I don't understand all the hate for the first Nintendo DS. I have an original "phat" Nintendo DS and other than having to put it in a new black shell after I dropped it off of a bedside table one day back in 2019, it's worked flawlessly for me for decades. And the screen is plenty bright enough for me to play indoors. And yes, when indoors, I always play on my GBC, GBA, and GBA SP on the LESS bright mode. My GBC has 7 bright levels (IPS screen), so I tend to keep it on 3.
He forgot to mention game share. You can play local friends like Mario kart race or polemon and only one person needs to have that game on their device
That's wierd, GBA usually runs great if you use the original GBA cartridge. It's different if you use a modded DS card (like r4i card), then you actually need to emulate it with a seperate 3rd party emulator, because the built-in GBA compatible hardware only works from GBA slot and DS slot has no acces to it.
There was one issue with the dsi which was the power switch board blowing a fuse had this happened to me and 15 years later I finally replaced it lol got all my old memory’s back

Both my Wii and DS can't find my WLAN-Router, and vise versa. I guess my router is just too modern? I could not find any solution for that online. For my Wii it's no big problem, I can just use a LAN cable. I use it to play games like MKW and MH3 online. But my DS? No chance sadly.
If you can't get to the settings of your router to enable 802.11b or 802.11g buy an old router or wifi access point from a thrift shop that can do 802.11b/g and connect it to your router or internal network. Be sure to reset it, give it a secure password and there you go.

I want one cause it is just SO sleek and beautiful, those click sounds are just.. MMMH ITS GOOD! Not to mention it has SO many games, good games too, not just fun cause its retro, I'd know I have no nostolgia for it cause I was born in the wii U era, not the Wii's. It'd be great with a steam deck, the deck is for long travels where you wont mind having it cause you'd already have a bag with you and the DS is perfect for slipping it in your pocket. I want a normal DS lite cause of the GBA slot and I just like its UI more, yeah thats the genuine reason. I just like the DS lite/normal DS UI more.

Can you still mod a 3ds now that they've closed the online services? Also, I love Harvest Moon ds and LoZ Majoras Mask 3ds
Yes. Google “how to hack 3ds”
Yep, takes only around 15 minutes
Where is the best place to buy one? :)
me with a 2DS: do I look like I need *your* power
LMAO
I don't understand all the hate for the first Nintendo DS. I have an original "phat" Nintendo DS and other than having to put it in a new black shell after I dropped it off of a bedside table one day back in 2019, it's worked flawlessly for me for decades. And the screen is plenty bright enough for me to play indoors. And yes, when indoors, I always play on my GBC, GBA, and GBA SP on the LESS bright mode. My GBC has 7 bright levels (IPS screen), so I tend to keep it on 3.
You can play GBA games on them? How?
He forgot to mention game share. You can play local friends like Mario kart race or polemon and only one person needs to have that game on their device
New 3ds xl is the way to go. Much bigger library of games, more home brew goodies
Good thing I found my 5+ year old DSI the other day last week
My preowned ds lite i owned most of the card games i inserted doesn't read something wrong with the ds lite
i bought a nds this year, and the battery duration is very poor althoug i already changed it, and the gameboy advance emulation is very glitchy
If the battery was already bad that sucks bc it's hard to find genuine good quality battery replacements, the third party stuff can be rough
Big part of my childhood!, do you plan on getting a dsi xl?
There was one issue with the dsi which was the power switch board blowing a fuse had this happened to me and 15 years later I finally replaced it lol got all my old memory’s back
i LOVE my DS! unfortunately it deletes the game progress in irregular gaps. Sometimes i can play for weeks without issues and sometimes all progress is lost the next day. I dont know whether thats an issue with the DS itself or the gamecard. Any idea?
"such an amazing console" darn right! 😃
I usually am against 'you need this old console videos this year' because you don't but the DS, 3DS, Wii and Wii U are the exceptions.
i just recently bought ds lite first time in my life, hope i wont regret it very soon. currently overly attached to my 3ds for playing ds games but lets see how it goes with ds lite.
2:11 omg so true! ❤ Ive had mine in a drawer months maybe even a year and it was still alive! Meanwhile my Nintendo switch seems like it dies quick 😢
Already have mine bought last year and I'm pretty enjoying this!
That's awesome!
Loved mine I have the dsi xl which is modded with hiya custom firmware and a 3ds xl with custom firmware on that too. I do prefer the dsi xl just for the ability to play older games better.
I've never had a Nintendo device...but I think I want one....
They're definitely worth it in my view!
What ds console is best to get, and should I get a second hand one?
i like the original DS

Both my Wii and DS can't find my WLAN-Router, and vise versa. I guess my router is just too modern? I could not find any solution for that online.
For my Wii it's no big problem, I can just use a LAN cable. I use it to play games like MKW and MH3 online. But my DS? No chance sadly.
Most likely too new sadly, you could try opening a guest network with no password and see if that works
@@PinchSoft Some people can't access those type of settings with their ISP. Router settings are locked for many.
If you can't get to the settings of your router to enable 802.11b or 802.11g buy an old router or wifi access point from a thrift shop that can do 802.11b/g and connect it to your router or internal network. Be sure to reset it, give it a secure password and there you go.
@@GiSWiG Thank you for the advice but I'm not doing all that for and older system that doesn't need internet for my usage. All the games I want to play on my DS don't require internet access.
The OG is definitely the best from a design point of view
I lost my DS and just got a 3DS that came today. I have Mario Party DS, aka one of the best games. I regret nothing
I had the original Nintendo DS, then the Lite. Then I lost it. I still have my 3DS. It's a New Nintendo 3DS XL. I ended up getting a DS Lite from a seller on OfferUp.
i bought my first one in 2020 and i play it more then my switch i tell everyone i know the ds/3ds is top tier when it comes to playing tons of games. im looking to buy a ds lite now just to have one lol.
Absolutely! And the DS Lite is awesome too!
I found an O3DSXL for $120 sad it wasnt the newer model but its still good
Went on a long trip recently took my 3DS with me, it was lovely 😌
I had a pink ds lite, lost it in my own house, I miss that thing
Ima get a nintendo ds with some of the older pokemon games
Why not DSi?
I’ve been playing Mario kart ds on my ds lite online, and it is awesome yet I always lose
Me too 😭😭

I bought a ds about when this video was posted, now im buying a r4 card. The ds can do a lot for it being able to legally drink
