I remember Goldie from 'Laugh In' and movies like 'There's a Girl in my Soup' and always enjoyed her, Kurt I remember as far back as his Disney days and appearances on shows like 'Lost in Space'. I've always been happy they could not only get together but become one of the most enduring couples of Hollywood.
One of the things that I really like about Kurt and Goldie is that Yeah they're a couple and they've been together 39 years something like that but you know you don't see them out on the red carpet a whole lot hold on they're mainly just people that work and go home and spend some Time together and with their families they're just really down-to-earth kind of people and I like that about them
Kate Hudson talks about living in the Russell-Hahn environment and that she had to be very demanding and outspoken to be heard because it's a lot of male energy.
One of the things I like about Kurt Russell is that due to his early contract work with Disney, he said in an interview that acting was just a job to him.
@@Jaslath because of his early work with Disney I always had trouble seeing him as a grown up action bad ass actor. I like him but I always think of him as a kid
One of the longest lasting double star relationships in Hollywood history. Not only been together for 39 years but their anniversary is on Valentine's Day ❤
The coolest thing about this movie, are the strange occurrences for Kurt and Goldie afterwards. The 1986 movie is about Goldie having amnesia, and getting over it after seeing someone familiar. Ten years after this movie, in 1997, Kurt was flying a commuter plane over Phoenix with their 10 year old son aboard, when Kurt sees a large array of lights in front of him. The tower says there is nothing on the radar, but Kurt descends below the lights, and lands at the airport with no incident, and forgets about it. Over ten years later, Kurt is in a hotel room, and sees Goldie watching a TV show about the Phoenix Lights, and suddenly remembers, "Oh yeah, I was flying my plane there". Amnesia recovery again!
Kurt Russell played Santa Claus in a movie called the Christmas Chronicles and its sequel for Netflix. When Goldie cameoed at the end as Mrs. Claus, I thought, “Well, naturally.”
"Private Benjamin", "Wildcats" and I think this one's called "Protocol"? All terrific movies with Goldie Hawn! And yes I've watched Overboard probably 15 times and it just never stops delivering💦!
Ashleigh, I had the honor of meeting the man who played Grant, Ed Hermann, and got to actually spend a good bit of time with him. He was the absolute nicest gentleman ever!!! My bro-in-law lived near him and knew him, so when we visited my sister and bro-in-law, we'd get to be around him. I cannot say enough nice things about him. He's played some really questionable characters in film, so it's nice to know he was one of the good guys in real life.
What a moment for you leeswhimsy, Hermann was a gifted talent who was not truly respected for his enormous acting ability. He and Tim Matheson did a movie called “A Little Sex” where the before mentioned playing brothers betting each other that the younger would not stray outside the lines of holy matrimony because he would value, respect and keep his vows rather than lose a bet to his older brother. It’s nice when the talent rises to the top!
The frozen freezer on the one door fridge is classic. I have that same fridge in the basement keeping my beer cold. And yeah it’s icebound like Kurt’s. Oh yeah, you gotta put “Captain Ron” on your list of Kurt Russell have to sees.
Pee-Wee's Big Adventure is one of my favorite movies, for whatever that's worth. Also it was the feature length directional debut of Tim Burton, who directed many movies including Batman 89 and its sequel.
Yep; PWBA is an insane, but fun, movie she should absolutely watch. Historically important as a pop-culture touchstone but also as Tim Burton’s debut, not to mention grossly underrepresented on TH-cam reactions.
@@vovindequasahi I made a comment on the video saying the same thing. I think she would laugh at some of the jokes/humor but overall wouldn't care for it.
If you like Goldie Hawn I cannot wait to see you watching something like First Wives Club. So great! Also starring Bette Midler, who we know you love, as well as Diane Keaton. You'd love this movie i just know it.
My favorite part in the movie is when Goldie calls out the kids' teacher for not noticing her children's rashes and sending them to the clinic 😂. Honestly, the teacher deserved it because she was mean
Which is exactly how real teachers are, when I was a kid we had to sue my school because they were so nasty and hateful, long story short we bought our house because of their nonsense 😁 If I get pregnant someday, they will be homeschooled
That was another big turning point. She had the one time playing out in the yard with them. But at this point....she turned from taking the teacher's side with their behavior problems....to being their "mother" and taking up for them and seeing good they each had. It was adorable to see how the boys then reciprocated.
One of the sons, played by actor Jared Rushton was Billy in Big. The husband was actor Edward Herrmann who was in a ton of stuff. The Lost Boys, The Aviator, Annie and Grey’s Anatomy, to name a few. But most recently he was probably best known for playing Richard Gilmore on Gilmore Girls until his passing in late 2014. Mike Hagerty was on the show Friends as Mr Treeger, the Super. And Katherine Helmond the mother, depending on what generation you ask, was mostly well known for being Mona on the show Who’s The Boss.
I know Katherine Helmond from way before when she was in 'Soap'. I knew Edward Herrmann from playing FDR in 'Annie' and from 'The Man with One Red Shoe'.
Edward Herrmann was in the 1970s version of the Great Gatsby as a guest to Gatsby's party that never left. He was also in the Coen Brothers film Intolerable Cruelty playing a rich man who loves trains. RIP.
I love this movie, it's so awesome and hilarious. It also has Chevy Chase and Burgess Meredith, and since she just watched both Grumpy Old Men movies, I bet she would enjoy seeing him again.
if you like Kurt russel, watch "Tango & Cash" , "Sky force Soldier", "Escape from New York / LA".... real good ones. but his best work is in "Big Trouble in Little China"
2 fun stories 1. The yacht used for filming this movie belonged to my Dad's boss at the time. I never got to go on it, but my dad was on it on multiple occasions and had great stories to tell about it and the service it got. 2. My brother was living in Aspen Colorado right after High School working at the ski resort there. He and his roommate were invited to a kegger at a house one night. The house was absolutely huge. This was in the mid 90s. Tons of people, just a normal kegger in a house. As they walked through the house, my brother turns to his roommate and says "wow, these people are huge fans of Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn, they have pictures of them all over the place.". Turns out that it was their house, and their daughter was throwing the party because they were out of town!!
I think it's an absolute testament to the varied fan base you've established, seeing as "Dead Poets Society" was TIED with "Overboard". Two VERY different movies!!! Love your reactions and our best to you, Blake and Beans...
"Overboard" is always a blast to watch! Lots of fun! Two other fun Goldie Hawn movies to watch are "Private Benjamin" (1980) and "Bird on a Wire" (1990).
I saw an interview with Goldie and Kurt and they talked about watching this after 30 years and they forgot how funny it was. Plus Goldie remembered their son Wyatt taking his first steps. Love this movie and them❤
Fun fact: this is actress Reese Witherspoons favorite movie. It did win , it won the hearts of many viewers which is more important . Great, fun movie. 😊
Overboard is one of those few romance comedies that even I as a guy always liked. It a really fun film and I must have seen it a bazillion times growing up. Glad you liked it.
Okay so even though they have been partners for over 30 years at least Kurt and Goldie have yet to be married. Also Kurt had his start with Disney in the 60's. Also I think Roddy McDowall should have at least been nominated for Beat Supporting Actor for this film. Especially given his long career going back to MGM's Lassie Come Home and ending with A Bug's Life as the voice of Mr. Soil.
And when you need space for a black and white classic - maybe early films of long time stars or something like that, go back and watch Lassie Come Home and/or How Green Was My Valley.
Kurt Russell portrayed Elvis in a movie back in the late 70s or early 80s I think, which is pretty neat because he came out with Elvis in the movie it happened at the worlds fair, when Kurt Russell was a kid.
@@Deathbird_Mitch they met in 1966 on the set of the film "The One And Only, Genuine, Original Family Band" but got together when they filmed "Swing Shift" in '83. They had their son, Wyatt, the year before making this movie. 3 kids and she still looked like that in a bathing suit...geez!
I grew up watching all of Goldie's movies and love her! One that you NEED to watch is Housesitter (Steve Martin is in it). Fun fact: this was filmed in California, not far from my hometown. I wasn't around yet (or maybe in diapers?) but this one makes me homesick.
@@markwilliams6394 I watched Goldie on Laugh-In reruns when I was little in the 80s. I loved her so much! She's got an infectious smile and laugh! I loved Kurt in Backdraft, but my brother and I loved Captain Ron.
i think its nice they are still together in real life. he raised her kids from before they were together as if they were his. kate hudson even made him a fathers day post online this year. the whole family seems really happy.
I always thought she was so bored on the yacht in the beginning because she truly was very intelligent, not just a dumb rich girl like everyone in her world treated her. It really showed with how quickly she picked everything up taking care of the house and kids.
One of my favourtie Kurt Russel movies is "Soldier". Sure it's an action movie, but there's some really good writing and acting in there. Russel really portrays an incredible range of emotions, which is an accomplishment as he plays someone that doesn't display emotions.
I rewatch this movie a lot! hard not to just list after Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn lol love little lines like “you shot a chicken?” “It’s a hell of a day at sea sir!”
My old apprentice built that shoe rack for his wife . When they had the house appraised the appraiser valued it at $18,000.00 His was Walnut and Aromatic Ceder .
I really can't believe that she hasn't done it on her channel yet. Directed by John Carpenter starring Kurt Russell, why hasn't this happened already??
Things You Didn’t Know about the Movie “Overboard” Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn’s kids were always on set. Their youngest actually took his first steps on set. It was no doubt comforting to have them there at all times. Russell’s pickup truck was used later on in Christmas Vacation. Recall the old, beat-up truck that was tailgating the Griswolds on their way to get a Christmas tree. This is the same truck. Hawn and Russell hosted a BBQ for the whole cast and crew. John Candy was considered for the role of Billy. At the time that he was considered for the role John was filming Planes, Trains, and Automobiles with Steve Martin. One of the kids was so rowdy on the set that the director had to step in frequently. It would seem that the actor playing Joey wasn’t just acting a lot of the time, he was actually this rowdy. The director had to get after him quite a bit to calm him down.
Oh, God, you need to see "Sky High!" Kurt Russell at his hunkiest, a really great plot twist, Kelly Preston in the best work she's ever done. And tons of laughs!
Sadly, we lost Billy/Mike Hagerty a few months ago. He was such a great character actor. He played the repairman on Friends. That's where a lot of people recognize him.
There's SO many great Goldie Hawn movies in the 80's, you can't go wrong with any of them, but I recommend "Wildcats". It doesn't get more 80s than that.
This is still one of my favorite romantic movies from this era. Im pretty sure they were together at this point and the chemistry just shows. If you want to continue on the Kurt train, even if it isn't for the channel, he plays Santa on The Christmas Chronicles and its such a heartwarming duo of movies for the holidays. So glad you enjoyed this!
Seen this movie so many times...don't ever think just because it didn't win awards, it isn't worth watching! Thank you for reaction - guess I'm gonna have to watch it one more time!
Strangest thing. Growing up i must've only seen this movie on regular tv since there were scenes i'd never seen before. Like naked Goldie Hawn and such. It was like watching the director's cut or something. Never dawned on me they'd been edited so much. This is only like the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened w/ a movie while watching reactions. Love the channel!
PeeWee was a phenomenon for a while. Kids dressing up like him for Halloween, everyone tried out that voice and his catch phrases, he had movies, toys, and Saturday morning television show. It's odd today but at the time was pretty natural.
31:25 - I never thought that "Overboard" is not talked about enough. Pretty much everyone I asked knows this film and it's considered a gold classic of it's decade. This movie is probably the most well know Goldie Hawn movie.
I just accidentally discovered you reacting to Better Off Dead and I think you're my new favorite reactor. I have to go watch ALL your videos. You're hilarious with a great personality. I love it!
Please watch the following Goldie Hawn movies: “Private Benjamin” and “Foul Play”. And since you like Dolly Parton, I recommend watching the comedy “Rhinestone” with Sylvester Stallone. Great reaction and love your channel!
Never watched the movie Private Benjamin, but I did like the TV series when I was growing up! I especially liked Eileen Brennan, who was in both the movie and TV show as the mean captain.
The white stuff on the sandwiches was Marshmallow Fluff. It was popular for a minute in the late 80’s and early 90’s. It’s literally just spreadable marshmallow. It’s great with peanut butter on a sandwich if jelly isn’t a pure enough sugar rush for you. You can still buy it.
If you wanna see really early Goldie Hawn, check out "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In". She was an original cast member and was on the show for the first 3 seasons. You won't believe her persona, and for a while, the public wasn't sure if it's the way she really was, or if she was just acting. A little bit later, she played opposite Walter Matthau in "Cactus Flower" and won a supporting actress Oscar for that role.
I love how when the Edith, Joanna's mom calls the husband to get her daughter back, the song Tequila is playing while they're all dancing and partying. Tequila being Pee-Wee Herman's song of choice. Even though nobody was dancing like Pee-Wee, I thought it was a clever nod to Pee-Wee. And you can even see a white tshirt (?) with pictures of Pee-Wee at 18:06 when Annie learns that Joey can't read.
Hey, it’s really okay to watch the theatrical release of LoTR. The extended releases were only meant for really die hard fantasy fans, so they include things that can really slow the stories down. I really love the LoTR, but I’m not sure I would’ve if I saw the extended releases the first time through and hadn’t had such a positive first experience. I think people would much prefer to see you react and enjoy the theatrical releases than watch the really long ones and get annoyed or bored. I know I would anyway 😁
I said the same thing in that review. The extended cuts are great, but they are LONG. Honestly, you could treat the three extended editions as six shorter movies to watch them more comfortably.
Agreed. The extended versions are indeed a tough slog for anyone not familiar with the richness of Tolkiens’ Middle Earth. The theatrical versions are probably the best way for Ashleigh to watch.
Interesting. I didn't read the books and I enjoyed seeing LoTR in the theater. When the DVDs first came out, I watched that and commented to my friend that I must have missed a bunch the first time because I understood it better. He let me know that's because we were watching the extended versions and it filled in some of the info. So I feel like it was helpful. But then, I love films and as long as it's entertaining, I'm not bothered by really long or really short films. The film should be the best length for the story being told. I'm also much older than a majority of people here and don't expect things to be short, quick, and skew towards fast jump cuts, etc.
I don't think we should ask her to finish the trilogy just because we adore them. Both versions of the movies are too long for her. It's a shame but us telling her that she'll love the rest might make her start resenting the LOTR.
It would probably be really funny to see a reaction to some of Kurt Russell's early career work making Disney kids movies in the early 1970s. Stuff like the Strongest Man in the World, The Barefoot Executive, The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, and Now You See Him, Now You Don't. Disney had a stable of actors under contract making these movies, Russell and Jodie Foster are probably the most famous of them now. Speaking of that era of Disney movie, The Cat from Outer Space should be on your list too! ;) (no Kurt or Jodie in it though)
Also, if you are starting to become a Goldie Hawn fan, I know all of her work. " Seems like Old Times" with Chevy Chase and Charles Grodin is a must see, as is "Foul Play" with Chevy Chase. She also did a movie called "Wildcats" where Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson played teammates on a football team that she coached, and Private Benjamin. She did a movie with Steve Martin, whom you seem to like, called "Housesitter," and in a really OLD movie, she was in Steven Speilberg's first movie, his theatrical directorial debut, "The Sugarland Express," based on a true story.

“I’m NOT a bitch… Andrew! Are you going to bring me my lemon or do I have to squeeze it from my hat?!?!”
Ashleigh:”Don’t call it Boom Boom.”
Ashleigh every scene after “They gonna Boom Boom now.”
😆😆😆
Ashleigh is the best!
"Private Benjamin", "Wildcats" and I think this one's called "Protocol"? All terrific movies with Goldie Hawn!
And yes I've watched Overboard probably 15 times and it just never stops delivering💦!
Yes I agree 👍💯
Bird on a Wire
Goldie AND Mel Gibson
House Sitter: Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin 🥰🥰🥰
Ashleigh, I had the honor of meeting the man who played Grant, Ed Hermann, and got to actually spend a good bit of time with him. He was the absolute nicest gentleman ever!!! My bro-in-law lived near him and knew him, so when we visited my sister and bro-in-law, we'd get to be around him. I cannot say enough nice things about him. He's played some really questionable characters in film, so it's nice to know he was one of the good guys in real life.
The Lost Boys!
I really enjoyed his portrayal of the grandfather character in Gilmore Girls.
My brother did a Broadway show with Herrmann and gave the same glowing report. Heartbreaking that he died from brain cancer. 😢
The Man with One Red Shoe was my favorite of his.
You should do more movies with Goldie Hawn. She is simply epic! The First Wives Club is legendary. Goldie, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton!!
I love that movie, classic!
One of my absolute fav’s! Hope she watches it at some point 😄
MUST WATCH FIRST WIVES CLUB!!!
Phil Hartman also did some writing in this film. I don't think he's in it, but Sat. Night Live's Jan Hooks has a part.
Yep; PWBA is an insane, but fun, movie she should absolutely watch. Historically important as a pop-culture touchstone but also as Tim Burton’s debut, not to mention grossly underrepresented on TH-cam reactions.
@@bobholtzmann he has a tiny spot at the end as a reporter
Judging by her disdain at that kid in the movie, I don't think she would enjoy Pee-Wee Herman in the slightest.
Agreed!!!! I can just see Ashleigh singing and dancing to the final scene!!!!!
Love that movie !
YES!
I think Goldie was also in 'Sugarland Express'......wasn't she? An early Steven Spielberg film. I believe it may have been based on a true story.
Yesssss!
You might like "Private Benjamin" with Goldie.
My favorite part in the movie is when Goldie calls out the kids' teacher for not noticing her children's rashes and sending them to the clinic 😂. Honestly, the teacher deserved it because she was mean
I love that part too😊 cause Goldie was acting like a true mom 😊
Which is exactly how real teachers are, when I was a kid we had to sue my school because they were so nasty and hateful, long story short we bought our house because of their nonsense 😁 If I get pregnant someday, they will be homeschooled
That was another big turning point. She had the one time playing out in the yard with them. But at this point....she turned from taking the teacher's side with their behavior problems....to being their "mother" and taking up for them and seeing good they each had. It was adorable to see how the boys then reciprocated.
It was almost as good as Uncle Buck's, "here's a quarter " scene.
Ditto
This is good choice but for Goldie Hawn “Private Benjamin” is a lot of fun!
Good movie, but I just remember it being advertised as a lot more of a comedy than what it actually was.
"Ooh! Are they gonna kiss? everybody shut up!!" My favorite moment of the whole thing lol!
Bird on a Wire is great Goldie movie also. Her and Mel Gibson start in it.
I love him as Richard Gilmore.
And don't forget Hector Elizondo in that stand out performance as singing garbage barge captain!
Edward Herrmann was in the 1970s version of the Great Gatsby as a guest to Gatsby's party that never left. He was also in the Coen Brothers film Intolerable Cruelty playing a rich man who loves trains. RIP.
Not to mention Roddy McDowell being Caesar from the original Planet of the Apes series.
Goldie Hawn won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 1969 for "Cactus Flower."
For another Goldie Hawn movie you should watch Foul Play. She is absolutely adorable in it.
I love this movie, it's so awesome and hilarious. It also has Chevy Chase and Burgess Meredith, and since she just watched both Grumpy Old Men movies, I bet she would enjoy seeing him again.

2 fun stories
Was it Kate Hudson?
@@papamaniac2410 Well, Kate Hudson is their only daughter - Goldie's biological daughter (father was Bill Hudson), and Kurt's adopted daughter.

Without a doubt my favorite reaction you’ve done! You were a pure ball of energy in this video lol rest calm, and keep being amazing!
Soil.
He was on an episode of Gilligan's Island around (or maybe before) the Disney stuff.
Nevertheless he's been around forever.
He was great in both fright night films.
Loved Roddy, absolute super star ❤️
I love how you say "Ya know what I'm saying?" As if there's any other way to interpret your innuendos 😂😂😂
"House Sitter " is a fun movie with Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin 🥰🥰🥰
I love that Kurt and Goldie are a real life couple and have been for decades.
I believe they met making this movie.
One that you NEED to watch is Housesitter (Steve Martin is in it).

i think its nice they are still together in real life. he raised her kids from before they were together as if they were his. kate hudson even made him a fathers day post online this year. the whole family seems really happy.
I always thought she was so bored on the yacht in the beginning because she truly was very intelligent, not just a dumb rich girl like everyone in her world treated her. It really showed with how quickly she picked everything up taking care of the house and kids.
Roddy McDowell's "Andrew" is/was wise in all the things that matter, and kept things moving.
One of my favourtie Kurt Russel movies is "Soldier". Sure it's an action movie, but there's some really good writing and acting in there. Russel really portrays an incredible range of emotions, which is an accomplishment as he plays someone that doesn't display emotions.
My granddaughter plays the little "space Bosnian girl" in his flashback. :)
Soldier is one of my favorite Kurt Russell movies! I was blown away by how he has almost no lines but his micro-expressions say so much!

This was one of the most entertaining reactions I have watched. You were so excited and funny. And you foaming over Kurt Russell was the best. 😂

I think Wildcats is my favorite Goldie Hawn movie and you get Wesley Snipes, Woody Harrelson and Nipsey Russell to boot...

It'll cut an hour off each movie
"The Cat From Outer Space"--

Also, if you are starting to become a Goldie Hawn fan, I know all of her work. " Seems like Old Times" with Chevy Chase and Charles Grodin is a must see, as is "Foul Play" with Chevy Chase. She also did a movie called "Wildcats" where Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson played teammates on a football team that she coached, and Private Benjamin.
