    Nice try, but the camera is too close and shaky to have any idea of where are things being done... :(

    Put rear speakers in my 1997 Buick Regal GS, and used this video to remove seats. Not the best vid but did the trick for me. Kinda sucks u have to go thru all this just to replace the rear speakers as the speaker grills wont come off unless u want to damage them. Thanx for the vid.

    My century is an 02 also. All of my factory speakers were held in with a 1/4 in. Socket. I replaced my 6x9s with adapters and some 6.5 in. woofers I had laying around.

    You didn't even show how you remove the cover over the speaker

    in my 04 century they're not torx screws, they're quarter inch bolts. probably better since i don't think there is enough clearance to the windshield to use a screwdriver. would suggest checking before ordering a torx set. i did not have to do anything to remove the speaker covers. they're just sitting in place. i think they may have been screwed in from underneath at some point, but not anymore. all of the mounts for screws are broken. these covers are extremely brittle fragile from the sun. i think i might try sealing them with flex spray to help them last longer and be a bit sturdier but i've never used the stuff before so don't believe me on that one.

      When a screw is to close to the glass you can use a 90° adapter for the torx bits or and bits

    I've gotten past the part where I need to remove the 3 black pins (wow was it a challenge), but I can't lift the carpeting with the speaker grilles up and remove them. There is something holding it down. I didn't find the screws you were talking about in the video? Can you let me know where they are? The carpeting doesn't even lift up enough for me to have a good look. Thanks. I have a 2000 Century. edit: I forgot to update this comment but you must remove the plastic panels covering the C pillar. You need to get a trim prying tool with a claw on it and use the claw to pull out the circular pins on the pillars at the top of them, then there are a few pins inside the pillar so you pull the panel away from the pillar and they just snap off, then the panels just lift out (they have pegs at the bottom that hold the carpet it place). Be careful not to tear the headliner because if you aren't careful the sharp edge of the plastic pillar can tear them. These pins are very hard to remove. If you break them they are just the headliner pins so look for Buick century headliner pin/retainer on eBay to replace them. Don't forget that in the trunk under the third brake light there is also a clip that just unclips. this also holds the carpet in place.

      I put the solution in the original comment if you are interested

      But I would like to mention that I just watched a video. Apparently you can pry up on the speaker grilles carefully and remove them, but they are very brittle and can break. th-cam.com/video/vcSyz8JF7nU/w-d-xo.html

    So is there a way to fold the seats from the trunk I locked the keys in there

    Do you remember what "GM Adapter" you used? Product/part number? Specific brand, etc?

    I’m dizzy. But is there not any access to the speakers through the trunk? Also, don’t the rear seats fold so removing the seats completely is unnecessary? My regals seats fold 60/40 so it makes it easier to change out the back speakers from what I’m understanding

      Unfortunately no the century the speakers are enclosed and the trunks also sealed from the cabin

      i can get to the speaker harness connector through the trunk in my 04 century. just have to pull all the upholstery down. it's tucked up inside the top of the trunk.

    Installing the back seat on is not going very well. The back support part doesn't go in the holes firmly. Do you have any suggestions?

    How do I remove the deck cover mesh grilles? They are super brittle and I cracked one taking it off, it won’t pop back on, and now I don’t wanna take off the other one because I don’t want exposed speakers that’s ugly

    I'm replacing the speaker covers on my 2005 Century since mine have cracked from the sun and time. Do they just pop on and off? I have one completely off because it just crumbled when I tried to move it. I see little holes around the opening and the new covers have small posts.

      I am wanting to replace one of mine that has a crack to. It seems the plastic GM used really gets brittle being exposed to the sun in the rear window. I went to the junk yard today to see if I could figure it out because I also needed new covers for my child seat latches in the speaker covers as they also get brittle and the clips snap right off as you try to take them out or put them back in. I pulled a speaker cover out in a junked car figuring it just snaps in and I saw that it has posts (that just snap off if you're plastic is brittle like the one in this car) that are held in place with speed nuts from the underside. So basically you would have to loosen the carpeting cover on the package shelf enough to get under there and unscrew the speed nuts (not sure if they thread on or are just a friction fit). It may just be as easy to replace the package shelf if you can find a nice clean one. I will probably go to the junkyard again after seeing this and see if I can get further into it but it may very well be to much hassle for one small crack and I'll live with it. After all I've had the car since last November and I just noticed it today! My OCD likely won't let me forget though LOL

    Can you just strip the wires and connect them without the adapter?

    • @Gonzy1122
      @Gonzy1122 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. As long as you have the proper connectors to the speaker(s) you can do whatever you'd like.

  • @sonikkuffffff

    also guys you don't have to take the backseat off. i haven't done this job yet but i see no real reason to take off the back seats. those three flush plastic clip things are the same as the ones you have to remove from the exterior hood to get to your cabin air filter in the front and they absolutely suck to take off. i just broke it. don't take your seats off. just pull the upholstery back in the trunk your speaker harness is right there.

  • @chrislawson7953
    @chrislawson7953 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Why pull the seat out? Just take speaker cover off and replace speaker!

    • @tyler2610
      @tyler2610 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If you want to do it the right way without breaking the covers. He ended up breaking them anyway (I’m assuming) as these have speed nuts on the inside attaching them to the package tray and are almost impossible to remove without snapping the plastic studs that hold them in place as this plastic gets very brittle being in the sun all the time and it doesn’t help that GM put the nuts in backwards for some reason so you can’t use a socket to remove them. One of mine has a crack in it and I’d like to replace it but I assume I would probably cause more damage trying to replace it. I have tried to take a couple off cars in the junkyard and they always end up breaking in the process.

    Broooooo that speaker ain't drawing 400w from factory speakers... you need an amp.

    • @travisb7797

      It's a Boss so it says 400w max but the RMS is probably 25w with a CEA rating of eleventeen.
