I wish to applaud this alien observer. They are perhaps one of the few to ever realize that fighting humanity is a losing game, and he had the smarts to tell his emperor that fighting humanity would just hasten their own end.
"Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes." - Quark, DS9

The dead Soldiers along our Road fought with honour. I am only able to see them, because i fight without. For if i fought with honour, i would lie beside them Only if one is willing to forgo honour, he will survive
beware the wardens whom holds the beast of war's chains , for as you wound them the beast will offer them all its savage might and leave you starved as only those whom respected it could forge chains to temper its rage in their hearts
I think the author has a misunderstanding of what PTSD and war look like. It’s varied and different from person to person. Not speaking as an expert by any means, just the idea that military bases are full of soldiers staring into the middle distance and cinematically shedding single tears over the death of a comrade feels like a misrepresentation. Interesting story premise though and a fun read regardless.
@@Bennastix I’m the author, and I definitely don’t. Yeah, PTSD takes different forms, but the end is always the same. Look up the Marlboro Marine for a more recent example. Countless more from Vietnam and Korea. Point is, when people are at the breaking point, they’ll act on instinct and morality goes straight out the window. But their humanity is still there deep down. If you had to shoot your own brother, you might have a few feelings too, even if you’re beyond normal feelings or rationalization

I like that he started out completely misinterpreting what he was seeing, but realized the truth in the end.

When this music kicks in I know I'm in for a good one haha
I for sure smile and get comfy when I hear that sound.
Awesome story, I would love to see a well crafted version of it made into a visual representation, like on love, Death, & robots.
Under 15 minute gang up!
War is Hell and Hell brings out the best and worst of us..
Someone once told me there comes a time when mere victory is not enough.

Thank you
War is hell.
Not a sport to praise the ones that manage to endure it until the end
Not a competition to see the first few finalists
Any war.
Good point.
Harrowing, thank you both. UKUK
It would be funny if there was a cut extension. One that showed all the fighting was an act for the inspector.
Noice!!!
👍
