When a bus driver in Milwaulkee, Wis., saw a child walking around by herself, she knew something was up. Tiffani Lee thought the girl might be lost, so she pulled over and brought her aboard. She stayed with her while waiting for police to respond. The Milwaulkee County Transit System says the girl told the officer she lived nearby but didn't know how to get home. I drive a medical transportation bus non-emergency and I came across an accident. in a small town in Minnesota and car after car after car just kept going by so I pulled over. I called 911 and I found out no one called 911 but me and I asked the driver of the vehicle. how long have they been sitting on the side of the road in this mangled mess. And she said for about 10 minutes people suck. I would sure hope if anybody came across an accident they would assist immediately. Especially if it deals with children.

When I was in Kindergarten, I got on the wrong bus home; I didn't realize this until the bus stopped and I got off. I remember crying, looking around for a familiar face or house. A nice lady saw that I was upset and asked if I would like to call my mom from her house (No cell phones, this was in '82). I didn't know my address, but thank goodness my mom made me memorize our phone number.

Jade Bonifacio nowadays people in the US get their kids confiscated for letting them ride a bus alone, and not just at kindergarten age but much older, too. the fear of kidnappers has gotten so pervasive that letting kids be outside without adult supervision is considered serious neglect. the US takes this way too far, but I gotta say, having a kindergarten kid ride buses alone sounds kinda nuts to me.
