The reason this song rocks so hard is because the drums and bass are played by Sly and Robbie, a legendary Jamaican rhythm section. The fact that the lyrics were inspired by William S Burroughs help as well.
Robbie Shakespeare on bass alright, but Charlie Watts on drums and Sly Dunbar on electronic percussions throughout.
RIP Sir Charlie Watts. A legendary gentleman and musician.

It really is an underrated hit by the Stones. Peaked at #9 on Billboard December 1983. Reminds me of when my Fraternity kidnapped me and another brother and took us to a remote post office in December 1983.

Hard to believe the Undercover album is nearly 40 years old.
For me the last great stones album, full of great guitar riffs and had a great groove all the way through.
The world tours seemed to take over from the album quality from the late 80,s onwards but by then there was plenty classics in the bank !!!!!!!

This is by far the MOST UNDERRATED album of the Stones. Pretty Beat Up, Tie You Up, Too Tough - TOTAL GEMS not to mention Undercover and Too Much Blood. Mick and Keith should be proud of this whole experiment/project.

Absolutely. I think not touring to promote the album and get the music out there was what doomed it to obscurity outside of Stones devotees (although given the then current state of the band, it may have been a wise choice).

action with her and clicks the remote back to the Stones’ music video … and then when the parents burst in, the dad has a white military uniform, like he could be one of the corrupt generalísimos right out of the TV show that she was watching… brilliant!

Fantastic aong from a really underrated album. I think fans weren't ready for this album at the time. It's held up incredibly well. A real shame they never toured behind it and 4 or 5 of these tracks weren't highlighted while they sill had tha edge of youth.
When I was a young child, the Stones were my very first favorite musical artist and I remained Team Stones for life. When I was a teenager, I couldn't get enough of this song or music video, and I still can't, really. Now that I'm in my thirties, I'm really, really grateful TH-cam has this video so I can watch it over and over and over again. :)

Arguably, their last great single. Great disco rock groover, propelled by a momentous bass line and anxious/attacking guitar riff from Keith.
This was late 60s Stones in the early 1980s scary threatening edgy and funky and Micks lyrics holy shit powerful.
And it's turning 40 years old and yet isn't dated one bit. The echoes, Charlie Watts's legendary drumming and the classic Stones sound that didn't change a whole lot over the years. Still got my little 45 of this song that will blow the speakers out if turned up too much. Those were fun days.
Today Carlie passed away. So sad. RIP, Charlie, Rock'nRoll will never die!

This is one of my absolute favourite Stones songs. So underrated. Was written from what Bianca told Mick about Nicaragua (?) where she came from and returned to be an activist.

So profoundly sad to hear of the death of Charlie Watts at the age of 80.In my view Charlie Watts was one of the greatest and most beloved rock drummers in the world and his passing will not only be felt by his band mates but also by rock fans around the world.
