Remove the old glue? You know that glue is only millimeters thick and it’s not a layer it’s literally sprayed onto a porous material that’s made from a fiber composite, the only thing to be removed it’s the old vinyl and foam liner, which he did. Do you won’t in the industry? This was a good repair. The glue isn’t even what fails it’s the foam liner the vinyl is adhered to that fails.
@@sumitg18882Its not glue. You need to remove all of the old backing until you’re down to bare plastic, otherwise it will easily peel off again in the next 1-2 years
Mr Mario, I need your advice. Many seats that I take apart, mostly boat seats, don't have uniform seam allowances. Some seams are 1/4", some are 3/8, some are 1/2. How do you deal with this? Is it best to cut along the needle holes and then add 1/2"?
95% of the seat that I have takei it apart seem allowed are not the same .. i always give half inch extra .. some time after I put the top stitch I cut the excess material.. near the stitch
@@upholsterytips thank you so much. I've been feeling very down because I've been doing this for over a year on my own, and I seem to keep screwing up the basics. But, I didn't have a real-life mentor like you helping me. That's why I follow your videos so closely. Your help and feedback means a lot. You do beautiful work.. I wish mine was a tenth as good.
You should really run a strip of 1 inch tape around the trim first. Then add some 6 inch boarder paper. Use old notebook paper, whatever. Goof Off, is good on glue residue.
Why do you made this work without disassembly? It is not professional work with low quality in future…. It is very simple to disassembly door panel and divide for quality restoration… Lazy? 😅
I can’t lie I’ve never tried upholstery but this makes me want to give it a shot
So I been doing it the hard way this whole time lol
I take it all apart, I just learned a very important lesson
Those Mustangs give me so much work! Love seeing how other trimmers do it. Very cool video!
I would've removed the door panel and gotten all the work done on a table, and screwed back in place.
Love it.
SE mira muy facil bastante, presicion, buen trabajo ingeniero y gracias por el video. Saludos
👍
I doubt you will see this, but what is the material you put the new red upholstery on?

@@upholsterytips cool I've been doing some of my own stuff you should look at my channel
@@upholsterytips I think he meant the underlayment. Not the vinyl itself.
How much does this particular service cost, because my poor mustang suffers from the door panel leather killing itself as with 80% of these cars lol
