlight in this comment, you're free to check it out if you want: th-cam.com/video/PBFRObJtbAg/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=MISTERSIR

@@christianjimenez1684 I think he could've been a little bit more specific with this example and just explained abilities like Sigma's Kinetic Grasp, Dva's Matrix, and Orisa's Javelin Spin as damage mitigation abilities, which are similar to shields but with different renewability. Shields have a limit to how much damage can be blocked before breaking, damage mitigation abilities like those moreso have a time limitation, either by duration or cooldown timer.
When choosing being a tank, dps or support you should be able to use more than one character just cuz there will be characters that can contest yours so it's good to be flexible
give her a shot! she's pretty decent value as long as you're familiar with the support role or can aim projectiles very well. i'm pretty bad at aiming but i'm still doing well on her (around 50% winrate) just based on healing/suzu alone and no one has flamed me (yet). plus i feel like everyone understands anyone playing the new hero won't be an expert with them right off the bat
I think that kiriko in ranked is the scariest thing you can face. Pretty much the best way to get value out of her is to hit headshots consistently. So if you go up against her, all she needs is 2-3 shots in the span of a second and you're dead before could start walking up to her to fight. And in ranked, if you can't hit headshots, you probably aren't playing her, so you are going to see more headshot god kirikos instead.
Similar with Hanzo, I play him a lot and he’s super fun and I love landing head shots for seemingly no reason. I’m clearly good at playing him or I wouldn’t keep one shotting people the whole time but I always feel like every head shot was just luck, super fun and scary to face tho
I still don't know how to feel about the change to 5v5 with only one tank. 50% of matches it feels better the other 50% feels idk dull or something of the chaos is missing
I'm a returning player, but never played super seriously. I like playing support, but was never really in love with any of the support heroes, so I would go back and forth between playing tank and support, never really settling on a main. That changed with Kiriko. She's got the mobility to keep up with players who push hard in that she can teleport through shit, it's really fun getting long range kills with the kunai, and the charm works on yourself, so you have a get out of death free card if you sandbag it hard enough. I just need to work on not letting myself get surrounded when my team gets wiped because there is no crowd control with Kiriko.
As a widow main, I can say that at some point, I didn’t want to play her at first because she was too hard and became a genji main. I can now play both heroes well but wish I had tried to play widow sooner.
as a new player to overwatch with just over 7 hours of playtime, i think im getting to the stage where im narrowing down to the heroes a i like, with me cycling between about 6-7 heroes that i can play well and that i also like.
I play dva and soldier 76 but mainly dva right now. As dva I like to run in, use the special gun ability move then regular guns then fly away. As soldier I like to sit on a rooftop and pick off some kills with helix then heal with the healing ability
Really like Ashe but doesn't seem to be puttin out much cuz of all the shields nd with the speed people move around in the game (lemme know if u have any extra tips)
Ashe is pretty good against comps that aren't very dive-heavy. Look for ways to apply ranged damage (pressure) on the enemy's supports/DPS (the backline) whenever the enemy team is occupied dealing with your team (the timing of your pressure is crucial). Make sure when you are trying to find areas to shoot behind the enemy shields, you keep your coach gun available for escape. Dynamite is nice for pressuring the backline as well, builds bob quickly as well. Hope this will help!
I suck at aming and when to much happens on the screen I can’t tell what’s happening and I die all the time. I’m trying to be a support but I keep dying so I can’t help my team
So far, I found the heroes I enjoy most are: Junker queen, Winston, Ashe, Brigitte, Sojourn, Widowmaker, Junkrat, Pharah and Baptiste. I mostly lean on Brigitte, Ashe, and Winston, though, as "mains" since I have lots of fun with them, and i am fairly versatile in helping teams win usually with.
Honestly I’m just a role main, technically I main Moira but like I just want to be good at the support role. I’m not looking to the tippy top tier but I do wanna improve. I wanna be a flexible support that can optimally play all 8 heroes depending on the situation
I hadn’t played Overwatch in like a year and then when overwatch 2 dropped I hopped back on. And it like all felt different. I played a bunch of different heroes and played Reinhardt for the first time. He’s my new main now I highly recommend just trying all the heroes out once because they’ve changed and maybe the hero that fits you has too

No need. we know what the deal is.
This will ofc take time depending on each rank, but ultimately you can still look at it like this:
Main support: Enables the core value of your team comp (be it sustain, dive potential, rush potential, etc)
Off/Flex support will enable those core values to reach their highest potential, or help negate enemy advantages that are directly challenging your main win conditions.
@@Real_MisterSir Lucio is not a main support. He's a flex support.
The true meaning of the terms are these:
"Main hero" = hero that is vital for the core win condition of the team
"Flex hero" = hero that can be interchanged to unlock/counter various advantages/disadvantages

It is hard. I have played ow2 since octomber and i still cant find my main
Never played overwatch before, mainly a battlefield 3&4 player with a bit of cod, this type of game, both it being mainly non ads and a hero/mobaish shooter is completely new to me so these vids are really helping
I'm still in the process of unlocking and trying new characters and roles but I love the idea of really getting familiar enough to understand the ins and outs of a character and role, from all the mobility tricks to being able to time that specific projectile perfectly etc
Then also then getting to know other characters and roles to get an idea of how to counter them or play them too when needed
So much potential depth to team comp and strategy, I'm trying to find a balance atm between learning the characters and how to play them but also just jump on the game and have fun till I get more of a feel for the gameplay so yeah, thank you these are going to be a huge learning resource and subbed
Similar and surprised how much I'm enjoying it - the objective base makes it really clear what to do and do. Lots of characters but enough shooters to start with.
Best characters for you learn the fundamentals of the game would be
Reaper but if you have good aim any hitscan character will be good except widow bcz you’ll be flamed.
As a vet this was awesome to read, glad you’re enjoying it! Let me know if you wanna get some games in!

In every single class based game, I always play as a tank. I love Orisa, but I've been having a LOT of fun with Junker Queen.

Yup mee to
speaking on the whole "supports aren't healers" point you made as a masters Moira main, myself.
I think there's plenty of people that know that lmao. I feel like half the time moira is used as a dps
If your DPS matches your heals then you're playing Moira properly. Also with her poison orb you should be getting loads of assists.
this is why I like to play mystery hero’s, I can get a chance to play every character without having to pick
Unraveled in the background is a nice touch, good video.
Hey everyone, anyone who's new who's looking to play roadhog. One big tip I can give to you is try and hook the enemy healer. Not only will you be able to pick them off or maybe your team mates.

In ow2 (at least now) other classes not so different. Tanks are basically fat dps already and healers can play very aggressive.
My stupid idea was to start by playing a lot of Mystery Heroes and analyzing my stats, then taking that info into Training, QP, FFA, etc etc.

Good video, just wondering why you said “let’s go through the healers 1 by 1” and stopped after half of them
Genji is definitely my main due to his mobility, range of attacks, and deflects
I really wish Overwatch would at least split up Damage into the sub-categories most characters fit into which is DPS and Flank (a.k.a. Paladins style)
I've seen too many Reapers and Tracers with the launch of OW2 religiously sticking to the front-lines alongside their tank and actual DPS such as a Soldier.
omg your so busy bouncing between ow and val vids, great work
Definitely agree on that sens part, every hero archetype requires a different mouse sens, cause coming as an Apex and Val player, having low sens in genji is asking for carpal tunnel
Her concussion blast is great for quick movement to dodge enemy shots, or to boop people out from cover so you can shoot them :)
If u want any tips let me know, been playing her since 2016 with around 400 hours on her
@@Real_MisterSir hey, got any tips for an aspiring pharah main?
@@maikeru5485 I will list a few, in a queue of priority:
1) Spam rockets in choke points (narrow areas in the map where enemies are likely to move through).
But this takes a lot of practice to get down, so start practicing early and you'll get the hang of it :)
4) It's tempting to jump into the air and fight, but be careful with doing it out in the open.
I would say just practice one or two of these points at a time, no need to do everything at once :)
Practice makes perfect, so just get out and do your best :) I have an old montage video of my own Pharah play back from earlier days in OW1. It's a little old but it kinda shows a lot of the points I highlight in this comment, you're free to check it out if you want:

Shields have a limit to how much damage can be blocked before breaking, damage mitigation abilities like those moreso have a time limitation, either by duration or cooldown timer.

Hmmmm, maybe - How to COUNTER every Hero - where I go into good and bad matchups for each hero
@@coach_mills yeah that sounds great also just subbed cause I really enjoyed the video
Reaper is a good hog counter
I can now play both heroes well but wish I had tried to play widow sooner.
great video, also loved the anime instrumentals you used, nice touch
I’ve played overwatch for since Friday (so I’ve had it for 3, but been able to play for 2). And I already know I’m a hardcore junker queen main.
as a new player to overwatch with just over 7 hours of playtime, i think im getting to the stage where im narrowing down to the heroes a i like, with me cycling between about 6-7 heroes that i can play well and that i also like.
@@MinnVictus thanks alot 👍🏻
I suck at aming and when to much happens on the screen I can’t tell what’s happening and I die all the time. I’m trying to be a support but I keep dying so I can’t help my team
I only just heard the cruel angel's thesis in the background, nice
This is easily the best primer for the overall strategies of the game and roles I’ve found..
I just downloaded O2, this is really helpful! Thank You!
Bro, it took me way too long to realise you had the Neon Genesis Evangelion theme playing in the background
Honestly I’m just a role main, technically I main Moira but like I just want to be good at the support role. I’m not looking to the tippy top tier but I do wanna improve. I wanna be a flexible support that can optimally play all 8 heroes depending on the situation
I feel the same way. I want to be good at kiriko and supports in general
That’s the way to be, having one woeful main means if you get countered you have nothing to fall back on.
I decided on sombra since she released and now that I can play for free I just need to unlock her
super important to play all heros to understand them and how to play vs them
you win for the evangelion theme song in the background 🔥🔥🔥
I feel like Torbjörn or Ashe is perfect for me but in the mean while ill main Thorbjorn considering im kinda new to Overwatch.
Returning player here.
Went with the dive style.
Genji, doomfist and kiriko
Coach mills: what is space...
Capt Picard: space the final frontier....
what was the song that started playing at 4:58 also good vid helped a lot
I hadn’t played Overwatch in like a year and then when overwatch 2 dropped I hopped back on. And it like all felt different. I played a bunch of different heroes and played Reinhardt for the first time. He’s my new main now I highly recommend just trying all the heroes out once because they’ve changed and maybe the hero that fits you has too
Subbed for the sole reason that you have lofi unravel in the vid
