I’m a little confused by the written pattern and the video as it doesn’t start with the neckline it starts with the body. Is the body knitted flat not using magic loop? I started with magic loop and joined the body but couldn’t then understand the wrap and turn process as one side of the circle had several rows of knit whilst the other one didn’t. I’m not new to knitting but this is my first sweater knit in one and I’m! I’m used to knitting socks which are knitted tubular but I can’t make sense of how to start the pattern. The video shows it as a loop with the neckline but that’s confused me more as the neck rubbing isn’t where the pattern starts!

Thanks for this tutorial! The pattern says to pick up the w&t stitch when knitting/purling back and turning 2 past the last w&t stitch every turn. Does that mean that on my second pass, when I get to smB, I k1, m1L, k3 (to pick up w&t stitch), k2, w&t. Am I understanding correctly?

I think I am just not understanding the pattern. How do you go from the wrap and turn then you purl to the beginning of the round. Well, you have more than one marker. I am way too confused.

Hi Karen, Some of the wrap and turns will be followed by a purl row, and some will be followed by a knit row. The essence of the short row is that you are knitting a partial row, and then you turn the work around before that row is finished and purl back the way you came. I always find it helpful to have one type of marker for the beginning of the round, and a different type of marker for the short rows, just to make it easy to keep them in order.

I understand the wrap and turn process as shown in the video, but in the instructions, following every ‘w&t.’ Includes ‘ X sts inc.’ (X stitches included) (X being a number, eg. 3, 5… what does that mean? Thanks! :)

Hi there, and apologies for the delay!
While you are making your short rows, you are also making increases, and the 'X sts inc.' is letting you know how many sts have been increased for that particular short row.
