- Video shows the dramatic moment a police officer discovered a three-year-old girl sitting alone in a dark parking lot, hours after she was taken in a stolen car. Caraline Leon-Alcocar was inside her mother's vehicle in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but when her mom got out run a quick errand, a thief jumped into the vehicle and took off, police said. After hours of searching, Caraline was found just after 1 a.m. by Officer Chris Poccia and the moment was captured on his lapel camera. #InsideEdition

To all those saying bad things about the mother: I live in Albuquerque. I remember this story. The mother had pulled up in front of a store and was 3 feet away filling water jugs when the car was stolen. She did not leave her child in the car in a parking lot as she ran errands inside, as the video suggests. Now you know!
Really then why didn't she find her kid... and why was she on the phone(her and her husband) talking to the deputy, instead of one of them actually having an eye on her... that's just sad neither one of them is a good parent... come on man stop it.
The keys were left nmin the car or did he manage to start it himself?

Yup. Back when I was a kid the advice me and my cousins had was that if we ever get lost or separated (which never happened thank goodness) from the grownups is that we return to the place where we know they would go (the parking lot where the vehicles were parked or the police station which they pointed us the locations just in case, etc) and never go with someone no matter how convincing they were.
It wouldn't have happened to us since almost all the grownups in our extended fam kept an eye on the kids and we as kids were too scared to wander off but it was still a possibility.
So even though it was cold, and she felt really lost, atleast she was found by the cops. Such a good girl, though I felt really bad because she almost froze to death.

It should be illegal to leave a child alone in your car like that while you run errands. I would never leave my child alone in a car for a second. I’m not saying that this parent should go to jail for years but there needs to be some consequences for doing this. There’s so many parents that do this and don’t think nothing of it.

The mom didn't go into a store. She was filling water jugs outside the building. The car was feet from her when someone jumped in and took off. I am sure she will always get her kiddo out now but it wasn't as obvious as the video implies.
