    I made this today for lunch and it was so delicious. I never used to add oil or hot water and both these ingredients made a HUGE difference. Thank you very much and now this is how I will be making ever:) I did grate a small carrot and added and the rest is all as per your recipe.

    I add ragi and soyabean flour to the normal wheat flour to make everyday rotis. Very healthy and nutritious, and doesn't reflect in the taste!

      Not only in karnataka even Pahari People in Uttrakhand and Himachal can't leave without it. We called it Mandua and use it as a normal flour for making chapatis daily it's traditional food there. But we don't use so much oil. Just Mandua roti with Ghee/butter and Saag(green leafy curry) or only with mint chutney made with himalayan rock salt.

    This much oil..butter.. coconut chutney cannot be diabetic friendly..alternatively you can roast the ragi flour and then prepare the dough..so that roti doesn't require too much oil to get cooked..combo of without coconut added chutneys will be diabetic friendly.. kindly ensure what you post for the people who don't know about proper diet..And am a Dietitian..so I request you to post clearly about diet..thank you

      You'll have to wait until it cools down.
      Tip: Put lots of water and it'll cool down within seconds.
      Pro Tip: Make Akki rotti that way, it'll taste great.

      If Banana leave is not available for the first method itself, U could use a clean cotton fabric, pat the rotti on the cloth and then transfer it to the tava.. Safe and easy to clean..

    Ma'am only this recipe is good n specifically healthy if u use less oil... otherwise it is the unhealthiest roti....not recommended for diabetic or anybody else

    Adding oil and hot water to the dough really made a difference. The rottis cooked well and were more tastier.

    How about rolling the dough between two sheets of banana leaves and peeling off the top one....why to do so much of thapad thapad unnecessarily.

    Ragi Roti on tawa n banana leaf so nice. For 2nd type tawa will be normal temp for first roti but how to do when tawa will be hot at time of putting second ragi roti

    It's too oily , breakfast should be with less oil I feel , that aside it's good , u can use cow ghee for better iron absorption from ragi 😊

      Yes you can use butter paper as well... i use butter paper also i do not add oil as it releases the butter paper with ease.. very little oil on the tawa cuts a lot of calories that way.. 🙂

    Ragi is good..but high in glycemic index if diabetic eat small portions it’s ok. Otherwise it’s going to spike their sugar levels
