  • Should You Wear a Neck Brace? | We Ask The Pros | TCE
    Do you wear a Motocross neck brace? Are you curious on the benefits? Well, join the club. We're so intrigued by the topic we had to the ask the experts. So we asked some 450cc Supercross racers on their thoughts about the latest controversy surrounding the sport...NECK BRACES. Half of the sport thinks we all need one, while the other half believes in proper technique and form to prevent mistakes and injury. What's the right move? Well it's not so black and white. Listen to what the pros have the say and make your own opinion. What do you think? Let us know in the comments...

    I'm 6'2" and I've personally never had any interference issues with my atlas brace. I've actually thought about getting something a little more limiting honestly. It worries me that I can move my head and neck in all directions without making contact with the brace.

    I’ve came back to the comments now that I’ve been wearing a neck brace for a season (haven’t raced just hit the track). I don’t feel it except for the odd time my helmet got stuck on the back of the neck brace (when I first got it). I think it helped me not get whip lash not 100% sure but I know my head wasn’t everywhere on some decent crashes so because of that I prefer riding with one

    This whole conversation is stupid. Do football shoulder pads prevent all injuries? What about helmets? No they don’t. But they protect from certain/specific injuries. Same with Leatt style neck braces. They protect from specific types of injuries. Namely the ones where you head snaps one direction and can crank on your neck. That’s it. People need to be smarter.

    If the law will say all equipment is a must, you'll be buying all.

    I had a friend who lost his best friend in a t bone car collision, he was wearing a seat belt and got hit so hard the seat belt itself killed him on impact. It snapped his neck and ripped his torso out of the car. Safety can ironically be dangerous sometimes. Literally everything in life is a gamble. There are vids of news reporters live (at the time) on location talking into the mic and they just drop dead in the blink of an eye in mid sentence. Live life and celebrate every second while you still can, some people ride that wave by embracing and accepting danger

    I took mine off because I felt limited to what I could do on the motorcycle, not being able to ride with my hips out all the way without bending at the knees and this is something that I learned from Ryan Hughes. Just makes life easier without one and I believe you're less likely to get hurt without one because your technique is gonna get better so you're gonna be safer. I mean look at Marvin, he took his off and now he's way better.

  • @huckfin1598
    @huckfin1598 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Wait, did he say the brace would have caused the internal decapatstion or not wearing one would have caused it?

    • @jakescott7491

      Wearing it could have caused it.

    • @racingfuel28
      @racingfuel28 ปีที่แล้ว

      What I’ve heard most is that the brace puts more pressure on the top part of your neck, and can sometime lead to you breaking your neck if you hit the ground in the wrong position. The pressure the ground puts on you as you hit, combined with the pressure the brace was already applying could cause your neck to go ahead and break. Plus I’ve heard of it popping out a collar bone or two for people before. Like they all said, it’s personal preferences. Nobody debates chest protectors like this, some people wear them, some don’t. If you don’t like it, don’t wear it. I don’t get why Ryno gets so up in arms about it, just let people try it, and decide for themselves😂

    Yet another video on the subject, once again, missing the most important point. Can a brace protect you in certain, unlikely situations? Sure.
    The problem most people don’t seem to recognize or address, other than Ryan Hughes, is that wearing the neck braces makes it impossible for most people to ride in a most ergonomic and therefore, safer way. Are you going to be safer wearing a neck brace in a particular type of crash? Maybe. Does the brace make you more likely to crash by not allowing you to ride with proper technique? Absolutely.
    Ride with one if you want to, no one should be able to tell you what to do, but if you really want to use your body so that you can ride your best (and safest) a neck brace will most likely make it impossible.
