It *was* a compliment. Humans like being sneaky bastards, and like being acknowledged as such because most of the time we can’t get props because that would interfere with being a sneaky bastard.
The Normandy Buildup is a diversion. They’re DEFINITELY landing at Calais. We have far too much intel retrieved at far too high a cost for it to be fake.
You mean to tell me that they didn't try to use inflatable balloon warships like how they did to make tanks, that's a bit sad but at the same time it checks out, with the radiation output the ships would had been giving out and what not.
I suspect enemy sensors (given that there local recon, in system) were good enough to have detected any 'fake' ships...only _real_ (fake) ships would have been capable of emitting the correct energy signatures to mimic the actual ships is question. And, you could say that the empty-hulled ships _were_ the equivalent of balloon dummies. Half-assing a deception plan is a good way to get caught.
I was only a short way in when Operation Bodyguard came to mind. It was almost a disappointment that they didn't include references to inflatable tanks and at least one General fuming over being assigned to head up the con.😊

@brianmeadows1137 too many people want to compare historical figures to some saintly modern ideal to paint them in the worst possible light or to claim they are irredeemable instead of great leaders.
I remember reading about the true story that is referred to and watching it in the Patton movie. In WWII, we were getting ready to launch our major invasion against the Germans through France. There were several possible landing sites along the French coast where our men could be delivered by the navy. There were several possible sites in the UK to launch from. The Germans knew all of this. We tricked the Germans into believing that the Normandy Beach invasion was only a faint and that the real invasion would occur along a different part of the French coast. We had fake training going on with fake tanks and all sorts of other trickery. Our best general--Patton was even sent to the fake training camp to make it look more like that was a real training camp. This is all true. There is more true trickery that was done to keep the Germans from finding out that Normandy was going to be our real invasion site. Another true movie was made about some of it. I think it was called "The Man Who Never Was." We had faked up intel documents, making it look like the invasion was going to be at the other site, but the hard part was getting it into the hands of the Germans without them figuring out that it was fake. Military intelligence in the UK got permission from the family of a non military man who had just drowned to take custody of his body. He was dressed in a high ranking uniform, given a fake ID and a fake past to go with it, then his body was left in the ocean with some plane wreckage off of the coast of Spain. Some Spanish fishermen found him and brought his body to shore, along with the document case filled with the fake documents chained to his wrist. At that time Germany had a lot of agents working in Spain. They came and examined the body and took the document case. The Spanish people gave the man a proper burial, too. WWII was a fascinating time in history. I like it when stories refer to real events and real people. 😊

Truly the crowning moment of a sneaky bastard move.

One of the greatest leaders that England has ever had and he wasn't a saint which makes it better.
