Let this comment stay here as a memory of me, this song has so much memory for me I used to watch walking dead in early days of it's release back then my father was alive and everything was fine and peaceful, miss you dad 🖤
music is much older than language, the written word etc. music is the ultimate universal language, it speaks to the deepest, darkest reaches of our being. in short, fucking awe-inspiring.
The show really fell off after Shane died. It's still interesting, but I felt like the first two seasons (when Shane was alive) had immensely less filler and bullshit material. Jon Bernthal is a great actor, wish they could have kept him alive for longer -- maybe have done what they did with Morgan and don't reintroduce him as a major character until several seasons later.
I come back here again and again. Absolutely in love with the atmosphere, the sun, her hair (to be fair: his hair too), the sound of the distorted acoustic guitar, the style of playing, the passion in it. Every time they play this song it's authentic, never the same but always stunning.
Here I am 12 years later listening to this wonderful acoustic version. The first Indie Folk song I heard, when the trailer for the third season of TWD was released, I really liked the theme song by ''Karin Kimbel - Black'' and I started researching if the old seasons had theme songs. That’s how I discovered Wye Oak and this wonderful music.
Only a few songs have the power to bring back the memories, this song is one of them. I'm glad i found this song, thanks to TwD. Everytime I listen to this, I can recall the amazing feeling of watching TwD and anything that I did when listening to this song!
No paro de escuchar distintas versiones de esta canción, y parece que a la chica también le encanta cantarla, gracias a ella y su canción amo más a twd y extraño más a aquellos personajes que quería
sadly, i simply lost all of my childhood friends we saw each other but cannot say even a word to each other. it kinda hurts sometimes but life goes on. joy and pain gonna exist everytime.
This song gives me a sick pit in my stomach. A feeling of dread. I mean that in a very good way. A true visceral reaction. Missing the simpler times. Walking Dead season 4. I miss Rick. I miss Carl. I miss when the show was good. I miss when things were normal. Weird times...
@@matthewlachance3362 ^ its also my fav line as well cause it encapsulates what I am going through. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself and being by myself. But i still yearn for someone to love even though I know I don't need it. Sure being able to be independent and a lone wolf is great, but who is going to be there to pick up the pieces when you eventually break and shatter?
Shane was a true warrior and leader ! Without him, the show is as weak as Rick. Rick's a pussy and a woman's underwear.))) the first 2 seasons of the series are the best ! it's the gold band . Fondest memories. Best song!! (sorry for bad English)
Have to agree to disagree. Her voice is louder here - something that bums me out in the studio version, her voice is not heard enough - but they're either high as fuck as suggested before me, or she can't sing that well, (I think both) which I'm fine with. Hence my preference for the studio version. I have always liked singers who don't have amazing vocal ranges but charismatic voices, but one thing is to listen to their studio stuff and another is live stuff. And I wouldn't pay to watch a concert by any band or singer who is not amazing singing live. But I do enjoy this cover, nice and sweet. almost like this song is not known at all or had no success.
I got the feeling that maybe she simply struggles 2 play guitar and sing at same time, its very hard 2 do and the way she pronounces her words suggests this atleast 2 me, but either its beautiful, her voice and guitar, live performance is raw compared 2 studio and i love that... Lol red wine and youtube
I love your insight of that scene, brother. In my opinion, it was easily, one of the best scenes on the show so far, especially due to Wye Oak's song playing on the background. I was VERY intrigued by the scene, it was a very powerful one. The way he just stares at that walker... goddamn! Thank you very much, I'm glad I found your comment on this video, I've been looking around trying to find someone's opinion, but wasn't able to found one. Yours is perfect! Take care, brother!
Big props to The Walking Dead for a great show, for featuring great music and for helping me to find this band. Just bought their album and look forward to their other work.
Discovered this after the Walking Dead, bought the album and listened on a loop for days. Unimaginable sound. This siren song would send me to the rocks for sure.
Im a musician as well and don't really keep up with new talent. I'm thankful I didn't miss this one. Some don't have the resources to find all the fantastic music before it hits the airwaves. Whatever brought us here now, touched us the same way. Longevity my friends
Does anybody else think that we live in a singer-songwriter age? It's awesome. So many great musicians, nowadays, creating beautiful music with just a guitar and their voice.
Watching walking dead again from the start. I was younger back then when i first watched walking dead and didnt give much thought to this song when it played. Now that im older im just amazed at how good this song is!
i`v watched all of their live videos and not live on internetz and i must say, they are awesum and they got some raw talent!!!!! they just do it from their hearts! they make me wanna realise myself in the way they do it. I want to do it!!!!! will go learn play guitar now!

Back then everything was different, sorry about your dad 🤍
Im so sorry; but y right, older the things was more easy the life was more easy.
It's amazing how they can create such atmosphere with only a guitar and her voice, basically.
Don't forget Mr. Tambourine man!

A balcony in A' dam helps.

This song makes me cry. Before for TWD, now for the song itself, I could listen to it forever.
The moment I heard this one in TWD I immediately shazam'd it and now its one of my favorite songs ever

The feeling this song created with Shane and the lone walker was unbelievable, I’ll never forget that. Thank you Wye Oak.

I feel you. I coincidentally stumbled across that song again a couple of days ago. Instant flashbacks. I was almost stunned for a hot second.
the last scene from walking dead episode 10 from season 2...
this song fit perfectly and it was an amazing moment !
Love it !
It still amazes me how she controls the guitar and voice and i love those grunge inflows in her songs :D You can feel em everywhere :D I love you!!!
she can't control her head though
The grunge influence is so strong it's what pulled me in. Particularly on The Knot. Cannot get enough of this band.
@@giancarlog89 you should see her play bass, loses all concious control of her neck
I love Wye Oak so much because she scored The Walking Dead ❤️
didn't watched it and she made this music while she had no idea about the tv show. you people put some context in it but it's not the case.
Her voice is so powerful and I just love her song so much.I love the part when she laughs,it’s so real.

how is this able to make me reflect on my whole life and just be so epic and beautiful? it is just special.
