Took Kendrick 7 years to hit the mainstream (2011 is when his songs started playing on the radio), so if you ever think you won't make it big, be patient. Success is not instant.
Yeah, his high pitch voice like on the song maad city came from Lil Wayne. His other voice at parts of swimming pools is from Andre 3k. His C4 mixtape was a Wayne dedication. He has used many styles. He's pretty versatile.
True I didn't start until much later when he became popular, Kendrick and J.Cole are the only 2 popular current rappers I can stand to listen to. Most mainstream rappers these days are so auto-tuned you can't even understand them, even if you could they just rap about pure bullshit
Rappers like Kendrick shouldn't even be compared to trap (e.g., Migos, Lil uzi vert, 21 savage, etc.) because the different styles might as well be different genres of rap. But for some reason today our society appreciates club bangers rather than lyrical genius. Because of this fact we can't let rappers like Kendrick go unseen. Cheers!
Philip Dial Kendrick is charted higher than any trap song on billboard rn. He's gonna sell more records than any other Trap album has. people appreciate Kendrick more than trap rappers for sure.
This nigga been in the game for 13 years. Took him 5-6 years before he started seeing any real recognition. For all you wanna be rappers and haters who think he doesn't deserve this success.
fıиešše qυeeи he actually said in an interview when he first came out he would try to mimick artist like dmx and lil wayne so that he could "sound tough"
Gowd that 07 freestyle I didn't want it to stop holy shit. I started listening to him in 2009-2010'ish once Dr Dre was mentioned in his signing I was hype and happy as hell and he hasn't disappointed since. For fucks sake this man is a god damn idol his transition wasn't even needed from how great he was from the start... I'm watching this video amazed because of the grind he put in it's beautiful.
not true, he weared a dsquared sweater in the 2015 video, when he is flying in the air the graffiti shirt. Its a sweater of like 350 bucks, yall just dont know about the designer he wearing because it aint gucci or louboutins.
SilversteinRescue good kid maad city is the only one I've listened to in its entirety more than once. I didn't enjoy it. He walked on the beat instead of dancing on it. Music can be broken down to rhythm and melody. My favorite MCs always provided the melody with their verses over the rhythm provided by the beat. That's what I mean by walking vs dancing. The greats dance. K Dot walks. I don't want to call him a bad MC, because he's not. He's just not for me.
also left out what is arguably recognized as his "break-out hit" -Hiii Power. That track was also the anthem to his freshman album (section 80), same body of work that brought us ADHD
Johnathan russell honestly I'm very prepared. I already have the mindset and a ear for good music. I said that because it gives me hope to put out music even tho it's not as good as I want it yet
Cellus Christie shit, no Spiteful Chant, Backseat Freestyle, Hiipower, Hold Up, Barbed Wire ... Just too many good songs. This video would run all day otherwise.
Kendrick is a real artist. He never changed his style; he just evolved. I see so many wack "rappers" out here that style changed overtime, because it wasn't working out for them in the beginning. I should be able to tell it's you when I listen to your old shit *cough, cough, mumble rappers, cough, cough*
sorry if the verb I used doesn't sit well with you, but evolve can be used in a sense that's different from change. It means to progress, mature, develop, advance, etc. something that already exists.. You can't evolve the dirty dish-water into clean water by emptying out the sink and running new water, but you can change it, and a mammoth doesn't change into an elephant; it evolves into one. You see how that works?
This just proves that you can never give up on your dreams. No one knew who this guy was 10 years ago and now his past two albums alone make him a legend.
Fell in love with Kendrick in 09.. Kendrick Lamar EP was it for me.. had to go back and listen to Training Day & C4. Happy we let him in the rap game and allow him to preach real shit in a mainstream setting now. #DAMN

His voice has the idea of puberty completely backwards.
Hurrbet Nigga came out the womb sounding like James earl jones
Hurrbet that's that Benjamin button disease lol
Hurrbet lowered pitch to avoid the video taken down.
Great Artist know how to manipulate their voice to touch different sounds
Kendrick's natural voice is slighty raspy but not deep, but not extremely high either
every rapper sound like they in a basement whispering trying not to wake anybody up when they first start rappin
Timira Wilson because they are lol
Your comment made me chuckle, that was clever.
Timira Wilson usually cause thats whats going on. real
You know they recording in their room at midnight lol
nah delivery takes time. Timid until confidence comes
Took Kendrick 7 years to hit the mainstream (2011 is when his songs started playing on the radio), so if you ever think you won't make it big, be patient. Success is not instant.
TheHuskyK9 success is instant for mumble rappers like Lil Pump and Blueface
@@donathan2933 Which I think sounds stupid but they are just meme (mumble) rappers.
Anibal Osbaldo and to be honest man Kendrick supports these guys
That’s why he said “ u know careers take off, just gotta be patient” in element
@@donathan2933 Since I'm a Kendrick fan, I at least respect him.
He never gave up. Respect
You can literally see him humble up and the maturity progress as the years go on. At the same time though he looks more and more hurt.
Jupiter Stars exactly... inspiration
Brandon Jacobs .... FUCK YEAH
His old songs were good. But the new one...
Jupiter Stars “Careers take off, just gotta be patient”

You just saved my life, I was contemplating quitting
how is that his voice was deeper when younger lol
Javier Valdes puberty is a weird thing.
in this video they slowed some of his songs down so they wouldn't get copy righted I think
Brett Phillips the second song doesnt sound slowed down tho, that beat was going at normal speed
Yeah, his high pitch voice like on the song maad city came from Lil Wayne. His other voice at parts of swimming pools is from Andre 3k. His C4 mixtape was a Wayne dedication. He has used many styles. He's pretty versatile.
Clutch Cakes I thought kendrick caryer was better than the Carter 3
Kendrick started working with a good producer and he changed the game
I Feel Like Yeezus what was his old name
LeBron James K.Dot
I Feel Like Yeezus
Well yeah, his prod almost killed his dad.
Top Dog is the CEO of TDE not Kendricks producer. Still a very powerful song. My favorite producer on TDE is hands down SounWave
2004-7,2015-17 💖
Took him about 7 years to actually get noticed... now he's the best rapper alive 🔥
Scott Farrell . Is Drake dead? 🤔
He's always been the best rapper alive and it took more than seven years.
+Johnny Allen he started in 2004 but only started getting big buzz in 2011 when he released Section.80. That's 7 years.
Best rapper alive? What r u smoking?
Alive isn't the best way to word it but most of the ones who came before him fell off and right now he's better than Em or Nas or the Wu Tang guys etc
he's been rapping since 2004 and he still sound great
Mind peeping my recent lo-fi rhymes :)
mhm
not to mention the growth, he always changed it up each album
Jason Vodoff word thats why he's the best rapper
Mel B cuz hes growing up and learning
Almost everyone started fucking with Kendrick in 2011.
Carbon based life form Of African descent true for me lol
Carbon based life form Of African descent Fell in love with Section.80 the moment I heard it. Actually, Ab Souls Outro is my ringtone.
True I didn't start until much later when he became popular, Kendrick and J.Cole are the only 2 popular current rappers I can stand to listen to. Most mainstream rappers these days are so auto-tuned you can't even understand them, even if you could they just rap about pure bullshit
2012 was when i started listening to Kdot.

KYUN I agree with both statements
kendrick is the best trap rapper tho
dannio m kendrick doesnt trap tho
Asap T pretty sure most these trap rappers dont trap either
Philip Dial Kendrick is charted higher than any trap song on billboard rn. He's gonna sell more records than any other Trap album has. people appreciate Kendrick more than trap rappers for sure.
Hard to understand how people don't think he's the best current rapper.
Dude, even Ab-Soul raps better than Kendrick.
AFFE NOWU Considering noone even probably knows who ab-soul is..you're wrong.
AFFE NOWU No.
AFFE NOWU Soul is great, but not better than Kendrick.
Mason Moser he needa get back to he 2012 vibe , shit made the summer lit in 2013 now he jus making weird hits like loyalty and DNA .-.

This nigga been in the game for 13 years. Took him 5-6 years before he started seeing any real recognition. For all you wanna be rappers and haters who think he doesn't deserve this success.

Makaveli Oh yes, you have a video of "How Tupac is still alive" ... hip-hop music scene conspiricy theorist alert...

His voice was deeper when he was younger 😂😂 how does that work
He switched up his flow
fıиešše qυeeи he actually said in an interview when he first came out he would try to mimick artist like dmx and lil wayne so that he could "sound tough"
Hunger.
Lil Uzi Vert he doesn't really use it
Lil Uzi Vert bruh he doesn't use auto tune he changes his voice depending on what type of song he's gonna do
"I was a black sheep,but now I'm just a goat". 🐐🔥🔥🔥

larsattack he kept his word
Ray Gomez yup
larsattack why though
not true, he weared a dsquared sweater in the 2015 video, when he is flying in the air the graffiti shirt. Its a sweater of like 350 bucks, yall just dont know about the designer he wearing because it aint gucci or louboutins.
Blunt bruhh "weared" tho?
The jump between 2011 and 2012 though
jewellsss took a turn for the worse right there. Left lyricism for pop.
Chris Ravert if you’ve actually listened to his albums from good kid maad city on you wouldn’t say that
SilversteinRescue good kid maad city is the only one I've listened to in its entirety more than once. I didn't enjoy it. He walked on the beat instead of dancing on it. What is this implying.

also left out what is arguably recognized as his "break-out hit" -Hiii Power. That track was also the anthem to his freshman album (section 80), same body of work that brought us ADHD

I should be able to tell it's you when I listen to your old shit *cough, cough, mumble rappers, cough, cough*
Vani Jay ikr this dude been doing this for 13 years and he's done nothing but evolve and improve. He truly has a gift for this.
I bust more mad rhymes than a fucken nursery rhyme book.
"He never changed his style; he just evolved."
Evolve means change.
He refined his style. He got better at being Kendrick.
hahha . Educate them @Alan Duval
sorry if the verb I used doesn't sit well with you, but evolve can be used in a sense that's different from change. It means to progress, mature, develop, advance, etc. something that already exists.. I haven't been alive long enough to say I've been a fan since the beginning, but I discovered Kendrick in 2012. I have however, gone back and listened to his old music. Okay I'm gonna say this. I like Migos, Future, Drake, and Desiigner. I listen to all types of music. But I will never say they're better than Dre, OutKast, J Cole, Nas, Jay Z, Kendrick or pretty much anyone else old school. They, at least to me, will always be at the top.
Joseph Hernandez so you listen to aids but pose and say the good people are actually better. 😂 and btw a few new rappers aren't 'all types of music'
Jeremy Kenley I'm aware that's not all types of music. But if you take into account the fact I listen to most genres including EDM, jazz, alternative, folk and orchestral soundtracks, it's safe to say I listen to more than a few new rappers. Joseph Hernandez Bro you straight minded, if its your personal preferance then fuck it.
