Great job Steve, I really like your engraving work, and thanks for the cold bluing tips, I am starting to use that stuff on everything nowadays, cheers mate !
After the magpie flies off if you listen carefully you can hear a woman on a bike in the distance screaming"noooooo! Get it off get it of!!!!" Beautiful creatures.
You must have been a jeweler in a previous life? Also I have in mind to make a live center with a very narrow tip. Using a smaller shaft and thrust roller bearings on the end. I want it to be the same size as a dead center. But alas so many projects piled up, don't know when I will get to it.
You can buy a live center set 7 inserts. I got mine from hare & Forbes also known as machinery house in Australia. It is I think Taiwanese , good quality and has a real fine point insert $165 ,might be an alternative? cheers
Ohhh... I'm such a dumb arse. Out of nearly 2000 views Yr the only one to point that out, well done. Sorry Chinese suppliers... Oops haha thanks anthony
the insert screw gets turned from the bottom and then the steal spacer and insert push on the from the top as you tighten from the bottom the pulls together as it pulls down. (the bottom screw is reverse thread don't forget)
Nice build Steveodee! Great tip on using the polish with the Beachwood blue! I typically use 4 aught wool but even that will leave streaks for another coat. Where did you find that cage roller? Great fit and engraving, spot on! Yahtzee on the HSS bits for HR. Thanks for sharing.
Ohhhh... The penny just dropped, I've been agonising over the cage roller thing, is that what they're called?? Der... I harvested it from some machine I stripped years ago, dunno what. In hindsight I could have used a cup style bearing saving some time & machining. Sorry about my elderly confusion haha
@@stevohdee8118 I got that about the Silvo but sometimes even 4 aught steel wool will make it streaky...yours was beautiful. Sorry about the confusing term...it's what I've always heard them called. Looked to be a perfect fit for a repurposed bearing...even better! Been wanting one like this for a while now and like your design. Thanks again! Cheers mate. P.S. Nice finish off the mini on that hot rolled!

nice job, but the installation of the 2 bearings is wrong, external & internal races faces have relatively large tolerance of misalignement, therefore a spacer either b/w ext on inter races is required
The way you put the insert is wrong, the grey shim stays there and the gold insert goes on top of that grey insert and you shouldn’t remove the screw that are at the middle of the insert, the screw at the middle of the insert only take 1/4 or 1/2 turn to remove the insert.
Love your work, in particular your engraving !! perfection !
That engraving was sponsored by the Providence... This is a spectacular job...
WOW your engraving is flawless and your machining as well
K im here a little late.. Was that a toss with him using the insert seat as a cutter or..

Thanks howder, yeah bluing sure makes steel look kinda like a bought one I reckon, cheers
Very nice work sir
You do such great work. Thank you for sharing.
Superb demonstration. Thanks 👍

That's a beaut! Thanks for sharing.
Muita qualidade , gostei muito , Parabens
Obrigado, muito apreciado
beautiful work
The gold carbide but goes on top of the one you took off. That's why the stud sticks up above it. The big that come on the tool is a spacer.

@@stevohdee8118 your welcome. It took me a while to figure mine out.
@@anthonycash4609 what fooled me was the "spacer" cut as well as the insert! Haha
Ótimo trabalho amigo

Thanks Billy, mathan & Anthony beat u to it, dam thing had me fooled though haha
Nice pencil cad action, just like the pros :)
Cheers
Thanks Rick... I am a robot, lol
My Vegemite is usually blackish/brown, is that blueberry flavour you got there?
You know it took a minute to figure out what you're talking about... Der, the grease, haha got me

Hey pj thanks, the silvo is only for final finish, I didn't try between coats, & what's a cage roller? Cheers mate

Vegemite has soooo many uses. Never seen blue before though!
good on you mate 👍
Fantastic Job.
nice engraving skills
Thankyou
Great job , sir .. 🙏
nice job, but the installation of the 2 bearings is wrong, external & internal races faces have relatively large tolerance of misalignement, therefore a spacer either b/w ext on inter races is required
Thanks Marc, do you mean a spacer the entire width of the two deep groove bearings (26mm) or just between the internal races?
Regards stevoh
Hi , just b/w internal races will be ok, even thin spacer will work ! Rgds
why did he make the cone on belt sander why not on the lathe?????
To remove steel quicker
@@stevohdee8118 I don't think it's quicker, in fact!
