Making of Jowar roti is an art, good effort! The best way to make it is by seeing and learning from women of northen part of Karnataka! They make really large breads, by hitting with fingers and palm. And do not steam it either. Jowar roti is really addictive, delicious.
great way to make jowar roti in India it is easy but i try lots off ways that broke on the tava this way is good and even comes out very thin, you did a very good job i am impressssss very much.....
Good effort. However the real OG's know that the dough has to be kneaded longer. I knead mine for 10 minutes and get a good arm workout and the roti in the end is just, so utterly beautiful, soft yet pliable. I shape them directly in my hands into a medium circle then transfer to the counter and shape it with my hands into a giant circle. My mum-in-law and eldest aunt taught me how to make them and after a few months of practice every single day I NAILED IT 😎 I show off this skill everywhere 🤣 I would make so many for practice sake and stuff everyone's tummies with it 🤣 It's a shame I can't find that same beautiful jowar flour in Canada 😔 My hands miss making those rotis so much, especially during winters shallow frying them like a paratha and devouring it with fresh malai, honey and chai. Nice attempt though and appreciate her efforts. Happy to see that Shilpa Mam is promoting our healthy Indian food. Traditionally Jowar Roti is prepared without salt, oil and steaming process. One has to knead the dough with lukewarm water and prepare roti by patting with hands.. Don't apply oil while cooking roti. If you want to have ghee or makhan just apply on the hot roti while serving. This is a very healthier option prepared traditionally.
If floyrvis fresh knead well with plain water no oil or ghee inside but apply once roti is done. You can add 1 cup flour in 1 cup hot water n mix after a minute but knead well this is important. Now take a thick plastic n roll on that a well kneaded flour ball with the help of dry atta. Knead everything you take a dough ball to roll. The four side should be on top on tawa n apply water Lil n keep medium flame n turn after a second now second side completely done n again turn 1st side on tawa. It will puff. Now apply ghee once removed. Very easy.

Over the years due to much more production of wheat and hence cheap prices wheat's consumption started. Wheat is tasty and hence addictive as compared to other grains that is why people preferred wheat over other grains, but Indians were healthy because they were eating jowar, bajra, Jai, makka earlier. Thank God I have myself switched to these grains instead of wheat roti.

If make the atta with garlic ,adarak ,chilli and curd or butter milk it will make these rotis super tasty....My grand mom's recipe
What we make are lightly round, fluffs up on tawa and super soft.. all this without a single drop of oil or ghee...
