TV Show Openings Suck Now

- With the release of Netflix’s adaption of One Piece, the opening titles pale in comparison to the fun compilation from the anime in which it’s based.
But so many TV shows have disappointing or phoned in opening credits that don’t do justice to the show. Here I look at some examples of the weak openings, compared to some genuinely great introductions and what makes them special. I have a bit of dig at Netflix and marvel here, but, who doesn’t nowadays anyway? - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
The opening sequence for Severance is one of the most memorable openings in my opinion. Great music and visuals. I also gained more respect for the intro after finishing the first season, you start to notice details and symbolism you hadnt before. Its a masterclass in tv show intros
Haven't seen the show, but that is a good one. Very bizarre, a good example of an intro that is fully animated but still interesting
The xfiles opening is so perfect, the show following it rarely captures the same paranormal mood even when said show is a really good one.
The xfiles, sherlock, good omens, and what we do in the shadows opening are so good.
That's a good one, I immediately remembered the soundtrack as soon as I read the name
I disagree about the Walking Dead sequence. Not everything has to be successive flashy imagery to convey a feeling and it is a feeling of solemnity, destitution and drought to the aftermath of the invasion that its frozen imagery tells very well in stillness. The pace is extremely successful in communicating the dread, and a breath of fresh air to be honest, at a time when all we have is seizure inducing visuals. There’s nothing “low budget” about the thought and concept behind the result. It’s obvious to me they thought it out despite its simplicity.
May I suggest Police Squad! as one of the best openings? Love the channel, keep it up!
Long time no see, glad to see you back!
I appreciate you sticking around. I started a new job a few months ago which has taken up most of my time
@@onwardsandupwards547 I wish you all the best in your new job! Just no stress!
I like daredevil and jessica one op but dont remember other ops for marvel netflix shows. I like how in anime doesn't really suffer from this even today, in fact anime op's could be their own art forms
Thoughts on the Outlander intro (season 1)?
The Practice's intro is iconic. 😉
neon genesis evangelion intro 🔛🔝
Can i have your thoughts on the American Gods opening?
Not one I'm familiar with. The visuals and editing are very good, although I wouldn't say the music is very memorable. But it's one of the better animated openings
The Pacific might have been ass, but it had a great intro.
I like police dramas like CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds, etc. And they have nice opening, only using clips from the shows, a good song, and the title texts, you may call that lazy, however, they actually show you who are the main characters, which actor is which, and give you a glimpse of what to expect, but recently, they've been embracing the horrible sample text big Title, and it sucks, it's boring, you're not telling me anything, if I hadn't watch the trailer, or read the description, I wouldn't know.
Those openings work if they are done well. Friends had titles for all the actors.
I think those openings were more common a one or two decades ago, less so nowadays
MONKEYDUST. That's all I'm saying.
My favourite from the last few years is probably Severance. Both the visuals and the music.

I'm sorry but I had to stop watching when you started to diss the Daredevil opening. It rules.
The openings to animation are usually pretty damn solid; Samurai Jack, Daria, Adventure Time, Ed Edd & Eddy, The World of Peter Rabbit & Friends, so on and so forth. Probably because it's not shipped of to some other 3rd party to be made, like with live action shows, but made in-house by the very people who crafted the series from the beginning.
My favourite is probably Mission Hill's opening; that show was nigh perfect and I'll never forgive WB for cancelling it before giving it a proper chance.
Ah, and on daredevil opening, I actually thought it was clever, because to me it shows what the blind hero sees; things get revealed as they're hit by the blobs (of sounds).
