Your comment about thinking Kendrick never really respected Drake, I think he did, when he was starting out. But I imagine after touring with Drake, and being around him more and more, I think he started to see Drake in a different light. In the end, the fans don't know these people as well as they know each other. I'm thinking Kendrick *does* have good reasons behind his constant referencing of Drake.

This isn't simply a case of "theres just some people you don't like no matter what". Kendrick is a genuine dude, and in the beginning was humble and respected Drake. Something happened, Kendrick saw something that he just couldn't let slide, who knows except Kendrick. But for that amount of animosity, it isn't something that can be forgotten just because that someone congratulated you on something. Streets and hoods have lines that you can never cross, and Drake has obviously crossed one of Kendricks lines.
First R.Kelly, next Diddy, now the eyes of suspicion are focusing on Drake. The next 18 months you're going to see a lot of darkness exposed.

No one’s career has been killed. Drakes charting in the top 10 today. Until these slanderous allegations are proven on both sides then it’s simply just a loss in a diss battle. One he’s already had with pusha T. This is simply a hot moment. Emotions will calm down and people will get bored and back to regular. All the Drake fans knew about that 17 video and don’t care cause PEDO=CHILD not a 17 yr old. That’s not pdf shit. Drake needs to chill for a bit and let the emotions calm down.

Kendrick's bar on father's time was rather Kendrick's reflection on how he thought a beef should last forever, that's why he said he was confused when Drake and Kanye got back. Then he said "guess I'm not as mature as I think", indicating that Drake and Kanye squashed their beef was above his level of maturity. He then proceeded to say "got some healing to do", stating that his overly competitive nature may came from daddy issues that he's been having his whole life, which was the main theme of the song Father's Time.

There’s multiple things to analyze between the Drake v Kendrick beef, but what’s always bothered me is how Drake moves the goal post once he realizes he can’t win. At first he wanted to be lyrical then he realized he could be the best at that then changed the metric to bodies of work. Then Kendrick dropped 2 all-time generation defining albums and he realized he couldn’t be the best at that so he moved the goalpost to Grammys. Then Kendrick tied Michael Jackson for the most nominations (& won a Pulitzer) then he changed the narrative to money. It’s a shallowness that has largely driven the trajectory of his career since “Views,” and you can actually see the steady decline of his work since he decided to be a profit-based brand instead of a true artist.

I work for a print shop. We print album covers, cd and dvd jewel case art, vhs and cassette tape insert and video game covers and related items. We printed, folded and glued 55,000 DAMN record sleeves for the initial run, if you don’t know, that’s an enormous amount. 3 months after release they ordered another 265,000 pieces. In the end we produced over a million. It’s the most album covers I’ve done for a single title in my 22 years of production print work.

Kendrick knew about the kind of person Drake is behind the scenes. Kendrick has openly spoken about how toxic the industry is, and we live in a day and age where we are seeing celebs (Diddy, R Kelly, Bill Cosby, Danny Masterson, Harvey Weinstein, Dan Schneider just to name a few) are being held accountable for their actions. Many of these people had rumors about their behavior swirling for YEARS and it’s now being confirmed as true. Drake’s reckoning is coming, and Kendrick is gonna end up on the right side of history.

@@losteezyhe was learning the industry. And I think he took it as "part of the job" shi. He was ambitious enough to hang out with people he didn't like to achieve his dream when he was small, but the moment he got big he was conscious enough to cut those ties. It's not that out of stretch. People do it all the time in corporate settings. You put up with shitty boss during work, don't hang out with him outside of work as much as you can, the moment you got a promotion or better position in the same industry but different company, you completely cut ties from that person bcs you know what kind of person they are.

@@losteezy Maybe, just maybe, he didn't know about all that noise when he said the good things. Up until that point, Drake was helping Kendrick, and if that was all he saw at the time, he would have nothing but good things to say. It would appear something sure changed that though. Would have to be something pretty... bad I would think...

As a low key hip hop fan, 2013, this is when mumble rap and generic cars, money and s*x rappers vs the real lyricists rappers became black and white. In my opinion, Eminem drew that line between them.

The early stages of this was all Drake. Drake taking offense when it wasn't intentional, Drake downplaying Kendrick's artistry, and drake running his mouth in interviews. You can say that Kendrick, at the end of the day, was going the subliminal route too, but his intention wasn't the same. We all know how a head to head battle would go. Drake might do numbers, but we all know Kendrick would body him. Kendrick's subliminals were more of a "hey, c'mon, you know you don't want to do this."

    • @lildawg1685

Really? How do you explain the fact that even though drake put him on during his comeup, Kendrick thought it was cool to laugh about DMX wanting to beat Drake up in public. Like that is enough to get anyone salty and it probably escalated from there. Just like how Freddie Gibbs laughed at benny when he got shot during a shootout and now they are enemies. It makes total sense but yall on Kendricks side because yall fake woke
