      You did some fantastic work! I think your channel needs more growth and you can consider me subscribed. If you haven't done it yet, can you do a video on Walter White or Saul Goodman?

    • @AdrianEXE
      @AdrianEXE  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure, I have already begun the process of creating a video discussing the personality disorder Walter White may have. I have to catch up with Better Call Saul to make a video about him, but he is definitely on the list. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion!

    What I love is that a single TV character, out of all the current TV characters, is under a synopsis of the psych bible. That shows that this character, and actor portraying him, is so f**king awesome and the show is written incredibly.

    Negan may be stuck on himself, but NPD I disagree. He has a very strategic mind and is a very strict ruler. His long game is incredible. If I were to diagnose Negan it would be High Machiavellian.

    Ow man I'm watching Dead City right now and would be so curious how you tackle that. Negan has got to be one of the most interesting villains turned anti-hero of this era. Kirkman did a wonderful job of not just killing off another "redeemed" bad guy but actually let him live and see how the story goes.

    Could you make one about the governor? I believe he's a malignant narcissist but he's just such a complex character!

      I sure can, I'll add him to the list of episodes I plan to do as well. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion!

    I’m not a doctor or anything like that but from my understanding he could be a sociopath. A lot of people think that sociopath means 0 remorse 0 guilt etc. not all sociopaths are even necessarily bad they just have a cloudy moral compass. And they have empathy and such for certain people (typically not many) some in general have 0 remorse/empathy some have a little it really depends. Do I think negans a narcissist? 100% I agree. But I definitely believe there’s sociopathy mixed in there too.

    From what we know in season 10 there was a lawsuit, because of the event that happened during his coaching career. Negan said that he came close to killing the man who he was engaged in the lawsuit which could’ve alluded to the idea of him being in jail prior to the apocalypse.
    This doesn’t have an effect on Negan‘s behavior in childhood, but during an apocalypse most people would stabilize over time, as to out an appropriate government law enforcement and healthcare agencies people with serious psychiatric conditions would tend to do worse overtime instead of stabilize. From what is the seam in the ladder season they have shown Negan stabilizing. I do agree with your analysis of Negan having NPD, but if I was a psychiatrist NPD would not be the primary condition that I would be testing for based on the evidence given. I would’ve wanted him to go through the psychopathy checklist. Once he’s proven negative then we would look at NPD, and other antisocial disorders.

    It is ridiculous that a bad person (he is a dictator, after all) becomes "good" by spending a few years in prison. If that worked we wouldn't have the recidivism rates we have.

    I think Negan has anxiety disorders mixed in with some narcissitic qualities. He's not a full-on narcissist, just a guy with some narcissistic traits due to trauma

    We dont know about his childhood so no true diagnosis can be given and he changes throughout the show. Its seems more like he is under severe stress and trauma plus selfish and narcissist traits but not a full narcissist.
    My mom is NPD she is a monster and has no recognition of her mistakes. Negan does, negan changes.

    He's a figment of a comic book's writers..... LOL... He's not a real person, so how can you diagnose someone who doesn't exist, except in a tv show?? Do you really think the writers went to the psychology manuals to give him a specific background to align him with the signs and symptoms of what you THINK is wrong with him??

    • @AdrianEXE
      @AdrianEXE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Indeed he isn't real, but writers have and will probably continue to write stories involving complex characters with mental disorders. Take Dexter for example, it's a show involving a character with sociopathic personality traits. Ask yourself, is Dexter entirely normal? Do the writers need to tell you that he is a sociopath flat out? No, it's implied through actions and dialogue or monologues in the script. In the case of Dexter, answers were provided by the novels and by the creator of the character, Jeff Lindsay. The fact of the matter is, regardless of intent, they still gave Negan personality traits that align with the DSM-V's diagnostic criteria. Hopefully, that cleared up any confusion, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

      He might not be a real person but that doesn't mean you can't speculate the psychology behind his personality. Most writers of complex characters inadvertently create some sort of personality disorder that accompanies the character. This doesn't need to be explicitly stated b/c that's what subtext is for.

      Just because someone isn’t real doesn’t mean that their behavior can’t be analyzed and aligned with traits that exist in the real world.
