I think that the bearing should be mounted upside down. Because the forces cums from the opposite way.

The tapered roller bearing WAS inserted upside down.

When I have been in a situation where by I did not have a grease press, I would put a bunch of grease on the heal of my hand and force it into the bottom end of the bearing until it squeezed out between the rollers and the cage. Roll the bearing and force more grease in. Than you know the grease has thoroughly penetrated all the space of the race, rollers and cage. Dirty job but it will same your bearing.

you need to pack the grease in the bearing not just rub it on it that is not the way to pack a bearing the grease must beforced through the bearing through pressure

You installed the taper roller bearing the wrong way around. And didn't grease the bearing properly.

You really need to learn how to pack a bearing. Just smearing grease on it, it's going to fail real fast
