Sakashima makes infinite mana if there is a dockside in table and 5+ artifacts or enchants there

Before Imp Seal got reprinted, I used to use scheming symmetry as a budget alternative. But then I'd dash in Ragavan and hit the other player who tutored, so it was like I drew a card of THEIR choice for me!

Ob looks like fun but I'm not sure I see much advantage to having your opponents slowly exiling your deck for you, cards you either play next turn or lose them forever. It forces plays and disrupts your tempo. No?

Why did the Wheel of Misfortune get countered? They could've just chosen 0 all of them, right? Also not sure why Alex plays it with Spirit of the Labyrinth on the field.
If they all choose 0 they all wheel anyway, it's kinda a gamble unless they talk about it. Realistically it's probably a misplay as you've said since there was a spirit, but bowmasters is also a pretty potent threat in cedh rn

This game was one of their worst played games ever. Jerry should've gotten drannith, Jim didn't go infinite mana with student, Jan forgot to activate tef the last turn to try and find an answer, this wheel situation....
@@drew941 yes, because spirit is out the important part of that wheel is the "discard your hand".
@@poipoi9816 Huh? What are you talking about? No one discards if they pick 0 and no one is drawing cards because of spirit no matter what. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here.

But since the Sakashima Ob Nix comes in before damage - after blockers are declared - wouldn't it then see the 1? I can't see how it would deal Ob Nix damage but not also see the Yuriko 1 damage
Separate sources of damage are counted separately. He didn't take 5 lump damage, he took 4 and 1

Yuriko is one of my favorite of all time. Attack with "just a little guy" and then smack the while table with massive spell mana values.
Couple of minor errors, when alex casts rite of flame then moves to combat those red mana pips burn off but not Birgi.
Endurance doesn't shuffle it just puts them on the bottom of the library
I generally use imperial seal to tutor some beef for yuriko, casting it post combat seemed wasteful
He used it to search up vamp tutor, so it seems the thinking was to turn a known card into an unknown for the rest of the table, while keeping the same effect. He could still cast the vamp tutor pre combat on his next turn for a big hit.

Tor Wauki the Younger. Your non-combat damages deal plus one damage, whenever you cast an instant or sorcery Tor Wauki deals 2 (so effectively 3) damage to any target, and he has lifelink. Jim's deck is every card has a CMC of 1

Not that it matters, but shouldn’t alex go down to 3 mana after his attack with ob nix, because two mana of the 5 were mana from rite of flame. Im not sure if Im right but I think birgi only stores her mana through phases

13:37 I think I saw a comment that mentioned it, but instead of bouncing the Wingcrafter for Ninjutsu, you were supposed to bounce Yuriko. Have Sakashima's Student enter as a copy of Dockside Extortionist, you would get 6 treasures by my count (assuming Jan sacrifices all of his treasures in response). Then, before damage, spend 2 treasures to Ninjutsu Yuriko in, bouncing the Student. Then spend 2 more treasures, still before damage, and repeat this. You net 2 treasures every time, making infinite mana. Then for the last loop, Ninjutsu Yuriko in, then bounce the Wingcrafter to Ninjutsu Student back in as a copy of Ob Nixilis, or anything else. Not sure what you had in hand, but making infinite treasures should be good on any board state :)
I did a very similar thing in a cEDH game, but one of my opponents was playing Thrasios, so I copied him with Student on the last loop and drew my whole deck and won that way!
EDIT: Watching further, it seems you had a Seagate Restoration in hand. Wasn't counting how many cards were in your hand, but it might have drawn you deep enough to get to the Temporal Trespass we saw, and then go nuts from there? Very fun match regardless, seeing all the Ob triggers was super fun!
So.. instead of using fierce guardianship you could have, you know.. not.

Im sorry I have to ask, first of all big fan, but why did Jim counter the wheel of misfortune? Unless Im completely mistaken it had literally zero effect, alex had already drawn for turn and there was a spirit of the laberynth, so everyone would just choose zero and no one would wheel right? So it made no sense to waste a counter

Why'd Jim Fierce guardianship the wheel of misfortune? Everyone chooses 0, and anyone who chooses more than 0 pitches their hand and only draws 1. If wheel resolves and Alex wheels, he also pitches his hand and only draws one.
Actually it's even better for anyone who isn't Alex: they all pick zero and either he picks zero and wasted mana for nothing or he picks a non-zero number and takes damage and discards his hand and draws nothing since he already drew for turn.

On the Warrior Oaths turn couldn’t the Teferi be activated again as it was another turn?
Kind of a weird combo with Shalai and Halar, but you can kill everyone with Ajani's Pridemate after casting Take up the Shield on Shalai.
24:30 does any else have a pet peeve against shuffling with endurance? You should only randomize your graveyard and then place the pile on the bottom of your library. Endurance doesn’t say anything about shuffling said library.

Jim missed an opportunity to ninjutsu Sakashima's Student in for Yuriko, have it enter as Dockside, get 5 treasures even if Jan cracked his treasures, and get infinite treasures, and then end with Yuriko and Student on the field

spirit of the labyrinth was keeping decks in check. chain of vaporing it was bad for the health of the game and kinda kingmade on nixilis
Ob nixilis has quickly become one of my favorite decks. Even on a less than 200$ budget, it still shreds slower tables, but i wouldn’t dare to try it at a real cedh table or anything because it’s still slow for that price.
Why not let Wheel of Misfortune Resolve and pay 0 life so you don't wheel? Or if everyone pays 0 life, does everyone still wheel?

They actually didn’t read the card right 14:26 ob nix let’s you use cards from exile until your NEXT end step not current end step of the turn you are on
if its your turn that end step is your next end step. they did it right.

Well he could have just started by ninjutsu’ing on Yuriko to make sure he had a ninja in hand to loop sakashimas student as dockside then end with inf mana and sakashimas student as ob and yuriko attacking

It's sometimes should be taken into account how the triggers are resolved as the other ob nixilis will be triggering off the stack if he did not order it properly to find an answer such as deadly rollic in the yuriko deck and in some instances angels grace.

That trigger with Yuriko and Ob copy isn’t true. Damage happens at the same time because none of them have either first strike or double strike
Are those genuine alpha dual lands?
Ob nixilis wouldn’t trigger off the Yuriko damage at 14:20.
“5/12/2023 Ob Nixilis's last ability looks at all combat damage dealt to an opponent in total to determine whether it triggers. For example, if three 1/1 creatures deal combat damage to an opponent, that player loses 3 life. Ob Nixilis's ability won't trigger.”
